Enrollment for Fall, 2012

Page 8: AP Coordinator Webinar

USE DATA TO HELP GET STUDENTS INTO RIGOROUS COURSES RATHER THAN USING DATA TO KEEP STUDENTS OUT OF RIGOROUS COURSES

EXPLORE data should be used to appropriately place 9th grade students into pre-AP courses

PLAN data should be used to appropriately place 11th (and 12th) grade students into AP classes

All schools should make a diligent effort to educate parents about the benefits of Advanced Placement and other rigorous courses

You are welcome to use the A+ College Ready parent meeting presentation and/or invite one of our staff members to come speak with your parents

A+ College Ready expects that enrollment in AP classes will grow

around 15% per year

Page 9: AP Coordinator Webinar

Please let A+ College Ready know if you are planning to offer additional AP courses in the 2012 – 2013 school year

Teachers who will teach these new courses should be registered for APSI

March 30 is the priority deadline for ordering AP Exams from the College Board

Once you create your order, you (or your district or school financial person) can create a Purchase Order to the College Board and request your money for exams from the State AP Grant Award

You will be receiving an email from T. Dunn asking you to report the current enrollment of each of your classes and the number of exams that you order for each class

Logistical Information

Page 14: AP Coordinator Webinar

You have received an email with instructions for students who are eligible to retake certain courses

Highly motivated AP Biology or AP Chemistry students are eligible to take the AP Environmental Science exam without taking the course

In order for A+ College Ready to contribute to the exam fee for these students they must agree to and participate in 6 hours of tutoring for the exam

Each teacher who provide the tutoring MUST have a separate contract for this work in order for the teacher & the student to be eligible for the $100/qs

If these conditions are met, A+ College Ready will contribute $50/exam toward each of these students’ exams

Exam Retakes or AP Environmental Science Exams for students who have

not taken the course

Page 15: AP Coordinator Webinar

It is IMPERATIVE that AP exams be administered by an individual who clearly understands how the AP exam is to be given, i.e. amount of time on each section, whether or not calculators are allowed, etc.

There should be NO announcements or interruptions during the AP examination

It is the responsibility of the AP coordinator to make certain that all AP exams are administered properly. The AP Coordinator does not have to administer each exam but should go over the testing guidelines with each test administrator.
