    Applying to university entails a number of steps: at Bocconi we try tosmooth the way for international applicants by providing step-by-stepinstructions for the admissions process.

    As we go through the admissions procedure in more detail, importantdates and deadlines for every step will be provided.An overview of these dates and deadlines can be found in the table onpage 17.

    Bocconi Bachelor Programs

    Bocconi is a selective university that sets a fixed number of placesavailable each year in order to provide living and study conditions thatbest enable all students to complete their degrees. A total of 2675 placesare available for first-year students for the 2014-2015 academic year,within the 6 Bachelor degrees and the Law program offered.International students have access to more than half of the placesavailable in the Bachelor Programs taught in English and up to 10% of all places in Italian programs.

    The majority of first-year international applicants to Bocconi apply toour Bachelor programs in English. If you are fluent in Italian, you canalso apply for any of our other degree programs held in Italian or pickItalian programs as your second and third choices on your onlineapplication, even if your first choice is one of the programs in English.Except for the program in Economia e management per arte, culturae comunicazione, Bocconi’s Bachelor programs (those in Englishand 3 programs in Italian) have a common curriculum basis , whichallows students to change their program of study after the first threesemesters, based on merit and availability of spots. Please checkour website for details about Bocconi’s undergraduate offer atwww.unibocconi.eu/undergraduateschool .

    In addition, Bocconi offers the World Bachelor in Business , a 4-yeardegree program developed in partnership with the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business and the Hong KongUniversity of Science and Technology.

    Dedicated information, admission procedures, tuition fees andscholarships for this particular program are outlined on page 26.

    Admissions Rounds

    Before you start your application, make sure you are an internationalapplicant . This basically depends on the high school you attend. If youare attending a school in a foreign country or an international school (inItaly or abroad), you will be considered an international applicant for theadmissions process.

    For the 2014-2015 academic year, which will start in September 2014,two admissions rounds are planned:

    Selected secondary school students can attend a special admissionssession during the summer before starting their last year of high school aspart of the “Discover Your Talent” Summer Program. Please check theinformation available at www.unibocconi.eu/dyt .

    The Criteria

    Applicants are evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:• Transcripts for the third-last and second-last years of secondary school• An aptitude test : the SAT, ACT or Bocconi test• CV and personal statement• Certificates (e.g. language, IT)

    All elements will be considered as a whole for the admissions process.During the 1 st admissions round only , applicants with an outstanding GPA for the third-last and second-last years of secondary school (e.g. at least8 out of 10 in the Italian system or equivalent) can choose to apply without taking an aptitude test , however we strongly suggest allapplicants submit their SAT or ACT scores or take the Bocconi test as afurther element of evaluation.

    If you choose to apply without a test score, you will need to submit yourhigh school syllabi for Math and English for the third-last and second-last years of secondary school. Syllabi must be original copies, with theschool seal and translated into English. Please visit our website(www.unibocconi.eu/undergraduateadmission) for information aboutthe average marks in your school’s grading system required to skip thetest (SAT, ACT or Bocconi test).

    Applicants participating in the 1 st round who are not admitted can

    participate in the 2nd

    round by filling out another application form andsubmitting required documents again.

    Applicants participating in the 1 st round without submitting an aptitudetest who are assigned a “wait-list” position will be required to submit atest score (SAT, ACT) or sit the Bocconi test in April in order to beevaluated for the 2 nd round.

    During the 2 nd round, applicants may not skip the test requirement.

    Aptitude tests (SAT, ACT or Bocconi test)On the online application you can choose to either provide SAT or ACTscores or register to take the Bocconi test in Italy (Milan or Rome).

    The SAT Reasoning Test is a standardized test for college admissionsadministered by the College Board; it measures literacy and writingskills that are needed for academic success in college. The SAT consistsof three sections: Critical Reading, Mathematics, and Writing. Eachsection is assigned a score on the scale of 200–800.For more information on the SAT, check the website

    The ACT (American College Testing) test measures high school students’general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work with a multiple choice test covering four skill areas: English,mathematics, reading and science. The four main tests are scoredindividually on a scale of 1-36, and a Composite score is also provided,which is the whole number average of the four scores.     as soon as possible. We recommend you take the SAT or ACT in the fallof 2013 so that results are available on time.

    The Bocconi test lasts 90 minutes and involves 100 multiple choicequestions, which focus on various evaluation areas (e.g. criticalreasoning, logical and mathematical items).The test can be taken in either Italian or English, according to the choiceindicated by the applicant when completing the online application,regardless of the language of the program chosen (i.e. applicants can sitthe test in Italian and apply to a program in English and vice versa).At www.unibocconi.eu/undergraduateadmission you will find a Bocconitest simulation and a guide to the Bocconi test.

    Language and IT certificatesPossessing one of the language (English, French, German, Italian,Spanish or Portuguese) or IT certificates recognized by Bocconi will beconsidered a supplementary element of evaluation.These certificates will be considered for the selection process only if previously completed and if sent (as a copy) by the deadline.

    English language requirementsTo enroll in a program taught in English , students must meet one of therequirements listed online or have an English language certificate (atleast level B2 on the European Council scale). For more informationplease refer to www.unibocconi.eu/undergraduateadmissionTo apply to Bachelor programs in Italian , there are no specific languagerequirements. It is, however, strongly advised to be fluent in the Italianlanguage and have a basic knowledge of English (level B1 on theEuropean Council scale).

    Secondary school diploma requirementsIf you are completing your secondary school education at a non-Italianhigh school, please keep the following Italian Ministry of Education,University and Research mandatory regulations in mind when applyingand check online the detailed regulations:

    • If your secondary school diploma was awarded after 10 or 11 years ofeducation , you will need to complete 1 or 2 years of college oruniversity with all exams passed in order to enroll in the first year of aBachelor program in an Italian university.

    • The International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma, British A Levels, theEuropean Baccalaureate, the French Baccalauréat and OIB (Option

    Internationale du Baccalauréat ) and the German Abitur are valid foradmission without a declaration of value .

    • National high school diplomas (except the ones above) must betranslated and legalized by the Italian Embassy or Consulate in thecountry where the diploma was issued . The embassy or consulate willprovide a declaration of value for the diploma.

    • Students earning a US High School diploma will need to provide at least 5 AP courses in different subjects passed with a minimum grade of 3 outof 5. Please see our website for a list of subjects recognized by Bocconi.

    • Students attending the British school system need to have at least 6subjects granted during GCSE and at least 3 A Levels .

    • International applicants who are required to take a qualifying academicexam for university admission in their home country (e.g. Gao Kao,Veveosi Prosvasis, Matura, YGS) must pass that exam in order to enrollin an Italian university. Passing this exam will be verified whenenrollment is finalized (September 2014).

    Financial aid and scholarshipsThe financial aid system provided by Università Bocconi includesvarious types of support. International applicants are offered:

    • Merit-based aid: all applicants will be automatically considered for theBocconi merit awards based on the admission criteria. There is no needto file a separate application form.

    • Need-based aid: for Bocconi Scholarships applicants must submit aspecific application by the same deadline as the deadline for Bachelorprograms applications.

    The Process

    1. Fill out the online applicationGo to www.unibocconi.eu/undergraduateadmissionClick on “Register” in order to obtain the personal ID and passwordnecessary to access the online application.

    In the online application you will be asked to:• Choose your first choice of study program , plus second and third

    alternative choices• Provide your high school grades• Specify which test you want to submit (ACT/SAT or Bocconi Test) or if

    you prefer to skip the test (this option is available only during the 1 stadmissions round)

    • If you opt for the Bocconi test, specify in which language you want to takethe test (English or Italian)

    • Specify any English language certificates , and/or IT certificates you willsubmit

    Click on the “confirm” button in order to upload all the documentsneeded for admissions. Once you click on “confirm” you will be able toprint the application summary and the documentation checklist to keep asa reminder.Please remember that you will have to pay an application fee beforecompleting the online application process. The application fee is € 100 andmust be paid online with a credit card using PAYTOOL before submittingthe application. A copy of the payment receipt must be uploaded.

    2 . Collect documents and upload your dossierThe documents you will need to upload are the following:

    • Copies of the official certificate of your SAT or ACT scores : if you have notyet received your official SAT or ACT scores, you can submit a copy of theunofficial score and provide the official scores upon admission andenrollment

    • Copies of your complete secondary school transcripts for the third-lastand second-last years (with grading system conversions indicating highest

    possible grade and lowest passing grade), translated into English or Italian• Copies of any language and/or IT certificates• A personal statement of about one page• A Curriculum Vitae (résumé)• Academic syllabi for math and English * , if you are not taking an admissions

    test (SAT, ACT or Bocconi test) – option available only for the 1 st round• One passport size color photo attached to the proper form and signed in

    the provided space

    Bocconi will not accept any application that does not include properand complete documentation.

    We strongly suggest you submit your dossier as soon as possible,especially if you choose not to take an aptitude test (SAT, ACT orBocconi test). If your high school grades do not meet the requirements,the Admissions Office will request that you take the Bocconi test inMilan in April or submit the SAT/ACT in order to consider yourapplication in the 2 nd round.

    3. Sit the Bocconi test (if required)International students can sit the Bocconi Test in Milan (in February andApril) and in Rome (in February only).If, on the online application, you have chosen to take the Bocconi test, youwill find details on test registration, including classroom, time andlanguage, on your online application summary.

    4. Admission results

    Look for the admissions results at www.unibocconi.eu/ undergraduateadmission. To access the results, use the personal ID andpassword you were given when completing the online application.

    If you have been accepted, congratulations! The Admissions Office willbe in touch via email regarding the validation of your secondary schooldiploma, visa requirements and any other issues that might need support.International students are invited to attend dedicated activities andevents on campus upon admission.For more information, see www.unibocconi.eu/undergraduateadmitted

    5. Enrollment: confirm your placeTo enroll and confirm your place in the program you have beenaccepted to, you will need to:

    • Fill out the online enrollment form• Submit a payment of € 1,543 . This is an advance payment of the first

    tuition and fees installment. Instructions on payment methods areavailable online at www.unibocconi.eu/fees

    • Send the enrollment application , which can be printed after filling outthe form, along with a copy of the advance payment receipt and a copyof a valid form of ID/passport to the Admissions Office

    Students will be officially enrolled and become Bocconi students afterthey have confirmed their place through the online enrollment formand submitted the documents listed above.

    6. Entry visas (for non-EU students only)All students with citizenship from countries outside the EU are requiredto apply for a student visa.To obtain a student visa , you must apply at the Italian Consulate in yourcountry of citizenship, which will provide you with a list of thedocuments necessary to get your visa (visa requirements vary for eachcountry and consulate).Please keep in mind that Italian authorities accept requests for studentvisas only in May-June .Once in Italy, within 8 days after your arrival, all international studentshave to apply for a “ Permesso di Soggiorno ” (Permit to Stay) . Uponarrival at Bocconi, specific sessions will be organized to support

    students in relocation procedures.

    7. Final enrollmentThe last step in completing your enrollment takes place when you get toMilan in September. The Admissions Office will schedule a meetingwith you. There you must submit the following:

    • The original copy of your secondary school diploma (with any necessarydeclaration of value and/or translation)

    • Original copies of English language certifications (only for studentsenrolling in Bachelor programs taught in English – if not alreadysubmitted)

    • Official SAT or ACT scores (if not already submitted)• The receipt issued by the Italian post office to request a permit to stay if

    you are a non-EU citizen (for more information, please see the websitewww.unibocconi.eu/undergraduatearrival)

    8. ArrivalBefore regular classes start in the beginning of September 2014,

    Useful information about study paths

    • Once enrolled in the first year of a Bachelor, students must earn at least

    24 credits (40% of first-year requirements) by July 2015 to begin thesecond year of the program. See the website for more information.• Students enrolled in one of the common curriculum-based programs

    have the opportunity to change their program after the first threesemesters, based on merit and availability of spots. Within the variousprograms, it is also possible to switch from a program taught in Italianto one in English or vice versa.

    • Students enrolled in Bachelor programs taught in Italian are required totake at least one course taught in English during their studies.

    • All Undergraduate students will be required to obtain the ECDL (EuropeanComputer Driving License - 7 modules) in order to access the ComputerSkills for Economics course and exam (3 credits) during their first year of study. Students should therefore complete the ECDL by the secondsemester of the first year of the program in order to be ready for the exam.

    • Students who decide to continue their studies with a Bocconi Master of Science program will have to go through a proper selection anddedicated admissions procedures.

    Transfer applicants from other universities

    Applicants who would like to transfer to Bocconi from an Italian ornon-Italian university, or applicants who have already completed aBachelor degree, may apply as regular candidates during one of the tworounds of admission. These applicants follow the same admissionsprocess up to enrollment as all other applicants. University transcriptswill not be evaluated for admission during this stage: admitted studentswill enroll in the first year of the program.     In order to ensure a fair system for tuition and fees, Università Bocconiforesees 4 income brackets adjusted to the economic and patrimonyconditions of the student’s original and de facto family.

    Bocconi Scholarships for international students(non-Italian citizens only) – Need-basedNon-Italian citizens enrolling for the first time in the first year of anundergraduate degree at Bocconi may apply for the BocconiScholarship . It consists of a full tuition and fees waiver that may berenewed for a maximum of 3 academic years (for Bachelor programs)or 5 academic years (for the Law program).     Other financial aid and scholarships

    Exemption from payment of University tuition and feesfor students with disabilitiesStudents with a physical disability equal to or greater than 66%certified by an Italian Medical Commission are completely exemptfrom payment of tuition and fees.

    Grants for international programsIn order to encourage student participation in international mobilityprograms organized by the University, financial support is madeavailable to anyone meeting the merit requirements established by theISU Bocconi Regulations.

    Grants for international internships and off-campusinternships at public organizations in Italy Different forms of assistance are available from Università Bocconi forstudents who participate in unpaid internships held abroad, or off-campus internships held at an Italian public institution.     The University has secured agreements with major credit institutions tooffer students enrolled in Bocconi degree programs a way to financetheir education with a low interest loan. Loan applications can be made

    at any time throughout the academic year.

    UniCredit ad Honorem from UniCreditBancaThis loan is aimed at Bocconi students who are residents in Italy andhave EU or non-EU citizenship. It can be accessed starting in the first

    year of an undergraduate degree program.

    IntesaBridge from Intesa SanpaoloThis loan is aimed at all Bocconi students who are EU citizens . It can beaccessed starting in the second year of the program.

    BPM loan for university studiesBanca Popolare di Milano has created two loan options for both EUand non-EU students who are enrolled in a Bocconi degree program.

    Deutsche Bank loanGerman students who have completed an Abitur diploma in Germany

    and who enroll in a Bocconi degree program can access a low interestloan with Deutsche Bank by directly contacting a bank branch inGermany.

    The World Bachelor in Business is a four-year undergraduate degreeprogram developed in partnership with USC University of SouthernCalifornia-Marshall School of Business and the Hong Kong University ofScience and Technology .This is an innovative educational program in the area of global highereducation. The class group is composed of approximately 50 students,who attend their first year at the USC Marshall School of Business,their 2 nd year at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology,their 3 rd year at Bocconi in Milan, Italy and their 4 th year at one of thethree partner schools of their choice. After four years of study, studentswill be able to obtain three undergraduate degrees from each of thepartner schools, recognized by the educational systems on the threecontinents.

    Students interested in applying to both the World Bachelor in Businessand the regular Bocconi Bachelor programs should complete twodifferent applications .

    Admissions and Timeline

    In an effort to accommodate different admission schemes and schedulesof various regions across the globe, applicants are allowed to submittheir application through any one of the three partner schools .

    Admissions will be evaluated by a committee composed by members of the three universities. Each student should submit one application only .Applicants are advised to apply through the university where they wantto be considered for admission to its other programs.
