•“Buzz” Aldrin – Montclair, New Jersey

•Michael Collins – Rome, ItalyTraining

•Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science, Engineering, Physical Science, or Mathematics. 3 years in a career using one of those skills.

•Pass a Class II Space Physical. (Correctable eyesight to 20/20 vision, Blood Pressure 140/90 sitting, Height between 58.5 and 76 inches.)

•With Apollo 11, the United States won the Space Race.

•The United States succeeded in putting a man on the moon and returning him safely. The Soviet Union could not compete with this, and gave up the Space Race.

•This action put the United States ahead of the Soviet Union technologically. The loss of the Space Race made the Soviets seem inferior to the Americans.
