GAME 9 AT WAKE FOREST DECEMBER 7, 20172017-18 APPALACHIAN
Appalachian is in the second game of a four-game road trip when it faces Wake Forest tonight. The Mountaineers are coming off a 56-43 loss to North Carolina on Sunday, where they held the Tar Heels to a season-low 56 points and 29.8 field goal percentage LaPresha Stanley entered triple-double territory where she posted a team-high nine points and career highs in rebounds (8) and assists (6) Maya Calder had her best performance of the season with eight points and six rebounds, which are both career highs Bayley Plummer grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds, giving the sophomore her second game of the season with at least 15 off the glass. Plummer is leading the Sun Belt Conference in rebounds per game at 12.3 and is eighth in the nation. After playing a full 40 minutes for the second time in the past three games, Tierra Wilson now leads the conference in minutes per game at 36.4 and is fourth amongst all freshman in the country in minutes played per game. App States and Wake Forest face each other for the first time since the 2010-11 season when App dealt WF a 64-57 defeat on the Demon Deacons home floor. Apps 10 wins are the most against any school in the ACC. Appalachian is looking for its first win against an ACC opponent since defeating NC State in the 2011-12 WNIT in Raleigh.

The Demon Deacons have responded after a four-game skid to capture back-to-back wins against Elon and Xavier. WF dealt the Musketeers a 63-57 defeat on Monday night in Cincinnati. Jen Hoover is in her sixth season at the helm, where she is 78-92 all-time at WF. WF is fourth in the ACC in 3-point field goal percentage defense, allowing opponents to shoot just 29.2 percent from the floor. Four players led by Elisa Penna (11.7 ppg) are scoring in double figures. Alex Sharp leads the team in rebounding at a clip of eight per game and a team-high 30 assists. Wake Forest gives up the second-most points per possession on defense at .897 points WF is allowing teams to shoot 18.7 free throws per contest, which is the most in the ACC, while the 14 points allowed per game is also an ACC high. The Deacons are 13th in the conference in field goal percentage at 39.2 percent
