• The integration of both natural materials and high technology to increase productivity in the

work place environment.

Creating Situation where noise pollution becomes a factor. Such as when one of the year groups are giving presentations and the others are working at the computers or in seminar discussions. There for I propose to redesign

this space in order to promote a better workplace environment for all.

For this project I chose to look at our studio space, at the moment the space is set up as an open plan environment. This helps the elution

that the space is larger then it really is, however it doesn’t fully cater for the growing number of

student that occupy it.

As one can see from the plans of the existing space the studio is set up as an open planned environment with two small storage rooms next to it. I propose to take the storage rooms and create a computer lab that would be able to double as a seminar room. Then by erecting a partitioning wall along side the “nook”,

create a second computer lab that could also be doubled as another seminar or lecture space. Leaving the open area as an exhibition/ presentation space. In

keeping with wheelchair regulations all doors are wheelchair friendly.

The three retracting tables in the exhibition/ presentation space are designed to promote a maximum virility of situations. All three section of the table can be lowered or raised to create a number of different work

environments and each table is designed to cater for the greatest number of students in one time. In time where an exhibition space is required the tables can be retracted into the ground and out of site.

All interior windows are made from “INTELLIGENT GLASS PARTITIONS”, a glass type material that can be switched from a

transparent window to a translucent material with the flip of a switch. The use of this material enables the three separate spaces to appear like an

open plan environment, however also enabling the chose of a private space should it be required. All interior windows can also double as projection screens, thus eliminating the need for pull down screens.

All projector screens with in the space are enabled with smart screen technology; this allows the maximum usage from a small amount of projectors. The technology Automatically calibrates the

projector to enabling it to project on to more then one surface. A variation of the same technology can be used to create electronic whiteboards, thus eliminating the need for a freestanding

whiteboard.
