September 03 – Chicago departure Depart Chicago this afternoon on your transatlantic non-stop flight to Stockholm. Private motor coach transportation from Peoria to O’Hare Airport is included. September 04 – Arrival Stockholm (D) You arrive in the morning in Stockholm, capital city of Sweden. Called “Venice of the North”, it is said by some to be the most beautiful in Europe. It is built partly on the mainland and partly on 14 islands on Lake Malaren and the Baltic Sea. You will be welcomed by your tour director who will transfer you to your hotel. Enjoy the balance of your day at leisure to stroll through this city laced with hundreds of canals and bridges. Dinner and accommodations are at the hotel.

September 05 – Stockholm (B) Today enjoy a city sightseeing tour of Stockholm including the magnificent City Hall, the most famous landmark of Stockholm with its Blue Hall and Golden Chamber clad with over 18 million mosaic stones. Stop at the Royal Palace, then visit Storkyrkan, the Cathedral mirrored in the water of the cobble stoned Old Town section or “Gamla Stan”. This section of town is filled with antique shops and a Bohemian spirit. See Riddarholm Church, where the Swedish kings are buried. The afternoon is at your leisure for further discovery of the city. September 06 – Stockholm - Copenhagen (train) (B&D) Transfer by private coach to the train station where you board the train from Stockholm to Copenhagen (1st class – duration approx. 5 hours). Relax on board the train while enjoying the beautiful scenery of forests and lakes. You arrive in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, the oldest kingdom in the world. You will be transferred by private coach to your hotel. Dinner and accommodations are at the hotel.

September 07 – Copenhagen (B) The impressive highlights of today’s sightseeing include the dragon-spired Stock Exchange, the canal district, and the Amalieborg Palace, home of the Danish monarchy, where you may witness the changing of the guard. Stop at Christianborg Palace, center of Parliament, then visit the endearing Little Mermaid, the statue inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s lovely fairy tale. Afternoon is free at your leisure to stroll through Nyhavn, the old sailors’ district where only ships 100 years-old or more can dock. The area is teeming with boutiques, jazz clubs and coffeehouses. In the evening, visit the Tivoli Gardens amusement park with its beautiful scenery and exotic architecture, historic buildings and lush gardens. At night, thousands of colored lights create a fairy tale atmosphere that is completely unique. September 08 – Copenhagen - Oslo (ferry) (B&D) Transfer by private coach and embark on a sightseeing cruise on the canals of Copenhagen of approx. 1 hour. The rest of the morning is at leisure for shopping and to stroll back to your hotel through the city center of Copenhagen. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the Danish capital with its charming buildings and narrow streets. In the afternoon you will be transferred by private coach from your hotel to the pier to board DFDS Seaways ferry for an overnight cruise to Oslo. Scandinavian buffet dinner and accommodation in 2-berth outside cabins with shower/WC are provided onboard. September 09 – Oslo (B&D) Breakfast on board before you disembark in Oslo, capital of Norway. Discover Oslo during a city sightseeing tour. Enjoy this lovely city with its colorful harbor, wide avenues and boulevards, parks and art galleries. Visit the Viking Ship Museum, the Fram Museum, and the Frogner Parc with the Vigeland sculptures. The afternoon is at leisure for you to further discover the Norwegian capital. Dinner and accommodation are included. September 10 – Oslo (B) Transfer by private coach to the pier at Aker Brygge. Depart for a 2-hour Oslo fjord sightseeing cruise, passing the Aker Brygge waterfront with the amazing Astrup Fearnley museum and Bjorvika waterfront with the spectacular Oslo Opera House. Pass through narrow inlets, idyllic bays and a maze of islands with picturesque summer houses. The afternoon is at your leisure.

September 11 – Oslo - Flåm (155 miles) (B&D) Depart by private coach and drive up the Hallingdal valley, then continue along the panoramic route across the Hemsedal Mountains to Borgund, where a photo stop is recommended at the famous Borgund Stave Church (entrance not included). Continue to Aurland and Flåm, beautifully situated by the Sognefjord. Dinner included. September 12 – Flåm (B&D) Enjoy a roundtrip excursion on the famous Flåm railway. Flåmsbana is a spectacular train journey that offers a panoramic view of some of the wildest and most magnificent nature in the Norwegian fjord landscape. This is one of the steepest train lines in the world on normal tracks, where almost 80% of the journey has a gradient of 5.5%. The afternoon is at your leisure to relax and enjoy your time by the fjord in the village of Flåm. We suggest a visit to the Flåm Railway & Documentation Centre, for insight on the building, history and technological development of the Flåm Railway (free entrance). Dinner is included this evening. September 13 – Flåm - Sognafjord - Bergen (B) Enjoy a 2 ½ hour mini cruise on the Sogne- and Nærøyfjord from Flåm to Gudvangen. The Nærøyfjord is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and is the narrowest fjord in the world at only 820 feet at its narrowest point. Precipitous mountains, thunderous waterfalls and small homesteads that cling to the mountain sides are the framework of the boat tour between Flåm and Gudvangen. From Gudvangen, continue by private coach via Voss and Dale to Bergen, the “capital of the fjords”. September 14 – Bergen (B&D) After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a 3-hour sightseeing tour of Bergen by private coach with a local guide, including the UNESCO listed Bryggen Hanseatic Wharf and the Fish Market, as well as a panoramic tour. The afternoon is at your leisure. During the evening, walk to the departure point of the Fløibanen funicular and enjoy an excursion up to Mount Fløyen. The journey up to Fløyen (320 m above sea level) takes 5-8 minutes. The journey is an experience in itself, and at the top, given fair weather; you can enjoy fantastic views over Bergen. Farewell dinner at Fløien Folkerestaurant. Return to the city center via funicular and transfer by private coach back to your hotel. September 15 – Bergen - Chicago (B) Breakfast is at the hotel. Transfer by private coach to Bergen Airport where you board your flight to Copenhagen where you connect to Chicago. Return to Peoria via private motor coach.
