APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION INTO BACHELOR’S DEGREE, DIPLOMA AND

CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES FOR 2015/2016 ACADEMIC YEAR

The Rector of the National Institute of Transport invites applications from qualified Tanzanians

and non Tanzanians for admission into various programmes for 2015/2016 academic year.

1. BACHELOR DEGREE (NTA LEVEL 7- 8) PROGRAMMES

(a) NT001 Bachelor Degree in Logistics and Transport Management

(b) NT004 Bachelor Degree in Procurement and Logistics Management

(c) NT005 Bachelor Degree in Human Resource Management

(d) NT008 Bachelor Degree in Business Administration

Entry requirements:

Two principal passes in ACSEE in any subjects other than religious subjects with an

aggregate of 2.0 points for science and 3.0 points for art subjects; or Ordinary Diploma

(NTA Level 6) in any related field with at least Lower Second Class from a recognized

Institution; or any relevant Non - NTA Diploma with at least a lower second class or B

grade or Diploma in Education /FTC with an average of at least C grade including four

(4) passes in CSEE.

(e) NT006 Bachelor Degree in Information Technology

Entry requirements:

Two principal passes in ACSEE in any subjects other than religious subjects with an

aggregate of 2.0 points for science and 3.0 points for art subjects ; or Ordinary Diploma

(NTA Level 6) in ICT related field with at least Lower Second Class plus four passes in

the CSEE.

(f) NT003 Bachelor Degree in Automobile Engineering

(g) NT007 Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Entry requirements:

Two (2) principal passes in ACSEE in relevant subjects: Mathematics, Physics and

Chemistry with an aggregate of 2.0 points including four passes in CSEE with at least

a pass in Basic Mathematics, Physics/Engineering Science and English; or Ordinary

Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Automobile/Mechanical/Electrical/Marine Engineering or

Technical Education with at least Lower Second Class with at least four (4) passes in

CSEE excluding religious subjects; or FTC with at least an average of C grade from

recognized institution; or Diploma in education in Physics/Mathematics/Engineering

Science or Chemistry with an average of at least C grade including four (4) passes in

CSEE.

Duration of the Bachelor degree Programmes

For programmes ‘a’ to ‘e’ is three (3) years while programmes ‘f’ and ‘g’ is three (3)

years for Diploma holders and four (4) years for form six leavers.

2. ORDINARY DIPLOMA (NTA LEVEL 5 - 6) PROGRAMMES

(a) Diploma in Logistics and Transport Management

(b) Diploma in Freight Clearing and Forwarding

(c) Diploma in Procurement and Logistics Management

(d) Diploma in Human Resource Management

(e) Diploma in Business Administration

(f) Diploma in Accounting and Transport Finance

(g) Diploma in Marketing and Public Relations

Entry requirements: One Year related Basic Technician Certificate (NTA Level 4) from

NACTE recognized Institutions; or ACSEE with at least ONE principal pass or TWO

subsidiary passes in combination subjects.

(h) Diploma in Computing and Information Communication Technology

Entry requirements:

Four (4) passes in CSEE including Mathematics, English and Science subjects excluding

religious subjects plus one year ICT related certificate course from NACTE recognized

Institutions; or ONE principal pass or TWO subsidiary passes of the combination

subjects in ACSEE including passes in Mathematics and English in CSEE.

(i) Diploma in Automobile Engineering

(j) Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

Entry requirements:

Basic Technician Certificate (NTA Level 4) in Automobile Engineering /Mechanical

Engineering or any relevant field from NACTE recognized Institutions or ACSEE with at

least ONE principal pass or TWO subsidiary passes of the combination subjects.

Duration of the Diploma Programmes - Two (2) years

3. BASIC TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE (NTA LEVEL 4) PROGRAMMES

a) Basic Technician Certificate in Logistics and Transport Management

b) Basic Technician Certificate in Freight Clearing and Forwarding

c) Basic Technician Certificate in Procurement and Logistics Management

d) Basic Technician Certificate in Human Resource Management

e) Basic Technician Certificate in Business Administration

f) Basic Technician Certificate in Accounting and Transport Finance

g) Basic Technician Certificate in Marketing and Public Relations

Entry requirements:

Four (4) passes in any subjects excluding religious subjects in the CSEE or National

Vocational Technical Award Level 3/Trade Test Grade I.

h) Basic Technician Certificate in Automobile Engineering

i) Basic Technician Certificate in Mechanical Engineering

j) Basic Technician Certificate in Computing and Information Communication

Technology

Entry requirements:

Four (4) passes in the CSEE including passes in Basic Mathematics, Physics, or

Engineering Science and English; or possesses a Certificate of National Vocational

Technical Award Level 3/Trade Test Grade I.

Duration of the Certificate Programmes – One year (1)

4. INTERNATIONAL ADVANCED DIPLOMA, DIPLOMA AND CERTIFICATE

PROGRAMMES

The National Institute of Transport in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of

Logistics and Transport (CILT) of United Kingdom offers International Professional

Training Opportunities in Logistics and Transport Programmes.

(a) International Introductory Certificate in Logistics and Transport - 6 Weeks

Applicants must be holders of CSEE with at least two (2) passes in any subjects

(except religious subjects).

(b) International Certificate in Logistics and Transport - 6 Months

Applicants must be holders of CSEE with at least three (3) passes in any subjects

except religious subjects or holders of International Introductory Certificate in

Logistics and Transport or Managers and Supervisors with at least one year

experience in relevant field.

(c) International Diploma in Logistics and Transport -12 Months

Applicants must be holders of CILT International Certificate in Logistics and

Transport; or Holders of ACSEE with at least one principal pass in any subject

(except religious subject); or Managers and Supervisors with at least two years work

experience in related relevant field.

(d) International Advanced Diploma in Logistics and Transport – 24 Months

Applicants must be holders of International Diploma in Logistics and Transport

(DILT).

NOTE: 1.There is no deadline of application for International Logistics and Transport

Programmes.

2. International Logistics and Transport Programmes are conducted in

evening sessions from 5.00pm - 9.00 pm from Monday to Sunday.

5.0 MODE OF APPLICATION

5.1 Bachelor degree applicants will apply through the Central Admission System (CAS). For

further information visit the TCU website - www.tcu.go.tz and NACTE website

-www.nacte.go.tz

5.2 Diploma and Certificate applicants have to apply directly to the National Institute of

Transport (NIT),

a) Application forms can either collected at Admission office or downloaded from the

Institute’s website www.nit.ac.tz.

b) Local applicants must pay a non- refundable application fee of Tshs.

30,000/= through NMB, NIT Economic Project, Account No. 20501100008.

Foreign applicants must pay non-refundable application fee of US $ 26 through

NIT Foreign Account No.02J1095093402- CRDB - PLC Vijana Branch.

Original Bank Pay- in-Slip be attached to the dully filled forms.

6.0 DEADLINE OF APPLICATION

Dully filled application forms with photocopies of relevant academic

Certificates/Transcripts and Birth certificates should be submitted either by

hand or through the Rector’s address mentioned below before 30th June, 2015 for

Certificate – Cohort 1 applicants and 10th November, 2015 for Certificate – Cohort

2 and Diploma applicants.

NOTE: Unduly filled forms and those without the mentioned supporting documents

will not be considered for admission.

7.0 PROGRAMMES COMMENCEMENT DATE

Successful applicants of Certificate - Cohort 1 will commence on 13th July, 2015, while

Certificate - Cohort 2, Diploma and Degree applicants on 23rd November, 2015 and

International Programme applicants on July, 2015 depending on the number of

applicants.

8.0 EVENING PROGRAMMES

All Certificate and Diploma programmes under NACTE are also offered in the evening

programme starting from 5.00 pm -9.00 pm, Monday to Saturday. Examinations for

evening programmes are conducted together with examinations for full time

programmes during day time. Evening students are required to set aside enough time

for examinations which are scheduled from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm as no changes for the

examination timetable will be allowed.
