application of the rin guidelines in spain at various scales
DESCRIPTION
The German "Guidelines for Integrated Network Design" (RIN) are a set of methods amied to combine spatial planning and transport planning so that functional transportation networks can be designed. Then the service quality of such networks can be measured as well as accessibility standards for the single transportation facilities which make it up are established.TRANSCRIPT

CONCLUSIONS
• Testing the applicability of the RIN guidelines to other countries and regions
– Difficulties to establish the functional structure:• Different spatial planning guidelines.• Different urban dimension.• Exessive dependence on the Dalaunay triangulation (e.g. Porto-
Seville and Bilbao-Valencia instead of Lisbon-Madrid and Madrid-Barcelona).
– Assestment of the transport network:• Different transportation standards.• Different law.

CONCLUSIONS
• Discussing the obtained results about the quality of service on the Spanish
roads and their relation with the current transportation network
