“Towards a Community of Excellence”
Muslim communities in non-member countries generally
lag behind others
Obstacles: Combinations of capability deprivation (lack of access
to education, health, opportunity), low levels of material assets, and socio-political marginality over
long periods
IDB INTERVENTIONS: to help in improving socio-economic conditions of Muslim communities and preserving their
cultural and religious identities in order to make meaningful contribution to the development of their
countries and to the Ummah through special assistance projects, capacity building and scholarships.
