General informationAcomfortableatmosphere indoors is reachedwitha re­lativehumidity levelbetween40and60%.Yourhumidi­fier automatically controls the humidity level accordingtodesiredsetting. If theair is toodry, thehumidifierwillautomaticallyswitchon.Assoonasthedesiredhumiditylevelisreached,itwillswitchoff.

Unpacking• Carefullyremovethehumidifierfromthebox.Place

yourhandsunderneaththeproducttopullitoutofthebox(10).

• Warning:Donottaketheunitoutoftheboxbypullinguponthetankhandle­basemayfallandwillbeda­maged(11).

•Warning:Themistoutletispackedinaredbaginsidetheboxinsert.Makesurethatyouremovethemistoutletfromthepackaging(12).

enSetting upFindingtheideallocationforyourunit:• Donotplacethehumidifierdirectlynexttoaheating

ventoronafloorwithfloorheating.Themoistureofthemistcandamagethefloorsurface(6)(seeSafetyInstructions).

• Theunitshouldbeplacedinanelevatedposition(7),e.g.onatable,chest,etc.atleast3ftoffthefloor.

• Themistoutletmustnotbepointeddirectlyatplants,furniture,orotherobjects(14).Keepdistanceofatleast20inches(50cm).

• Soakthedemineralizationcartridgeinawaterbath24hoursbeforeusingit(15).Theresinhastoabsorbwatertoreachhighperformance.Ifitissoakedinthetank,makesuretoexchangethewaterandemptythewaterfromthebasebeforeusingthehumidifier.

• Onaveragethedemineralizationcartridgeshouldbereplacedevery2–3monthsdependingonyourwaterhardness.Someareasmayneedtoreplacethecart­ridgesooner,somemaylastlonger.Thecartridgemustbeexchangedatthelatestafter6monthsortheunitdoesnotreachitsfullperformanceanymore.

Do not operate the humidifier when the water tank isempty!Whenthewaterreachestheminimumlevel,theunitswitchesoffthenebulizerfunctionautomatically.Theredlightcomesonindicatingtankisempty.

•Removethewatertankfromthebaseandunscrewthewatertankcap(16).Caution:themistoutletisloose!

• Makesurethatnoforeignobjectsareinthewatertank.

• Fillthetankwithclean,coldwaterfromthetap(17).Closethecapofthewatertanksecurely,placethewa­tertankontothebase(18).Thewaterisnowrunningfromthetankintothebase.

• Donotpourwaterintothemistoutletoftheappliance(19).

• Inserttheplugintothesocketandswitchontheapplianceusingtheon/offdial(20).Theredemptyindicatorlightmaystayilluminatedforsomesecondsuntilthebaseisfilledwithwater.Thenthegreenlightcomeson.

Use of additivesWater additives (ethereal/essential oils, fragrances,eucalyptus, water conditioners, etc.) must not be used!Evenasmallamountcancausecracksinthematerial.Thematerialisn’tmadefortheuseofsuchadditives.Onedropisenoughtodamagethetankandasaconsequencetheunit.Anyuseofsuchadditiveswillvoidthemanufacturer’swarranty.

A) On/Off dialYoucanswitchtheunitonoroffbypressingbuttonA.Thisbuttonisalsousedtoresetthecleaningindicatorlight(byholdingdown).

B) Hygrostat (setting the humidity level)By pressing multi­functional button B (vertical) you cansetthedesiredhumiditylevelin%.Arelativehumidityofbetween40and60% is recommended.Theaccuracyofmeasurementis+/­5%.Theunitwillswitchoffwhenthemoisturelevelexceedsthedesiredsetting.Duringselectionthetargetvalueisdisplayed.Thedisplaywillautomaticallyshowthecurrentvalueafterafewseconds.

Operation 71�2 C) TimerUsing multi­functional button C (horizontal), the opera­tiontimecanbesetadjustablebetween1and8hours.Symbol Gshowstheoperatingperiodthathasbeenset(1h/2h/3h/4h/5h/6h/7h/8h).Thedisplaywillautomaticallyshowthecurrentvalueafterafewseconds.

D) Mist output (regulating mist output)ByrepeatedlypressingbuttonDyoucancontrolthemistoutput.TheLO/ME/HIdisplay(symbol H)showswhichofthethreelevels(low/medium/high)youhaveselected.

E) Operation with pre-heating (warm mist)ButtonEisusedforswitchingthepre­heatingonandoff(symbol Ilightsup).Asaresult,thewaterispre­heatedtoa temperatureof176°F (80°C) beforeenteringthenebulizerspace.Ittakesapprox.10to15minutesforthewater inthebasetowarmup.Themistnowleavesthehumidifieratapleasanttemperatureof104°F(40°C).Theadvantageofthisisthattheroomtemperaturedoesnotdropand, inaddition, itsignificantly improvesthewaterqualitymaintenance.

F) Automatic mode and Sleep modeTheautomaticandsleepmodescanbeactivatedbypres­singbuttonF.Bypressingthebuttononce,theautomaticfunctionisswitchedon(symbol Jappearsonthedisplay),maintainingtheoptimumhumiditysubjecttothetempera­ture.Controltakesplacebymeansofoutputquantityandpre­settargetvalue.Ifthesleepfunctionisswitchedon(thesymbol Kappearsonthedisplay),thetargethumidityis60%;theoperationtimeisautomaticallysetat6hours;theheatingisswitchedon.Inaddition,theoutputquantityisalsocontrolledsubject to thedifferencebetween thetargetvalueandtheactualvalue.The Timer cannot be changed in either mode. If otherbuttonsarepressed,theunitwillnolongerbeinautoorsleepmode.

Replacement of the demineralization cartridge

Always unplug the unit before removing thewatertank.Donottouchthewaterinthebaseduringoperation!

The water tank is equipped with a demineralization cart­ridge.Thiscartridgehastobereplacedevery2–3months.Ifthewaterisveryhard,itmaybenecessarytoreplacethecartridgeearlier.Whitedustaroundthedeviceisasuresignthat thecartridgeneeds replacing.Pleasenotewhitedustisnotharmful.Ifwhiteresiduestillformsaroundthedeviceafteranewcartridgehasbeeninserted,pleasemakesurethatthewateryouareusingisuntreated.Ifthewaterflowsthroughadecalcificationsystem–suchasanionexchanger–(sodiumisaddedtoremovecalcium)inthebuildingbeforeitisusedinthehumidifier,saltcanprecipitateaswhitedustaroundthedevice.Thedemineralizationcartridgeandorthegranulesmustbeexchangedatthelatestafter6monthsortheunitdoesnotreachitsfullperformanceanymore.

Option A: replace the resin•Removethewatertankfromthebaseandunscrewthe

watertankcap(30).Caution:themistoutletisloose!•Thedemineralizationcartridgeisattachedtothetank

Q.Why isn’t there enough moisture in my room?A. Howoftendoyouruntheunit?Iftheunitisonlyrunat

Q.Do you leave your door open or closed when the unit is running?

A. a) Byleavingthedooropen,thisallowsmoisturetoleavetheroomandgointootherareasofthehouse.Ifyouwouldlikethemoisturetostaywithinonespecificroomyoushouldconsiderclosingthedoorwhiletheunitisrunning.

A. b) Wood,leather,carpet,curtains,andothertypesoffabricsoakupalotofmoisture,thusnotleavingenoughmoisturefortheair.Ifthewindowisleftopen,thenthisallowsmoisturetoescapetheroom.Anotherfactorisalotoftimestheunitisplacednexttoaheatingdevice.Theideaisthattheairblowingintotheroomwillquicklyplacemoisturearoundtheroom.Unfortunately,thisconceptdoesnotworkbecausethehotaircomingoutofaventwillsoakupmostofthemoisture,andnoneoftheairwithintheroomwillreceiveany.

Q.How much moisture do I need in my room?A. Suggestedhumiditylevelsarebetween40–60%.

Q.What are the effects of too little or too much humidity?

Q.Why do I need a humidifier when I can just open my window?

A. Themoisturelevelwithintheoutsideairisnothighenoughtohumidifyaroom.Thecoldertheairthelessmoistureitiscapabletohold,andthemoretheairisheatedupthepercentageofrelativehumidityislower.Relativehumiditymeanstheamountofwatervaporintheair,comparedtotheamounttheaircouldholdifitwastotallysaturated.Thedifferenceishigherbetweenoutsideandinsidetemperatures;morehumidificationisneededbecauseofthedryairintheroom.

Q.Where should I place my humidifier?A. Theunitshouldbefree­standingandnotclosetoa

wall,window,door,orthermalbridgesothatairmaycirculatearoundtheunit.

Q.Why does it say open/close on the demineralization cartridge cap?

A. Thosedirectionsarethereincaseyoudecidetousetherefilloptiontoreplacethegranules;thepurposeisforhowtoopenandclosethecap.Ifyoudidopenthecapbeforeplacingitinthewatertank,youwillmostlikelynoticethattherearegranulesinthewatertankandthebaseoftheunit.Immediatelyturnofftheunit,andemptythewateroutofthebaseandthewatertank.Beginremovingallgranulesfrombaseandwatertank.Usebrushtocleanaroundmembrane.Caution:Donotdisposeofgranulesinsink!Usedgranulesmustgoinwaste!

Q. I just replaced my cartridge, and the contents and water in the base has turned a blue-green color.

A. Thissometimesoccurswhenthecartridge,oreventhegranules,arereplaced.Thisdoesnotoccurwithallreplacementcartridgesorgranules,andisareactionofwatercontentandtheUltrasonicvibrations.Thisisnotanindicatortoreplacethecartridge.

Q.There is no fill-line on the water tank, how far may I fill it up?

A. Thereisnofilllineonthewatertank,anditmaybefilledallthewaytothetop.

Q.What is the purpose of the demineralization cart-ridge (DMC)?

A. TheDMCremovesmineralsfromthewatertopreventwhitedust.Thecontentsofthecartridgeneedtobeso­akedfor24hrspriortofirstusingtheunitsothattheymayfullyexpandandremovemineralsfromthewater.ThecontentsoftheDMChavealifeof2–3months.Thecartridgemayneedtobereplacedmoreoftendependingonwaterhardnessandhowoftentheunitisused.AnindicationofwhentheDMCneedstobechangedcanbewhitedustorreducedamountofmistoutput.

Q. Is it ok to use distilled water with the unit?A. Forbestresultswithyourultrasonichumidifieruse

distilledorreverse­osmosiswaterandremovethedemineralizationcartridge.

Q. I just replaced the contents of the cartridge and now have granules everywhere.
