APPLICATION FOR STUDENT LEAVE OF ABSENCE
Term-time holidays are detrimental to the learning of students. They should be avoided at
all costs and are only authorised by the Academy in exceptional circumstances.
There is no parental right to take children away on holiday during term time.
Before authorising leave, the Attendance Officer will consider:
Your child’s current attendance record, including punctuality
The stage of your child’s education, especially if they are in Key Stage 4 (vital public
examinations take place on set days)
If previous requests have been made before for leave
If your child’s work and conduct match our high expectations
The nature of the trip (only exceptional circumstances will be authorised)
