APPI PPG & PARATRIKE EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Background APPI PPG & ParaTrike is the only international Paramotoring and ParaTriking Association that licenses Pilots, Tandem Pilots and Instructors around the world. It is the sister organisation of APPI, the International Paragliding Association, and was formed by Alex Ledger in 2011 with the aim of creating a universal training system that increased safety in the sports. At present there are approximately 2,000 members around the world.

The APPI PPG & ParaTrike training system allows Pilots, Tandem Pilots and Instructors to progress in these sports in a safe, structured and professional way. The Association is particularly important for countries that lack a National Association or a structured training system. In some countries with their own National Associations and training systems it has become a popular alternative. This is due to APPI PPG & ParaTrike’s modern training systems and the other benefits we offer our members, which include:

Where do APPI PPG & ParaTrike currently operate?

To date we have run APPI PPG & ParaTrike Instructor Workshops in the following countries:

1. Oman - Training System authorised by the Omani CAA 2. Iran - Training System recognised by the IRIAA 3. Kuwait - Training System recognised by the KASC 4. Indonesia - Training System recognised by the IMF 5. Brazil - Training System recognised by the CBPM and ABUL 6. Greece 7. Italy 8. Spain 9. UK - Training System authorised by the Ministry of Defence 10. Cyprus 11. Nepal 12. Saudi Arabia - Training System recognised by the Saudi Aviation Club 13. South Africa 14. Qatar - Air Sports Committee currently reviewing the Training System 15. Thailand - RASAT currently reviewing the Training System 16. India

During these Instructor Workshops we teach the Trainee Instructors how to instruct the APPI PPG & ParaTrike Pilot training syllabus, while assessing their skills, knowledge and mentality. At the end of the workshop the Trainees are issued with either an Assistant Instructor or Instructor license. Only Master Instructors can run APPI PPG & ParaTrike Instructor Workshops. When we identify highly experienced Instructors who have the necessary skills, knowledge and mentality to become a Master Instructor we invite them to assist on another Instructor Workshop in order to attain the Master Instructor license. We currently have 9 APPI PPG & ParaTrike Master Instructors in 6 different countries:

APPI PPG & ParaTrike Performance Pilot Training System

More and more countries around the world are seeing the benefits of the APPI PPG & ParaTrike Pilot and Instructor Training systems because of the focus on safe and professional training. However accidents continue to occur, especially in competitions and events. APPI PPG & ParaTrike believes that a clear and concise Training System for trainee competition pilots will reduce the risk of serious accidents in the future.

The Education System (see below) has been designed specifically to allow Advanced Pilots to become Performance Pilots and for Instructors to become Performance Trainers. APPI PPG & ParaTrike has formed a committee made up of highly experienced Competition Coaches to develop a training system designed to train and certify Performance Pilots so they can compete in Classic and Slalom competitions safely. It is proposed that the FAI recognise these APPI PPG & ParaTrike Performance Pilot courses and certificates.
