    A. Code of Conduct

    Byenteringthevenue,youconsenttohavingyourlikenessbeingusedinanymediarecordedfromtheeventforanypublishingoutlets.

    Allentrantsmustberegisteredasaplayerorspectator,musthaveamediapass,

    orhavetheconsentoftheApexStafftoenterthevenue.AllattendeeswillhaveeitherabadgeorawristbandandMUSTBEVISIBLEatalltimes.Ifyouarecaughtwithouttheseyouwillbeejectedfromthevenue.

    Anyviolencethathappensonthepremisesoftheeventwillhaveyouwarnedor

    removedfromthevenuewithoutarefund,andapossiblebanmayoccurfromfutureeventsdependingontheseverityoftheact.Thisincludes(butnotlimitedto):Verbalabuse,discriminatingactions(againstbisexuals,transsexuals,homosexuals,AfricanAmericans,oranyotherraceorreligionthatcanbedeemeddiscrimination(yes,callingapersonoractiongay,sayingrapetodescribehowbadlyyoulost,callingagirldisrespectfulnamesallfallunderthiscategory),extremedisrespecttowomenandmenalike,fighting,and/orassault.

    Trashtalking,cheering,andanyinteractionbetweenplayers,orthecrowdand

    playersmustbekeptrespectful.Anyoneattemptingtoinsultaplayeronissuesthatdontpertaintothegamewillreceiveatechnicalfoul.AllplayersareaskedtokeepitPG.ExcessivefoullanguageispunishablewithaTechnicalFoul.

    TwoTechnicalFoulswillresultinaDQfromalleventsandpossibleejectionfrom

    thevenue.

    Anyonefoundwithpossessionoforundertheinfluenceof,butnotlimitedto:IllegalDrugsincludingMarijuanaAlcohol,ifyourefoundtobeundertheageof21atthepresenttimeAlcohol,ifyoureover21,butarevisiblydrunkandcannotconductthemselvesinawaythatwouldbesuitableforthepublic

    WILLbeimmediatelyejectedfromthevenue,andfortherestofthetournamentsduration.Therewillbenowarnings,andnobiasinthesedecisions.

    Smokingisonlypermittedinthedesignatedareasoutsidethebuilding.Anyplayer

    caughtsmokinginthebuildingwillbeejected,withoutwarning,fortherestoftheweekend.

  • Allattendeesareresponsiblefortheirownbelongings.Bypayingtheregistration

    asplayersorspectators,youagreethatanythingyoubringintothevenueisyourresponsibility.ApexStaff,theClarionHotel,andanysponsorsthereinclaimnoresponsibilityforitemswhicharelost,damaged,ordestroyedasaresultofbeingontournamentgrounds.

    Anyattendeecaughttamperingwith,manipulating,orattemptingtoremove

    anythingfromaconsoleoranyequipmentinthevenuewithoutexpressedconsentfromApexStaffwillbeimmediatelyejected.

    Allrecordingisallowedwiththestipulationthatyoudontuploaddirectfeed

    footagefromthemainstages.

    Anyvisiblehardwareorsoftwaremodificationstogamesystemsarenotallowedforhackingorbackuploadingusage.

    Noweapons,regardlessoflegalityorlicense,willbeallowedtobebroughtinto

    thevenue.Anyplayerfoundinpossessionofaweapon(Knife,Gun,etc.)willbeimmediatelyejectedfromthevenueandbarredfromreentering.

    Anyissuesthatariseoutsideofthesetermswillbeheldonacasebycase

    basis,andbejudgedbytheApexStaff.

    B. General Tournament Rules

    Tardinesswillnotbeaccepted.Anyonewhoisnotpresentfortheirpoolorbracketby5minutespastthescheduledstarttime,withoutpriorcommunicationwithaTournamentOrganizer(TO),issubjecttoatotaldisqualificationfromtheevent.

    TheTOreservestherighttodenyentryintothetournamenttoanyplayer

    suspectedofcommittinganythingconsideredacrimeoractinginamannerthatisdetrimentaltotheintegrityoftheevent.

    TheTOreservestherighttodenypayoutfromeventwinningstoanyplayer

    suspectedofintentionallythrowingamatch,splittingapayout,orcommittinganyotherformofbracketmanipulation.

    TheTOreservestherighttosettleanyunforeseensituationsthatmayoccur,and

    hisjudgmentisfinal.Inextremesituations,rulesmaybealteredbetweenphasesofatournamentinthebestinterestsoftheevent.

  • Gamesorsetsarenottobereplayedduetoamisinterpretationoftherulesitis

    theplayersresponsibilitiestoasktheTOforanyclarificationoftherulesetintheeventofadisagreement,andtheoutcomeofagameorsetwillnotbechangedafterthefactunlessunderextremecircumstances.

    Coaching:Anycoachingthathappensduringthematch(butnotinbetween

    gamesoftheset)isrestricted.Playerswhoviolatethisrulewillreceiveawarning(BOTHtheplayerANDthepersoncoachingtheplayer)onthefirstattempt.Playerswhoviolatethisruleafterawarningwillbedisqualifiedfromtheeventandapossibleejectionfromthevenue.

    Collusionofanykindwithyourcompetitorsisforbidden.IftheTOdetermines

    thatanycompetitoriscolludingtomanipulatetheresultsorintentionallyunderperforming,thecolludingplayersmaybeimmediatelydisqualified.ThisdeterminationistobemadeatthesolediscretionoftheTO.Anyonedisqualifiedinthismannerforfeitsallrightstoanytitlesorprizestheymighthaveotherwiseearnedforthattournament.

    AnysituationthatcanarisethatisNOTlisted,butcouldbeanissuetothestaffor

    theplayerswillbetakencareofatthediscretionoftheTO(s).YouhavearighttoappealtotheTO(s)aboutanyminoroffensethathappenswithinyourplayedevent,however,theTO(s)isfinal.Anyargumentwillresultinfurtherpenaltyorpossibleejectionfromthevenuedependingontheseverityoftheactwithoutarefund.

    C. Additional Rules

    StageSelectionClause:Anystagemaybeplayedonifbothplayersagreetoit.PlayersmayNOTagreetochangethenumberofmatchestobeplayed.

    DoubleBlindCharacterSelection:Eitherplayermayrequestthatadouble

    blindselectionoccur.Inthissituation,a3rdpartyshouldbetold,insecret,each

  • ofplayerschoicesforthefirstround.Bothplayersaretothenselecttheirfirstroundcharacter,withthe3rdpartyvalidatingthatthecharacterselectedisthesameastheirword.

    PortPriority:Ifanagreementcannotbemadeastowhogetswhatport,the

    playersmayenactabestof1gameofRockPaperScissorsorGame&WatchJudgment(theplayerwhogetsthehighernumberwins).Winnergetstheirportselection,loserselectsanyotherport.

    NeutralStart:Eitherplayermayenactthisrule.Onceenacted,bothplayersmay

    onlyuseoneofthetwoNeutralStartingPositions.G&WsJudgmentHammerorabestofonegameofRockPaperScissorsmaybeusedtodeterminewhogetsthehigherport.IfboththePortPriorityandNeutralStartrulesareinvoked,theplayerwhoisgrantedPortPriorityselectsoneoftheneutralstartports.NeutralstartingportsareonlyapplicabletoSuperSmashBros.(64)andSuperSmashBros.Melee.ForanySmashBros.game,playersmayelecttomovetooppositesidesofthestageandthencountdownpriortostartingthematch

    PausingthegameshallonlybelegalwhileeitherplayerremainsupontheirOWN

    respawnplatform,andonlyforthepurposeofsummoningatournamentofficialorinthecaseofacontrollermalfunction.Allotherpauseswillincurastocklosstotheplayerwhopausesthegame.Ifthepausecausestheopponenttoloseastock,theplayerwhopausesforfeits2stocks.

    Stallingisbanned:Theactofstallingisintentionallymakingthegame

    unplayable.Stallingtacticsincludebutarenotlimitedtobecominginvisible,continuinginfinites,chaingrabs,oruninterruptiblemovespast300%,andreachingapositionthatyouropponentcanneverreachyou.Anyactionthatcanpreventthegamefromcontinuing(i.e.,pausing,freezeglitches,disappearingcharacters,gamereset,etc.)willresultinaforfeitofthatmatchfortheplayerthatinitiatedtheaction.Youareresponsibleforknowingyourowncharacter,andmustbewaryaboutaccidentallytriggeringoneoftheseeffects.

    TimeOuts/Ties:Thewinnerofamatchthatgoestotime(timeout)willbe

    determinedbystocksandpercentage.Whenthetimerhits0:00playerwiththehigherstockcountisthewinner.Ifbothplayersaretiedinstockstheplayerwiththelowerpercentageisthewinner.Intheeventofapercentagetie,oramatchinwhichbothplayerslosttheirlaststocksimultaneously,a1stocktiebreakerwillbeplayedwithtimelimitequaltotheregulartimelimitdividedbytheregularnumberofstocks,roundedup.SuddenDeathisnottobeplayedatall,andwillnotcount.

    Stocksharingisallowedindoubles.

  • ColorblindRule:Playersmayrequestthattheiropponentchangecolorsto

    accommodatecolorblindnessoriftheircolorisindistinguishablefromeithertheotherteamcolororthestagebackground.Therequestmustbemadebeforethematchstarts.

    Warmups:Warmupperiods,buttonchecks,andhandwarmersmaynot

    exceed30secondsonthegameclock.ViolationofthisrulemayresultinanautomaticforfeitatthediscretionoftheTO.

    ForcedCharacterSelection:Thelosingplayeroncehadtheoptiontoselect

    RandomStageastheircounterpickandremovetheoptiontochangecharactersfromthewinnerofthepreviousround.Thisisnolongerlegal.IfaplayerwishestoselectRandomStageastheircounterpick,thewinnerofthepreviousroundmaychoosetochangetheircharacter.

    StageStriking:PlayerseliminatestagesfromtheStarter/Neutrallistuntilthereis

    onestageremaining.**

    Controllers:Alternateorcustomcontrollers/adaptersareallowed.***Playerssuspectedofusingturbofunctionsorothermacrosaresubjecttoimmediatedisqualificationfromthetournament.Playersareresponsibleforsettingupcustomcontrollersinatimelymanner.

    PlayerswhousetheWiiRemotemusttakethebatteriesoutoftheWiiRemotewhennotplaying.IftheWiiRemoteisstillsynceduptoaWiiwiththebatteriesin,youcouldunintentionallydisruptamatch.Ifproblemspersist,aDQmayhappen.Anymalfunctionsorerrorsassociatedwithyourcontrollerareyourresponsibility,somakesureyoureusingthecorrectsettingsBEFOREamatchisplayed.Bothpartiesneedtoagreeifamatchistobepausedorrestartedbecauseofacontrollerproblem.**Seeindividualgamerulesfordetailedstagestrikingprocedures.***ThereareexceptionsforSuperSmashBros.forWiiU.SeeSectionVI(C).

    Intheeventofa1stocktiebreakermatchoccurring,aLGLof15isused

    forallcharacters.

    Intheeventofagamereachingthetimelimit,ifasingleplayeronateamexceedstheirLGL,thatteamloses.IfoneormoreplayersonbothteamsexceedtheirLGL,thentheLGLruleisignored.

    IntheeventofagamegoingtotimeandtheLGLcannotdeterminea

    winnerandbothteamshaveanequalamountofcombinedstocks,thenwhicheverteamhasalowercombinedpercentisdeclaredthewinner.

    Scrooging:Playersmaynottravelunderthestagefromtheledgemore

    thanonce.Travelingunderthestagefromtheledgeisdefinedasdroppingofftheledgeononesideofthestageandreachingtheheightoftheoriginalledgeontheothersideofthestage.Whenoneoftheplayersisattackedbytheotherandtakesdamage,thenoscroogingruledoesnotapply.Ifaplayerisfoundtobeperformingtheactofscroogingbyatournamentorganizer(byhis/herdiscretion),theplayerwillforfeitthatmatch.

  • ThemovingplatformonSmashvilleoranyplatformthatisnotthemainstage(Battlefieldplatforms,CastleSiegeplatforms,etc.)areconsideredtobeequivalenttoaledge,i.e.ifaplayerstartsfromthemovingplatformononesideofthestageandtravelsbeneaththestagetotheledge/platformontheoppositesideofthestage,theplayermaynottravelbeneaththestagebacktotheledge/movingplatformontheoppositesidebeforeuntilhelandsbackontheplatform.

    AlternateControllers:TheWiiUGamepad,Nintendo3DS,and

    Nintendo2DSarebannedfromuseascontrollers.Allothercontrollersareacceptableforthisevent.

    BowserJrsClownCarGlitch:IftheBowserJr.sClownCarGlitch

    happens,playersaretopausethematchandcallaTOorarefereeovertoconfirmtheglitchhashappened.Onceconfirmed,playerswillresetthematchtothesamestocksandgetasclosetothepercentsastheyhadwhentheGlitchtookplace.(TheBowserJr.ClownCarGlitchhappenswhenthecarrespawnsafterusingUpBrightbeforetheplayerlosestheirstock.Thecharacterstartstoteleportaround,alsohitboxesandanimationsforBowserJr.change.)
