Admission Criteria
Option 1: Graduate of a 2-year allied health program (Radiography, Respiratory, Nurse, etc) with a direct patient care clinical intern/externship
OR
Option 2: Bachelors degree, any major, from an accredited college or university
AND(effective March 2010 class)
Completion of the following courses with a “C” or better: Anatomy & Physiology – 3 credit hours General Physics or Radiographic Physics – 3 credit hours English (Speech, Communications, etc) – 3 credit hours Algebra (or any higher mathematics course) – 3 credit hours

DMS 248: Clinical Preceptorship 1 DMS 214: Case Studies (on campus-15 hours) DMS 299: Clinical Preceptorship 2 DMS 300: Registry Review (on campus - 40 hours
through Pegasus Lectures with a “*Pass guarantee”)
* Pass Guarantee is offered by Pegasus Lectures and it means that if a student does not pass the registry test, they can retake the review seminar for free.

Proficiency and Competency Based Program Prior to Clinical Externship- 12 scanning Proficiencies must be
completed Prior to Graduation- 31 Core Competencies must be completed
(Abdomen, OB-GYN, Vascular) Students keep a complete clinical portfolio to track all exams and
competencies completed (useful for interviews and documentation of training received)
Students are prepared to sit for the ARDMS examinations (Physics, Abdomen & OB-GYN) upon graduation

300 minimum number of hours that must be completed-more scan time is
available to the students Lab equipped with current A/V technology, 6 scanning stations and 1
Med Sim Ultrasound Simulator. Students must complete scanning proficiencies (Abdomen, Pelvic, OB-
Normal, Thyroid, Carotid Doppler, LE Venous Doppler, etc.) prior to release to clinical externship
Clinical Externship Hours 1,250
Students must complete 31 core competencies in Abdomen, OB-GYN and Vascular to graduate from the program

Approved by every major professional organization that has dealings with sonography including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), American College of Radiology (ACR), American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM), Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRCDMS), Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS)
