APA STYLE: SETTING UP THE RUNNING HEAD AND PAGE NUMBER

1)Click on the INSERT tab.

2)Click HEADER.3)Scroll down to

EDIT HEADER.

4) Once in EDIT HEADER, a new tab will open (HEADER & FOOTER TOOLS). On this tab find and check the box for DIFFERENT FIRST PAGE.

5) Click on PAGE NUMBER.6) Choose TOP OF PAGE. 7) Choose PLAIN NUMBER 3. A number 1 will appear on the right. Leave the cursor to the left of the number.

8) Next, with the cursor on the left of your page number, type Running head: TITLE OF YOUR PAPER.

8) Hit the TAB button on the keyboard twice to get the Running head and title over to the left side of the paper.

You have now completed the header and page number for your TITLE page.

9) To add a header to the second page, click on PAGE NUMBER. Choose PLAIN NUMBER 3 again. You’ll notice that the number 2 will appear in the right corner, continuing the page sequence from the previous page.

Repeat process for second page!

10) With the cursor to the left of the page number, type in the TITLE OF YOUR PAPGER. Then TAB twice to move the TITLE over to the left corner.
