TheFestival

The2018QueenscliffMusicFestival (the22ndedition)willbe held on the 23rd, 24th & 25th of November. Awardwinning and high profile, the Festival (QMF) is acommunityeventthatisoperatedbyaminusculestaffandanarmyoftrulyamazingvolunteers.

The Festival is held in the seaside heritage township ofQueenscliff(hencethename)ontheBellarinePeninsulainVictoria. It is managed with respect for the localcommunity and the sensitive coastal environment thatsupportstheevent.

Queenscliffencompassesawiderangeofmusic,andwe’reprettymuchup foranythingoriginal (sonocover/tributebands) and we don't really do EDM and Metal (etc).Differentorquirkywilldefinitelycatchourattention.

YourApplication

YouMUSThaveanInternetpresencewithstreamingaudio(preferablymore than one song) to apply forQMF 2018.ThiscanbeintheformofaWebsite,SocialMediapage,orYouTube(orother).ThissavesyouCD’sandpostagecosts.PLEASEDON’TmailusyourCDs.

Wereceivemanymoreapplicationsthanwehaveslotsontheprogramforand intheendwewillprogramwhatwebelievewillworkbestforourFestival.

Theline-upisdifferenteveryyear,soifyourapplicationisunsuccessful this year, it may not be a reflection on thequalityofyourmusicandmorebecauseitjustdidn’tfitinthemixofaparticularyear.Soifyou’reconfidentthatyouare suited to theQueenscliffprogram,weencourageyoutoapplyagainin2019.

Programmingdecisionsarefinalandmadeforavarietyofreasons and as such, we will not explain why yourapplicationwas not successful.Wehave a very small butbusy office so phone calls or emails lobbying for yourapplicationWILLNOTbeanswered.

Youwillhearfromuseitherway(pleasenocheckinguponthe ‘status of your application’) – about whether yourapplicationhasbeensuccessfulorunsuccessful,sokeepaneyeonyouremails.

Performing@QMF

CONCERTS:Atypicalsetgoesfor45-75min,andwelikethemajority of our acts to performmultiple shows over thefestivalweekend;thisworksbestforus,andyou!Mostofour acts selected via applications do a minimum of 3-4shows–baseyourperformancefeeonthis.

COMEDY: We do have a small number of comedy actsincludedintheprogram.Wearemainlylookingformusicalcomedyactsthough.

CHILDREN’S ENTERTAINMENT: A hosted children’sentertainment program in our Kids Quarter area.We tryandcater forKidsofall ages, sowehavea reallydiverseprogram.Circusperformers,story-tellers,clowns,etc…thisis foryou.Outside& insideperformances,onstage,or intheroundflagcirclestyle.

STREET ENTERTAINMENT: The townofQueenscliff comesto life over the Festival weekend. We love all types ofstreet&rovingperformers,circusacts,etc.

OtherpartsoftheQMFProgram

FOOT-in-the-DOORThis is our own local brand of a FReeZA funded programdedicated to emerging talent that is totally delivered byyoungpeople. Itconsistsof3genrebasedcompetitions–rock; acoustic/folk; blues, roots & beyond. FITDcompetitionapplicationsareonlinefromSeptember1st.

QMFExpressQMF is host to one of the most unusual music festivalvenuesintheworld,amovingsteamtrain.AdiverserangeofArtistsplayontheFestivalTrain.Thesespotsare6x15-20minspots(dependingonhowfastthetrainistravelling),spreadover3hrs.Puntersswapcarriagesattheendoftheline,soyou’llplayto6differentcrowds. It’sahighlightofmanyQMFpuntersexperience,sodefinitelyagreatgig!

BuskingQMF runs a Busking competition that takes placethroughoutthetownatvariousdifferentbuskinglocations.ApplicationsforthisgoonlineSept1st.

PerformanceFees

When quoting a performance fee for the Festival in yourapplicationpleaseconsiderthefollowing:-

• ThemajorityofArtistspickedfromtheapplicationsplaymorethanonce.Pleaseprovideaquotebasedon3-4x45-75minperformances.

• Pleaseputdownjustafigureinthespaceprovidedforthequote–noneedtoexplain.

• QMFworksonlyondeliveredfees.AsinyougetyourselftotheFestivalandback.Weprovidesomeaccomm(asperbelow).

• Somevenuesandprogramspotshaveaverysmallbudgetallocatedtothem,sowemaynotbeabletomeetyourquote.Ifwereallylikeyouthoughandwethinkyoufitthatspot,wemaystillofferittoyou.Pleasedon’tbeoffended,it’sjusthowitworks.

• Keepinmind,we’reacommunitybased,not-for-profitevent.

• OurFestivalprovidespathwaystoemergingartistsandwecanprovideyouwithopportunitiesmoneyjustcan’tbuy,sopleaseconsiderthiswhensubmittingyourquote.

Accommodation

Accommodation is strictly limited. With an extremelyfinite supply,we use a priority systemwith the followingcriteria:• thedistanceawayfromhome• Artistsplayingtheprimarystages• Artistsplayingfortwoormoredays• Artistswhofinishaftermidnight• Artists only – we do not offer accommodation to

friends/partners/guests/management/roadies.• ona"bedperperson"basis:i.e.notsinglerooms• Accommodation is never guaranteed, it is always

negotiatedonacontract-by-contractbasis.Travel

Queenscliff isapproximately90minutes fromMelbourne,on theBellarine Peninsula. QMFdoes not provide travelforArtistsandworksonDeliveredFees.Soyouwillneedtobe prepared to make your own way to and fromQueenscliffbywhichevermethodyouprefer(plane,train,car,bus,ferry,hovercraft).

InternationalArtists

Queenscliffisafestivalthatprimarilycelebratesthedepthand breadth of Australian contemporarymusic. Howeverwe are open to having special International Guests onoccasions.InternationalartistsmusthavealocalAustralianPromoter.

Equipment

QMF does not take responsibility for any equipment orbelongings brought onto the Festival site by the Artist,even when that equipment is under the supervision ofperson/sassociatedwithQMF.

Insurance

Please be aware that the Festival’s Public & ProductsLiabilityInsurancedoesnotprovideprotectionforArtists.

Itisyourresponsibilitytoarrangeyourownpublicliabilityinsurance.Ifyouarenotsureofyourinsurancestatus,wesuggestyourefertoyourManager/Agentasappropriate.

ArtistswillberequiredtoprovideQMFwithacopyofyourinsurancestatementspriortoperformingattheevent.

Backline

QMFprovides backline for some stages,NOTALL. Otherthan the backline provided (as per QMF specs) on thesestages you must organise and provide all your owngear/equipment.

Soundcheck

We are a Festival accommodating many Artists. Thismeans, NO SOUNDCHECKS. There are 15-45minchangeoversbetweenacts,solinecheckswillbeavailable.

NoiseRestrictionsDuetoEPArequirementsandcommunityconcernspleasebe aware that sound level monitoring takes placethroughout the Festival. Artists are required to abide bethese restrictions. Penalties for breaching these willapply... therefore, we highly recommend that Artists usethe sound engineers provided by the QMF productioncrews.Riders

QMFprovidesridersbynegotiationwithArtistsperformingonmain stagesonly.Wedonotguarantee rider requestswillbemet.

DEADLINESApplicationscloseonMondayApril30th5pm.Thedeadline is thedeadline. - Theapplication formwillbe removed from our website upon applications closing.No applicationswill be considered after this time.
