“Teach your children they’re unique. That way, they won’t feel pressured to be like everybody else.”

Cindy Cashman

As we wait at the yellow gate to welcome the children every day we can’t help but marvel at how

unique each child is! From the way they talk to the way they walk; each little one possesses

distinctive qualities that help enrich lives around them. For us as caregivers nothing brings us more

joy than joining hands with you parents, to identify and nurture each child so that their uniqueness

shines through.

World Literacy Day Celebrations

This year on World Literacy Day the children sat in the audience while the teachers did the catwalk for them dressed up as their favorite character. The leaners thoroughly enjoyed the show and could not stop applauding and encouraging the teachers. Apart from this, the learners got an opportunity to dress up and talk about their favorite characters too. A discussion on the importance on reading was also one of the highlights of the day. The inputs that we received from the little ones was really enriching!

World Peace Day

Today where there is so much discord in the world it is important to plant the seeds of love and peace in the hearts of the little ones who will eventually contribute to making the world a better place! We celebrated “World Peace Day” with a discussion about the word “peace” and what it meant to the learners. Parents and guardians were also given an opportunity to write their interpretation of this word on post its and place it on a white board located in the foyer. Symbols of peace made by our creative learners were displayed at the entrance. After the discussion the children also posed for pictures along with the teachers, with the beautiful display behind them.

Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations

Ganesh Chaturthi is a ten day festival that falls in the month of August or September. During this festival clay idols of Ganesha are installed in homes and public places. In Maharashtra this festival is celebrated with great fervor. To give our learners a glimpse of this festival we conducted different activities depending on their age groups. A few of them created beautiful Ganesh idols using play dough, while the others made lovely decorations. Their work was displayed for all to see and everyone appreciated their creativity and hard work. The teachers also spoke to the little ones about the significance of this festival while a few of the learners also contributed to the discussion. It was a great learning experience for everyone.

Grandparents Day Celebrations

"Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children." — Alex Haley

This month a few grandparents visited the center to spend some quality time with their grandchildren and their friends. Others who could not visit the school spoke to them on Skype. Our adorable learners performed for their grandparents and even made beautiful keepsakes for them. We would like to thank all the grandparents for being so wonderful and supportive!

Learning about Christmas Traditions

This month our Prep 2 learners visited Maxima’s house to understand the traditions associated with Christmas. They were greeted by Ms. Alexandra and her family who had made all the necessary arrangements for our adorable learners. Games, yummy food, surprise gifts, a Christmas story and a Christmas Carol sung by Maxima; it indeed was a memorable day. We would like to thank Mr. and Ms. Gerendas for welcoming the little ones to their lovely abode! A special mention for Ms. Pragati for taking time out from her busy schedule to be with them too.

Celebrating Korean Thanksgiving

We believe that it is important to give children an idea about different cultures and we are blessed to

have a parent community that help us in this venture!

This month we would like to thank Ms. Choi for taking out time to visit the school and share

information about Korean Thanksgiving – “Chuseok” with the Prep 2 learners. During her visit she

came dressed in a “Hanbok” along with Hyewon and performed the “Ganggangsullae” along with our

Prep 2 learners. The learners also played “Jegi” with their friends and relished the Korean delicacy -

“Songpyeon.” The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and learnt so much from her visit.

Teachers Day Celebrations

The entire team received a pleasant surprise from the children and the parents this teacher’s day. The Prep 2 learners sang for us and the parent representative from each class gave each member of the team a very thoughtful gift. We would like to thank all the parents for their constant love and support!

Through this newsletter I have tried to give you a glimpse of a few activities conducted at the center

this month, though I am happy to say that we are also covering design thinking, the Leadership

Curriculum and will be taking children through the concepts covered in “Tikkun Olam” – which is a

Jewish concept based on acts of kindness which are performed to heal the world, in the next few

months.

I hope the month of October brings lots of happiness and blessings your way!

Warm Regards,

Rachna
