Terrain NRM is the regional Natural Resource Management body for the Wet Tropics region in Far North Queensland. Terrain NRM is a not-for-profit company charged with building regional consensus in the Wet Tropics on key targets and actions needed to secure the health of our water, biodiversity, soil, river, climate, traditional owner and community assets.

Our aims for the region are:• No net loss of regional biodiversity;• Halt water quality decline into the Reef Lagoon;• Increase the health of river, wetland and aquatic ecosystems;• Enhance the sustainability of the region’s industries;• Increase community resilience with respect to natural resource issues;• Enhance the connection for traditional owners to their country;• Reduce the region’s carbon footprint;• Manage new pest incursions and reduce current strategic pest pressures; and• Establish effective disaster response systems for natural resources issues.

What is the Terrain NRM Membership Body?

Decisions made with community input are essential to successful natural resource management. As a community organisation, Terrain NRM welcomes the community’s participation in all its activities. The Terrain NRM Membership body was established to provide a direct link between the community and the Board of Terrain NRM.

Ordinary Membership is open to any not for profit organisation with a bona-fide interest in natural resources in the Wet Tropics. Voting at General and Annual General Meetings is restricted to Ordinary Members via a nominated Delegate.

Completed applications for Ordinary Membership will be considered by the Board of Terrain NRM.

Appointment of Delegate and Alternate Delegate

While every member of the community is invited to attend meetings of the Company, only an organisation’s nominated Delegate is eligible to vote on its behalf. An alternate Delegate (Delegate No. 2) must also be nominated in the event that the nominated Delegate is unable to attend.
