2. Apple pad 3 The ipad is a line of tablet computers designed and marketed by primarily as a platform for audio- visual media including books, periodicals, movies, music, games, apps and web content. Its size and weight fall between those of contemporary smartphones and laptop computers. The iPad runs on OS, the same operating system used on Apples iPod Touch and iPhone, and can run its own applications as well as iPhone applications. Without modification, the iPad will only run programs approved by Apple and distributed via the Apple App Store 3. Apple pad 3 Like iPhone and iPod Touch, the iPad iscontrolled by a multitouch display a departurefrom most previous tablet computers, which useda pressure-triggered stylus as well as a virtualonscreen keyboard in lieu of a physical keyboard. iPad is sold in Wi-Fi and cellular models. The Wi-Fi connection is used to access local areanetworks and the Internet. Cellular models havea 3G orLTE wireless network interface which canconnect to HSPA or EV-DO data networks inaddition to Wi-Fi. Since the release of iOS 5, thedevice does not need to be managedand synced by iTunes running on a personalcomputer via USB cable. 4. Apple pad 3 5. Apple pad 3 6. Apple pad 3 Hardware Screen and input:The iPads (first two generations) touchscreen display is a 1024 768 pixel, 7.755.82 in (197148 mm) liquid crystal display (diagonal 9.7 in (246.4 mm)), with fingerprint and scratch-resistant glass. Steve Jobs said a 7-inch screen would be "too small to express the software" and that 10 inches was the minimum for a tablet screen. Like the iPhone, the iPad is designed to be controlled by bare fingers; normal, non-conductive gloves and styli do not work, although there are special gloves and capacitive styli designed for this use 7. Apple pad 3 Software Digital rights management:The iPad employs Digital Rights Management to prevent users from copying or transferring certain content outside of Apples platform without authorization, such as TV shows, movies, and apps. Also, the iPads development model requires anyone creating an app for the iPad to sign a non-disclosure agreement and pay for a developer subscription. Critics argue Apples centralized app approval process and control of the platform itself could stifle software innovation. Of particular concern to digital rights advocates is Apples ability to remotely disable or delete apps on any iPad at any time. 9. Apple pad 3 Digital 10. Books, news, and magazine content The iPad has an optional iBooks application that can be downloaded from the App Store, which displays books and other ePub-format content downloaded from the iBookstore. For the iPad launch on April 3, 2010, the iBookstore is available only in the United States. Several major book publishers including Penguin Books, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster and Macmillan have committed to publishing books for the iPad. Despite being a direct competitor to both the Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook both Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble have made Kindle & Nook apps available 11. pad 3 Books 12.
