Statement of qualifications:

To be honest, I am not sure if I'm qualified, other than being a citizen participant in public transit and drive/park a car in the Bay Area. I am, however, a research-based digital designer, meaning I talk to lots of people, both on the business and consumer side of things, before putting a pen to paper. I listen, assess, and analyze the spoken and unspoken needs, desires, and pain points of audiences which often reveals previously unknown ideas, or can disprove assumptions that often lead to poor design decisions. Given this approach I hope that I can bring this methodology to the table to help uncover potential solutions to the transit problems we face.

Statement of objectives:

Just this morning I read an article that the Bay Area has the second worst traffic congestion in the United States. That is truly tragic. We are the US hub of innovation, technology, and green conservation efforts. Yet somehow we can't figure out how to improve our transportation system. I believe we as a society think too compartmentally. We do not connect the dots between different systems that should instead be analyzed holistically. I would like to look at the Bay Area transit system from a holistic perspective, taking into consideration the daily needs of who it serves (both consumers and internal workforce), and come up with creative and innovative ideas. This approach will likely mean involving organizations and other governmental agencies to build potential solutions, which can be complicated. However, involving others can lead to collaboration, consensus, and long term systemic change.

Statement of qualifications:

District 6 resident since 1994 and a resident of SF since 1991. I have always taken a keen interest in the area's transportation characteristics and needs. I was here when the Embarcadero freeway was torn down, and it was like a curtain had been lifted to reveal a magic trick. From my below record of career accomplishments in the finance and tech fields, you will see that I am a results-oriented individual. If considered for this position, I will bring those results to the table as an effective and fair representative of District 6. Having lived here for as long as I have, I talk everyday to the people that live here. I walk to work and stop and say hi to my neighbors, regardless of their socioeconomic status.

Statement of objectives:

1. If the F-line had just been built on the east sidewalk of the Embarcadero instead of in the middle of the boulevard, it could have avoided all red lights. I will introduce and advocate smarter planning. 2. Congestion pricing is long overdue, and I will champion this effort. 3. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic are the most efficient and green transportation possible. I will make every effort to encourage both. 4. We simply must continue building subways within SF. 5. We need another bay crossing, by train, whether it be BART or Caltrain or CAHSR. But NO CARS...just public transportation. 6. I have a developed an accurate flow map of the bay area. 7. BART infill stations and expansion plans within San Francisco need to be actioned ASAP. 8. San Francisco, as a world destination , needs to represent itself. We love sensible ground transportation, so let's action this further by tearing down 280 and prioritizing the DTX. 9. Are the current DTX plans adequate? If we don't priotitize the EIRs for the Mayor's 3rd Street Alignment Proposal we are saddled with the "too-tight" turns baked into the current bullet train plans.

Statement of qualifications:

I am a committed transportation rider and advocate. I'm very interested in the way public transit development can shape a city. I want to help improve San Francisco's transportation options to make the city a better place to live and work. For the last 3 years I've worked at Opower, a company that engages with public utilties to design energy efficiency programs. I have a lot of experience working with government bodies and the partnership between public organizations and private enterprise. I've led teams and have been a people manager. I believe that I'd make valuable contributions to this committee.

Statement of objectives:

San Francisco has a rapidly growing population and transit is getting more crowded. The city's population has grown 50,000 in the last five years. We need to think critically about how to serve the population of this city today and the even larger future population we expect. I'd like to help design transportation options for future San Franciscans. This includes buses, light rail, BRT, bike lanes, subways and yes, even routes for private vehicles. As a rider of the 5R I've been able to see firsthand the benefits of MUNI's rapid project and believe it can go even further. I support the Van Ness and Geary BRT project but want to make sure they are not the victims of BRT creep--dilution of dedicated lanes and transit priority signal. Recently Supervisor Scott Weiner wrote in the Chronicle that San Francisco should always have a subway under construction. I support the idea of a Subway Master Plan and a second Transbay Tube. These projects will take years, maybe decades but we're already behind. Investment now is the only way to catch up. The cost of not having these transit improvements will far outweigh the price tag.

Statement of qualifications:

I studied architecture and economics as an undergraduate, and I recently completed business school. In the past, I worked on the design and business structure of public space and infrastructure projects, including the High Line in New York City. As a part of these projects, I participated in community outreach to understand the wants and needs of local citizens. I am personally invested in the smart development of cities, considering holistic impacts of new projects. But more importantly, I am invested in understanding the range of opinions and needs of my neighborhood.

Statement of objectives:

I use walking, biking, and caltrain every day for my transportation, and I am invested in the support and development of transit systems for the citizens of the Bay Area. Infrastructure development can be time-consuming and costly. I want to explore innovative financing techniques and public-private partnerships in order to support transportation investment. This is necessary for the safety and security of our citizens, the positive experience of visitors, and controlling the environmental impact of our city.

Statement of qualifications:

Education: Yale University, B.A; Northwestern University School of Law, J.D.; practiced law as a civil trial attorney for 42 years before retirement in 2012 (Managing Attorney of my firm for the last 15 years of practice); Member of the California State Bar's Board of Legal Specialization, 2011-2015; served on the City's Tree Advisory Committee for 3 years in early 1990's; currently serve and have served on the City's News Rack Advisory Committee for last 8 years; for last 22 years, Board member of non-profit San Francisco Beautiful, whose mission is to create, protect, and enhance the beauty and livability of the City (President of the Board 2012-2014); current Board member of the Marina Community Association; currently serve on Marina Earthquake Memorial Committee. I have long supported the City's Transit First Policy. Most recently, I have been heartened to see MUNI Forward undertake its ambitious projects, and I have taken an active interest in the SFMTA's on-street car-sharing pilot program. As a Board member of San Francisco Beautiful I have been spending more time and effort on transportation issues, which are increasingly affecting the livability of the City.

Statement of objectives:

With a long history of civic involvement, I wish to shift the focus on my efforts to the complex transportation issues that affect all City residents, especially as they involve senior citizen/pedestrian safety, traffic congestion, and the reliability of MUNI buses. My objective is to help find palatable solutions for these thorny issues and to make the City a safer, better place for all who have an interest in improving the broad category of "transportation" in our City -- pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and local businesses. I wish to continue serving the City in ways that I am able.

Statement of qualifications:

I was born and grew up in Sofia, Bulgaria; finished my high school education in England (on the outskirts of London); came to the U.S. for college (I studied economics and comp sci & math at Yale University in New Haven); worked with a strategy consulting firm based in Boston for a while; and then arrived in San Francisco in 2005, where I have been working mostly on strategy for technology companies. I also spent a few months living / working in New York City, Seattle, and in Singapore.

In addition to cultivating a broad global perspective, and long-term strategic thinking, my experience has allowed me to see and compare public transportation in all of these different cities (most of which have a denser and more established public transportation system than SF and are doing many things from which SF could probably draw inspiration for best practices).

My global & U.S. experience with different cities, my studies of economics, and my work on various strategy projects have afforded me a keen appreciation of the important role that an effective and affordable transportation system plays not only in good urban panning, but also in the economic development of a City, and in combating income inequality and promoting healthy socio-economics for everyone in the City.

I love San Francisco (I very much hope to spend the rest of my life here) and I care deeply both about preserving the diversity of the City and ensuring social justice and fairness for all resident, and about the economic development of the City and ensuring that it remains a world-leading center of innovation.

I recently became a U.S. citizen.

Statement of objectives:

- Provide input on matters that go before the Transportation Authority Board and its standing committees (e.g. transportation plans, programs and studies; funding priorities; transportation-related tax proposals; and transportation-related legislation).

Statement of qualifications:

I am a resident of District 6 since 2004. I am a librarian with the San Francisco Public Library; from 2008 - 2013 I worked in the Government Information Center. From 2008 - 2011 I was a member of the Green Stacks Comittee, which was tasked with bringing the Library into compliance with the goals of the City's Clmate Action Plan. In 2010 I received a Green and Blue Award for Sustainable Transportation for my work on the Library's commute survey. I have been a member of the San Francisco Bike Coalition since 1997. I walk or ride a bicycle as my primary mode of transportation. I am a parent, and our family is car-free. I have lived in San Francisco since 1991, and I have biked, walked, or taken public transportation all over the City and the Bay Area. Currently, over half of my travel occurs within District 6.

Statement of objectives:

My primary objective if appointed would be to advocate for pedestrian and bicycle safety in District 6. Much of the population growth in San Francisco is occurring on the Eastern side of the City, with District 6 becoming increasingly residential. At the same time, the District is a thoroughfare for commuters, which makes travel conditions difficult and dangerous for bicyclists and pedestrians. My priority would be speak up for these residents so that they can safely go about their lives. We must keep Vision Zero in mind and work to prevent another death on our streets.

Statement of qualifications:

I have lived in San Francisco for six years in several neighborhoods, including the Mission, Western Edition, and now SOMA. During that time, I've used almost every different form of transportation on a daily basis, including BART, Muni, my car, and now walking to work. Therefore, I think I can appreciate the different perspectives that people can have depending on what sort of transportation they use. In addition, I have a legal and government background which will help me understand both the process and the relationships that must be appreciated to accomplish goals in governing.

Statement of objectives:

I am interested in being part of the Transportation Committee to make transportation in the city safer and more efficient. Walking to work every day in SOMA can often be a treacherous task as cars jam through intersections to beat lights without realizing there may be pedestrians or bicyclists. I think the city should be encouraging more people to walk, bike, or use public transit. We must also recognize that cars are a reality, and craft ways to make that safer - whether it's lower speed limits in SOMA, bike lanes that are actually separated from car traffic, or scheduling more construction projects on nights and weekends to alleviate the daily grind of traffic that causes cars to drive recklessly whenever they see an opening.

Please see attached resume

Leah Shahum recommended that I apply to serve on the Transportation Authority's Citizens Advisory Committee. As a San Francisco resident, I am extremely interested in improving mobility through transit and infrastructure projects. Also, as a former diversity and cross-cultural trainer, I am passionate about ensuring and expanding equitable access to the multi-modal transit systems that serve our city's diverse population of workers and residents. Finally, as a cylcist and bicycle industry professional, I am dedicated to advocating for improvement to our bicycle network, with a special focus on supporting the goals of Vision Zero for pedestrians and cyclists alike. I am inspired by the goal of creating safer streets.

Some background on me: Althrough I reside in the Mission District, I cycle through SOMA on a daily basis, using the Howard and Folsom street bike lanes to commute to and from downtown. Before I began cycling, I commuted for years on the 14-Mission bus to downtown. I am quite familiar with District 6, and would be pleased to contribute to discussions regarding forthcoming transit developments such as the 2nd street corridor, the re-designs of Market, Mission, Polk Streets, and of course, the Transbay Transit Center.

As a committee member, you can expect from me: reliability, punctuality, commitment and organization. I will always consider the impact of changes to transit or infrastructure projects upon San Francisco's most underserved and vulnerable citizens and users. Also, I will speak thoughtfully on issues that are important to my community, while considering divergent perspectives that may also exist on the committee. Above all, in any group I serve, my strengths involve listening for points of agreement when conflict emerges and highlighting mutually beneficial solutions or compromises that might not be readily apparent.

Statement of qualifications:

I live in South Beach across the street from the Ballpark and until very recently worked in the Financial District as the principal of a law firm specializing in elder financial abuse litigation. Over the last ten years, I have walked from home to work five days a week and am a dedicated transit user for personal errands. For quite some time, I have been very interested in urban transit issues, have read widely on the subject, and have participated in public hearings on a number of projects, including the Second Street Improvement Project. While I strongly believe that rural and suburban transportation solutions (namely automobility) are anathema to dense urban environments, I appreciate some of the attractions of private car use, both because I lived for many years in the suburbs and because my wife is disabled and often must rely on a car for transportation. In my profession, I have worked extensively with the California Legislature and have written many bills relating to financial abuse that have been enacted. Accordingly, I am able to collaborate well with others who may hold disparate and often conflicting public policy views.

Statement of objectives:

My high level objective for participating on the CAC is to provide thoughtful and meaningful input from an urban transit and pedestrian viewpoint and thus help shape transportation priorities so that San Francisco continues to develop a more equitable and multi-modal transportation mix that better promotes urban liveability.

Prufcssional Experience: Over 40 years as a Me,chamca1 EngJnt:er, wi th a California Pl: license. Projects included mining and metals projects; steam, nuclear, and hydro

power projects and micro-electronic facility projects. I retired as a supervisor at Bechtel in SF. My work included: air and water pollution reduction; water distribution and mechanical facility components of projects .

L ommumty Sen'ice: Member of the Sierra Club since 1961 and have been an elected member of the SF Group Executive Cotmnili.ee and ~hair ofthe Transportation

CoTP .. nnttee since i 985. Member of the Greater ·west Portal Neighborhood Association, GWPNA, since 1972 <Uid served three years as President and served as Editor. Represented GWPNA at the Coalition for San Francisco Neighborhoods and served as President and Editor of the CSFN and chair of their Transportation Committee. Appointed by the Board of Supervisors to the Hazardous Materials Advisory Committee and served as chair. I was a member of the ad hoc Pedestrian Safety Task Force since 1994 and served as Convener. The Task Force was involved in the ordinance that fonned the PSAC. I helped form Rescue Muni in 1996 and served as elected member of the Executive Committee and chair of the Metro Committee. I served as project director for the GWPNA grant from the Health Department to study traffic calming and pedestrian safety improvemt:nts in Lh~ ndghborhood. I served as a mt:mber, appointed hy the Rules Committee, since it was formed and 1 am now Secreta!'; of the Pedestrian Safety Advisory Committee. I was a member of the Van Ness BRT Advisory Committee and our work ended when the preliminary design was approved by the Planning Department, the SFMTA and the Board of Supervisors.

Statement of Objectives: I hope to work toward explaining to all the members of th.;: CAC: That it is essential on our narrow and congested streets that we get our

priorities in order: speedy, safe aild reliable movement of transit; safe a."ld pleasant movement of pedestrians and bicyc.Jists; efficient movement of trucks for goods and services and lastly cars. Muni cannot achieve the first priority urJess all City agencies work for implementation of the Transit First Policy, as required in the Charter. We all have to recognize that a one minute reduction in running time on every Muni route reduces Muni operating costs by 2% or $1 6,000,000.

Meeting: I have class on January 14, but I can get to City Hall via the 5 Fulton shortly after noon or a little sooner if required.
