Region 6 serves three towns in northwestern Connecticut (Goshen, Morris, and Warren) with a combined population of about 7,000 people. The district is located in a picturesque area of Connecticut noted for its bucolic charm and agricultural legacy. Each town preserves large amounts of open space, and with an abundance of forests and lakes, the region is an outdoors destination for hikers and sportspeople. In recent years, northwestern Connecticut has become a hub for local vineyards and wineries. A population of seasonal vacation homes takes advantage of what the area has to offer. However, the area’s proximity to more populated areas and transportation options allows it to be the desirable year-round home for many families.

Region No. 6 Schools

Region 6 is a 1,100-student pre-K through grade 12 public school system consisting of three elementary schools and a middle/high school. Each town hosts a kindergarten through grade 6 elementary school, including Goshen Center School, James Morris School, and Warren School. A prekindergarten program is open to all children in the district. Grades seven through 12 attend Wamogo High School (WArren, MOrris, GOshen) centrally located in the town of Litchfield. Wamogo is also home to an Agricultural Science and Technology program that draws students from outside of the district.

Region 6 deeply values the high quality of education delivered to its students. The schools enjoy excellent class sizes, a variety of arts, enrichment, and special services. It has a track record of leadership integrating educational technology; each of its schools features a Makerspace for student exploration. It was an early adopter of pre-K, full-day kindergarten, and Common Core. We have recently implemented a Gifted and Talented program. This focus on education has resulted in recognition and numerous awards for the district, including CAS Middle School of the Year, National Blue Ribbon high school, and multiple FFA National Chapter awards.

MISSION STATEMENTRegion 6 prepares all students for learning, living, and achieving through educational excellence. Our primary goal is to ensure that all students will read critically, write clearly, and communicate effectively through technology-supported instruction and successfully apply higher-order thinking and problem solving skills across all content areas.
