5 BATTERY CHARGE

Urban Clouds S.L. provides a 4400 mAh rechargeable battery inside Appmosfera. The charge-

control circuitry integrated in the device ensures proper levels of charging current at all times.

The way the battery is handled will affect its useful life. Be careful not to use Appmosfera for the

first time before completely charging the battery. The total performance of the battery will only

be reached after performing several charge-discharge cycles. A completely charged battery will

work for approximately 20 hours.

In order to properly charge Appmosfera, connect the MicroUSB cable to the device side connector

located for this purpose. If the connection is rightly performed, the side battery charge indicator

LED will turn red. Once the charging process is finished, the LED indicator will turn blue. Do not

forget to carefully unplug the MicroUSB connector to avoid any damage. Never connect a

MicroUSB cable that exceeds the levels of the USB standard.

Do not heat up the device. The battery could explode or release toxic materials.

Use only Urban Clouds S.L. approved batteries.

Do not use damaged batteries or charger.

Batteries should be recycled. They should not be placed in municipal waste.

Do not charge the battery in a hermetically sealed container.

When unplugging the device, pull the adapter, not the cable. Not following this advice

6.4 OUTDOOR/INDOOR MODE

At the top right corner of every screen, an icon appears in the form of a house or a bike:

- Indoor mode (house): Uploaded data in this mode will be marked as indoor data.

- Outdoor mode (bike): Uploaded data in this mode will be marked as outdoor data.

The mode changes semi-automatically, which means that the application will trigger this change

based on the appearance of certain events. A notification will pop up when the mode is changed,

and it is recommended that the user double-checks the mode state since it is possible to manually

change it. It is also possible to disable the semi-automatic change through the settings menu.

6.6 ROUTES

Gas concentration data and environmental variables are shown in real-time through the mobile

application to the user. Moreover, the performed route is represented during and after the journey.

The below pictures show the gas concentration data and environmental variables display:

Note: IR (Breathable Irritant Gases), CO (Carbon Monoxide), IAQ (Indoor Air Quality), PM

(Particulate Matter), Temp (Temperature) and Hum (Relative Humidity).

A legend of each AQ Partial Index is shown when pressing the corresponding circle, which gives

information about the sensor. This cards are closed pressing the circle again, or the ‘x’ in the top

right corner of the legend.

Pressing on the circle centre o sliding up/down will reveal information about temperature and

relative humidity at the current user location.

6.10 AIR HERE

The functionality “Air here” is accessible through the “Healthy routes” screen by pressing the

related button at the lower-right corner. Once pressed, the title of the screen will change showing

that the user has entered this new mode, in which it is possible to obtain the AQ average value at

any location.

Tapping at any point of the map, a circle around the position marker will be shown in traffic light

colours (green, yellow or red). The colour corresponds to the average of all the measurements

taken by every Appmosfera user, providing real information about the Air Quality at any location.

In the event of not having any data at the position demanded, the circle will be displayed in grey

colour.

7 DATA RECORD AND UPLOAD

Appmosfera device is able to record measuring points of every sensor/parameter every 3

seconds.

There are two uploading data possibilities:

1) Using mobile data:

The application uploads data through the network that the smartphone user is connected

to, either WiFi or mobile data. The second option will consume data from the user data

fee, and it can be avoided following the instructions provided in the next section.

2) Using WiFi:

To exclusively perform the data upload using WiFi, the following steps shall be adopted:

(1) (2)

Page 38: Appmosfera Manual User's guide · /C: Promálaga I+D. Calle La Gitanilla, 17, Lab 6. 29004 Málaga, Spain [3] Change log Reason for change Issue Version Date First version 1 0 04/05/2017

/Mail: [email protected]

/Web: urbanclouds.city

/C: Promálaga I+D. Calle La Gitanilla, 17, Lab 6. 29004 Málaga, Spain [37]

If the “WiFi only data upload” is selected, it has to be taken into account that data will be stored

in the smartphone memory. The application will automatically try to upload data when detecting

a WiFi connection, however there is a possibility that it may not succeed. In this case, data is kept

stored in the smartphone. To delete this data, an option to manually perform the upload is

included, which is advisable to use periodically. The uploading data process may take some time,

thus it is recommended to perform it at home, when the user is not using the application. It is

essential to be aware that, in the event of storing a great amount of data in the smartphone, the

application may slow down. Such undesirable effect is mitigated using the previously mentioned

function.
