OVERVIEW / TIMELINE
START AT 221B BAKER STREET
A CURSED VISITOR
Holmes is at home impressing Watson with an elaborate experiment, when they are
visited by SIR SYNDEY HASKELL a venerable member of the Empire and owner of
HASKELL IRON MILL that casts royal, government and military statue commissions for
London.
Haskell commissions Holmes on a mysterious but troubling case and says HE HAS
BEEN CURSED and shows a GOLD COIN INLAID WITH AN OPAL GEM, which he found
on his office desk THIS MORNING, which he gives to Holmes. Haskell even offers to
cast a statue of Holmes if he can solve the case!
ARCHIVE GAMEPLAY
ARCHIVE: Sydney Haskell is the owner of HASKELL IRON MILL, member of the Royal
Geographical Society/or relative organisation (more research required).
Haskell was a member of various SPONSORED EXPEDITIONS for the HISTORY MUSEUM
during 1875 to 1885 before he was promoted to an Expedition Team Leader. Haskell
was knighted in 1895.
Haskell leaves 221B.
THE OPAL GEM
LAB: Holmes uses his laboratory to examine the gold coin with inlayed Opal gem,
which reveals intricate HIEROGLYPHS on the edge.
LESTRADE
LESTRADE arrives at 221B regarding a fresh case that requires Holmes’s exacting
assistance at once at the X BOWLS GREEN.

ARRIVE AT THE BOWLS GREEN
• INSPECTOR LESTRADE is present and says he will transfer the body to the Yard once
Holmes is finished.
THE CRIME SCENE
Holmes sees that an IRON STATUE of a MAN on HORSEBACK has collapsed onto a
person, DOCTOR OSWALD DAVIES, piercing him through the heart and impaling him
face-down to the bowls green!
THE STATUE
The statue depicts the legendary SIR GARNET WOLSLEY (the greatest soldier of the
Victorian era) riding his HORSE with his sword aloft, a striking pose for his various 1882
Egyptian War inspired statues.
The STATUE bares the brand of HASKELL IRON MILL LONDON.
THE GREENKEEPER
The BOWLS GREENKEEPER is BILL GORHAM, who was horrified to discover the body
this morning. Bill Gorham is a short thin middle-aged man.
BILL GORHAM STATEMENT: Doctor Davis was a lovely guy who played bowls here
often when relaxing from his stressful work at STONE HOUSE MENTAL ASYLUM.
THE BODY (SOME ELEMENTS COULD BE SCOTLAND YARD)
Holmes and Watson examine the body/statue to reveal a series of curiosities:
o The Doctor is skewered face-down on the Bowls Green.
o The toppling of such a vast and heavy statue seems unfathomable.
o TRIGONOMETRY (requires Holmes and Watson to use string and stakes to
calculate on the grass) measures the angle of the statues fall and the positioning
of the Doctor’s body in order to be skewered so precisely was an
ASTRONOMICAL CHANCE.
o Appears to be a single sword thrust through the heart/chest.
o The plinth seems undamaged. The reason for its movement seems inexplicable.

“SHERLOCK HOLMES THE DEVIL’S DAUGHTER – IRON BOBBY CASE” BY LUKE OPENSHAW
4
o The front legs of the horse are broken, suggesting the unbalanced weight caused
it to topple forward onto the Doctor. Perhaps a flaw in the design or casting
process?
TIME OF DEATH: Watson’s examination approximates the TIME OF DEATH to be
around midnight.
What are the chances of the Doctor standing exactly where he was and at this time of
night?
The Doctor’s FIST IS CLENCHED (rigor-mortis suggests Watson).
BUTTON
Holmes finds a DISTINCT CLOTHING BUTTON in the BOWLS GREEN GULLY.
ARRIVE AT SCOTLAND YARD
THE MORGUE – DOCTOR DAVIES AUTOPSY
GAMEPLAY: Holmes performs the autopsy on Doctor Davies’s body and must FORCE
OPEN THE CLENCHED FIST to reveal that it is grasping a RUBY, which Holmes deduces
was a LURE placed precisely where the target/victim would stand/examine before the
fatal blow was struck.
Discolouration/bruising of the lips shows that something has been placed/forced into
Davies’s mouth. Using tongs to open the mouth and forceps to reach in, Holmes
plucks out a strange PIECE OF FLESH?! How very macabre and strange, says Watson.
Perhaps Davies bit off part of his tongue during the struggle? Holmes says he must
study the piece of flesh and Ruby at his LABORATORY.
ARRIVE AT 221B BAKER STREET
DOCTOR OSWALD DAVIES
ARCHIVES: Doctor Oswald Davies is a WEALTHY DOCTOR who earned his wealth and
authority after collaborating on a series of expeditions for the Royal Geographical
Society (RGS), which saw him travel to various regions of the world.
Davies specialities were medicine, psychiatry and the history and the application of
such in cultures.
Doctor Davies operated as Warden/Doctor of the LONDON STONE HOUSE ASYLUM.

THE RUBY
LABORATORY: Holmes examines the GOLD COIN inlayed with a RUBY and finds
HIEROGLYPHS on the edge of the coin of this exquisite piece.
THE STATUE
ARCHIVE: Holmes studies the significance of the horseman statue that collapsed on
Davies and finds XYZ (information to be determined), although it DID HAVE A HASKELL
IRON MILL STAMP.
THE PIECE OF FLESH
Holmes examines the piece of flesh found in Davies’s mouth under his microscope and
uses chemicals to analyse it – and discovers it is AN UNSPECIFIED ANIMAL FLESH, BUT
DOES NOT BELONG TO DAVIES.
How disgusting, someone placed a piece of animal flesh in Davies’s mouth?! Probably
post-mortem.
THE BUTTON
Holmes examines the button and finds it to be expensive and ornate.
OPTIONS: INVESTIGATE STONE HOUSE ASYLUM OR HASKELL IRON MILL?
ARRIVE AT STONE HOUSE ASYLUM
PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE
Holmes visits the Asylum where Doctor Davies worked/managed, and speaks with a
NURSE about the late DOCTOR DAVIES. “Poor Doctor Davies, what a great and kind
man” is the general response.
Outside Doctor Davies Office are flowers and cards paying respects to his death.

DOCTOR DAVIES’S OFFICE
Holmes accesses Davies office and searches to find medical files, various photos and
certificates.
MAGNIFYING GLASS: Holmes notices that SOMEONE HAS TRIED TO FORCE THE SAFE.
HOLMES SAFE CRACKS: Inside amidst other things he finds a PHOTO OF DAVIES
HORSE-RIDING WITH ANOTHER ‘UNKNOWN’ MAN. On the back of the photo is a note:
WOLSLEY BOWLS GREEN, MIDDNIGHT.
ARRIVE AT 221B BAKER STREET
MAN IN THE PHOTO WITH DAVIES
MAGNIFYING GLASS: Holmes examines the HORSEBACK PHOTO featuring DAVIES and
the UNKNOWN MAN and spots a DISTINCT LAPEL BADGE on the UNKNOWN MAN’S
JACKET.
ARCHIVES: Holmes then uses his archives to match the type of BADGE to an
INSTITUTION and finds that it is the HISTORY & ANTHROPOLOGY MUSEUM (a
SPECIALIST REPOSITORY/overspill) of the LONDON BRITISH MUSEUM, and that the
man is in fact the CURATOR, PROFESSOR WARREN SNELL.
ARRIVE AT HISTORY MUSEUM
ABOUT THE MUSEUM
The museum is reasonably small and specialises in historical artefacts from the
Egyptian regions (surely no coincidence), and is in fact a SPECIALIST REPOSITORY of
the LONDON BRITISH MUSEUM.
MEETING PROFESSOR WARREN SNELL
Holmes speaks with WARREN SNELL, the CURATING PROFESSOR whose specialty is
Egyptian archaeology. (His lapel badge is of the museum).
Snell says he is sorry to hear about the unfortunate death of Doctor Davies, who was
once a good friend, but Davies personality was somewhat polarising, and we did not
speak in the last ten years!

7
Holmes asks that “if they were not friends then why would Doctor Davies keep a
PHOTO OF HE AND SNELL HORSERIDING in his safe?”
Snell says he doesn’t know or care, the past is the past.
SCAN SNELL: Holmes surreptitiously scans SNELLS clothing and sees that his JACKET
BUTTONS MATCH THE DISTINCT BUTTON FOUND AT THE BOWLS GREEN CRIME SCENE
and SNELL HAS SEWN AN ORNATE BUT ODD BUTTON IN PLACE OF A MISSING ONE.
Snell can’t recall when he lost the button.
THE RUBY
Holmes shows the OPAL/COIN (given to him by Haskell) and RUBY/COIN to Snell who
finds them exquisite and dates the pieces to the earliest Pharaohs, when he suggests
that he has such items in one of his collection EXHIBITS.
THE SUTEK EXHIBIT
Professor Snell shows Holmes to the specific EGYPTIAN EXHIBIT of “SUTEK” (a
Pharaoh-like Egyptian god) where a YOUNG 20 YEAR OLD ARTHUR is cleaning.
Holmes examines the Sutek statue to discover it has been breached. Professor Snell is
alarmed that 3 JEWEL-STONE COINS (just like those found by Holmes) HAVE BEEN
REMOVED/STOLEN. Snell turns his alarm into fury against Arthur who he blames for
his carelessness!
Snell states that the translation of the HIEROGLYPH ON THE EDGE OF THE SUTEK
EXHIBIT COIN-GEMS (of which Holmes has two), merely refer to elements, very
generic in Egyptian language.
Snell confirms that the THIRD MISSING COIN-GEM is an OBSIDIAN.
ARTHUR SNELL
HOLMES SCANS ARTHUR: Son of Professor Snell, is an ANTHROPOLOGY STUDENT at
the museum.
Speaking to Arthur suggests to Holmes that he is a kind and gentle soul under pressure
from his father to be interested in anthropology but is far more interested in
becoming a DETECTIVE OF A DIFFERENT SORT – JUST LIKE SHERLOCK HOLMES. Arthur
is in awe of meeting the great Sherlock.

ARRIVE AT 221B BAKER STREET
THE EGYPTIAN SUTEK EXHIBIT
ARCHIVES – SUTEK EXHIBIT: Holmes studies its history and discovers that the 3
MISSING GEMS are RED RUBY (recovered), and WHITE OPAL (missing) and OBSIDIAN
(missing).
But the exhibit was recovered during a British Empire funded expedition to Egypt in
1885 led by none other than SIR SYDNEY HASKELL (the very man who hired Holmes for
this case) and the expedition team which included DOCTOR OSWALD DAVIES and
PROFESSOR WARREN SNELL.
And of course Sydney Haskell runs HASKELL IRON MILL.
ARRIVE AT IRON MILL
THE HASKELL INC IRON MILL
The mill is small but professionally run and CASTS IRON STATUES for the city of
London. The store room contains many interesting iron sculpture castings of
HUMANOID HEROES, ANIMALS, BIBLICAL CREATURES and FEATURES. Many of the
statues are Royal, Government or Military commissions.
The intense molten heat/light casts a warm aura in the room and so at a glance the
host of figures look real and cast haunting shadows (perfect for some ATMOSPHERIC
TENSE GAMEPLAY LATER).
Holmes sees the prestigious HONOUR PLAQUE FROM THE QUEEN.
MEETING SYDNEY HASKELL AGAIN
Holmes meets HASKELLS ASSISTANT, a MUTE MUSCULAR MAN called “MERCER”
before meeting SIR SYDNEY HASKELL, the owner of the Iron Mill.
Haskell is distraught at the death of his friend Doctor Oswald Davies. Haskell seems
worried and says he was RIGHT ABOUT THE CURSE! It has put Haskell on edge and
forced him to hire a BODYGUARD (the mute MERCER who is ARMED).
Haskell gets ANGRY AT HOLMES for allowing his friend to die! As if Holmes had a
choice.

RELATIONSHIP WITH SNELL AND DAVIES?
Haskell says that there was a certain chilling of friendships between Snell and Davies
many years ago, a polarising difference of opinion.
Haskell does not speak with Professor Snell either because the man is an ALCOHOLIC
BULLY who oppresses his weak cowardly son, Arthur. The boy has no life but the
museum.
But Haskell and Davies maintained a friendship.
THE BOWLS GREEN STATUE
Haskell’s company CAST THE IRON HORSE STATUE (many years ago) THAT KILLED
DOCTOR DAVIES! It has no significance, apart from Davies frequented the bowls green
to relax.
Haskell says he is in the process of REPLACING THE DAMAGED BOWLS GREEN STATUE
with a NEW MILITARY COMMISSION and so must leave on business, but permits
Holmes to look around the mill but NOT HIS PRIVATE OFFICE.
PRIVATE
GAMEPLAY: And so Holmes moves around the mill, examining the layout, SMELT
MOULDS, molten iron vats, and the MAZE OF STATUES and tries to access HASKELLS
LOCKED OFFICE, but MERCER (the heavy) intervenes and says it is OUT OF BOUNDS.
So Holmes must now sneak about the maze of statues to deliberately lose Mercer and
then sneak back to the office and PICK THE LOCK.
HASKELL’S OFFICE
Haskell examines the PRIVATE FILES that reveal several STATUES and PARTS OF
STATUES have been STOLEN over the last YEAR from the mill. Sometimes it is
employees who steal.

MORE RESEARCH
ARCHIVES - NEWSPAPER: Holmes discovers that HASKELL WAS A MEMBER OF THE
HISTORY MUSEUM SPONSORED SUTEK EXPEDITION TO EGYPT IN 1885 (20 years ago),
along with PROFESSOR SNELL, DOCTOR DAVIES and a man called MALCOLM JONES (a
linguist and translator).
The expedition ended in the TRAGIC DEATH OF MALCOLM JONES and an EGYPTIAN
GUIDE when the TOMB THEY WERE EXCAVATING COLLAPSED during a LOCAL
UPRISING.
Many SUTEK TREASURES were retrieved for the EMPIRE and in turn the 3 SURVIVING
MEMBERS, HASKELL, SNELL AND DAVIES WERE RICHLY REWARDED. Holmes needs
information from the museum.
ARRIVE AT MUSEUM
EVASIVE SNELL
TIMING GAMEPLAY: Holmes speaks with Snell who is busy berating Arthur about the
damaged EGYPTIAN EXHBIT (moaning about dust and missing coin-gems) and
generally belittling the Arthur.
Snell leaves, grumpy as ever.
Holmes requests access to the MUSEUMS PRIVATE FILES so he can STUDY THE 1885
EGYPTIAN TRAGEDY, which seems to agitate Snell, who SAYS THE 1885 SUTEK FILES
WERE LOST DURING THE EXBITDETION. Snell declines access to the private files and
leaves.
HOLMES PERSUASION
Holmes approaches Arthur and persuades him to allow access to the PRIVATE FILE
ROOM even against his father’s wishes. Holmes can offer to TRADE A MISSING COIN-
STONE (that Holmes has in his possession) in return for the PRIVATE FILES KEY to make
Arthur appear competent.
Bottom line is that Arthur is an especially courteous and intelligent young man who
holds Holmes and Watson in esteem. Arthur says he WANTED TO BECOME A
POLICEMAN but dad said it was too menial! We get to like this young man who is
trying to escape his father’s imposing shadow.

MUSEUM PRIVATE FILES
• Holmes discovers PRIVATE DETAILS ON THE SUTEK EXPEDITION OF 1885 that a team of
4 ‘experts’ were commissioned by the HISTORY MUSEUM to explore, exhume and
bring back artefacts of interest for the Empire, from the Egyptian tomb of SUTEK.
• The team comprised of MALCOLM JONES (anthropologist), Sydney Haskell
(geologist/engineer), Professor Snell (history/archaeology) and Doctor Davies
(psychology/culture/chemistry) with their EGYPTIAN PORTORS and an EGYPTIAN
GUIDE, SALEEM MOHALED.
• After much tension, drama and hard work the dig reached the prized INNER CHAMBER
of SUTEK’S TOMB, which contained ARTEFACTS, including the SUTEK EXHIBIT (statue
with the missing GEM-COINS).
PHOTO OF SUTEK EXPERTS
Holmes finds a copy of the Sutek expedition photo with MALCOLM JONES, SYDNEY
HASKELL, WARREN SNELL, OSWALD DAVIES and various Porter’s and the GUIDE,
SALEEM MOHALED, posing.
THE OFFICIAL MUSEUM REPORT OF INCIDENT
Malcolm Jones and the Guide, Saleem, used his LANGUAGE SKILLS to deal with the
ANGRY LOCALS surrounding the Sutek Tomb dig, while Haskell, Snell and Davies
expedited the dig excavations.
The locals were getting restless and trying to sabotage the expedition which resulted
in Sutek’s tomb collapsing onto MALCOLM JONES and SALEEM, BURYING THEM ALIVE.
Horrific deaths.
Malcolm and the Guide were CLASSIFIED DEAD. A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT as result of
local aggression.
REWARDED SURVIVORS
Haskell, Snell and Davies returned to England and deliver much of their ARTEFACT
DISCOVERIES to the British Museum/HMS/RGS (or respected related society) who took
many of the artefacts but also DONATED the SUTEK EXHIBIT to the HISTORY MUSEUM.

Snell, Davies and Haskell received credit, promotions and reward for the ‘successful’
expedition. Each are honoured, rewarded financially and their reputations and
authority bloomed over the next 20 years, high status, fame, respect and Haskell was
even knighted.
Malcolm Jones his POSTHUMOUSLY HONOURED with a full CHRISTIAN BURIAL (he was
a religious man).
MALCOLM JONES’S WIDOW
Malcolm Jones’s widow, NANCY JONES, who was distraught at her then husband’s
death, was cared for by Sydney Haskell because Haskell and Malcolm.
ARRIVE AT 221B BAKER STREET
DEDUCTION
Holmes pieces together the case so far:
o Murder of DOCTOR OSWALD DAVIES on the BOWLS GREEN, killed by a STATUE
CAST BY HASKELL IRON MILL’S owned by SIR SYDNEY HASKELL who was part of
an EGYPTION ARCHAEOLOGY EXPEDITION 20 years ago to locate and retrieve
ARTEFACTS FROM THE TOMB OF SUTEK.
o The expedition also included MALCOLM JONES, a cultural/linguistics expert, who
was tragically killed during a local uprising, BURIED ALIVE IN THE TOMB.
o The 3 surviving friends had/have a tenuous relationship.
o The widowed Nancy Jones (wife of Malcolm Jones) was cared for by Sydney
Haskell.
o Finally, PROFESSOR WARREN SNELL of the HISTORY MUSEUM was a member of
the expedition and is now curator of the SUTEK EXHIBIT at his London Museum.
o 2 golden coins, inlayed with a Ruby and Opal respectively, have been found
during the investigation. The Ruby-Coin on Davies’s body and the Opal-Coin had
been mysteriously given to Haskell by someone.
o Holmes discovered that the Sutek statue exhibit at the History Museum had
been tampered with and 3 valuable Coin-Gems were missing.
o Professor Snell informed Holmes that the third unaccounted for coin-gem was
inlayed with an OBSIDIAN stone.
o Each coin has a hieroglyph engraved on the edge, which Professor Snell
translated as generic elemental words.

MRS NANCY JONES – MALCOLMS WIFE
ARCHIVES: Holmes discovers a NEWSPAPER ARTICLE on MALCOLM JONES’S WIFE,
NANCY JONES, being MENTALLY TRAUMATISED by her husband’s death and despite
Sydney Haskell’s care, she required ‘CONSIDERABLE MEDICAL HELP’, which was
provided by DOCTOR OSWALD DAVIES at the STONE HOUSE MENTAL ASYLUM. The
poor woman had a violent breakdown.
ARRIVE AT ASYLUM
NANCY JONES – PART 1
Holmes attends the Asylum and examines the PATIENT LIST to LOCATE NANCY JONES
(Cell 13A), Malcolm Jones’s wife and discovers that DOCTOR OSWALD DAVIES was
stated as Nancy’s case Doctor and the PATIENT APPLICATION was sign-off by SYDNEY
HASKELL.
Holmes locates Nancy’s cell/dorm to find her in a shabby patient overall and HEAVILY
DRUGGED (maybe even straight jacketed). The record says NANCY IS VIOLENT/CRAZY
MENTAL BREAK and under HEAVY MEDICATION. Holmes tries to ask Nancy questions
but she is too drugged to respond.
Time to question Haskell again.
ARRIVE AT IRON MILL
Holmes tries to meet Haskell at the Iron Mill but word is HASKELL is OVERSEEING THE
ERECTION OF THE REPLACEMENT STATUE AT THE BOWLS GREEN.
ARRIVE AT BOWLS GREEN – GETTING DARK
NEW STATUE
Holmes attends the Bowls Green to find Haskell overseeing the REMOVAL OF THE
BROKEN HORSE STATUE to PREPARE THE PLINTH FOR A FRESH STATUE, which is

QUESTIONS
Holmes discusses Nancy Jones with Haskell who says that after the sad death of her
husband Malcolm that she needed support and a shoulder to cry on, and so as
Malcolm’s life-long best friend I agreed to take her under my care and supervision.
Holmes asks Haskell why he applied to have Nancy Jones condemned to the Stone
House Asylum.
Haskell is very defensive of his ‘poor, poor Nancy, a beautiful but troubled women’,
who suffered a SEVERE MENTAL BREAK, but common in her family genealogy.
Doctor Davies agreed to take care of her and provide the best medication.
Haskell suggests that Professor Snell was responsible for her final break in her already
frail condition when he attempted to seduce the poor woman a few years after
Malcolm’s death. Typical Snell was drunk and very aggressive and abusive in his
language. This is what pushed poor Nancy over the edge and into a mental
breakdown.
“And that is also why Doctor Davies and I no longer associated with Professor Snell, his
drunken debauchery and ill manners.”
Haskell says he is busy with the statue erection and cannot answer any more
questions.
ARRIVE AT MUSEUM
MOVING SHADOWS
• Holmes arrives at the museum AT NIGHT and finds the place to be rather spooky with
the EXHIBITS TAKING ON A HORRIFIC MOOD in the dim light.
• The RAIN OUTSIDE is causing a RIPLING SHADOW EFFECT on the floor and walls of the
museum, so that Holmes cannot quite see illusion movement from real movement.
• Holmes can see FLICKERING TORCHLIGHT IN THE DARKNESS, when suddenly there is a
GUNSHOT.
• Holmes races towards the commotion, USING THE SHADOWS to stay out of sight as he
SEES PROFESSOR SNELL, DRINKING FROM A WHISKY FLASK and WILDLY SHOOTING AT
THE EXHIBIT STATUE OF SUTEK and screaming “I WILL NOT BE CURSED” and WEEPING.

SHADOW STALKER
• Holmes spots a FIGURE CREEPING IN THE SHADOWS and attacks for an EXCITING QTE
COMBAT but suddenly the SHADOW IS SHOT, SCREAMS, and falls into Holmes’s arms,
IN THE LIGHT, revealing ARTHUR SNELL (the Professor’s son)!
• Professor Snell rushes over to the commotion with the gun and sees that he has SHOT
ARTHUR, his own son. Professor Snell collapses to his knees and screams in hysterical
horror at what he has done.
SAVING ARTHUR
• GAMEPLAY: Holmes TRIES TO STEM THE BLOOD FLOW (can he be saved?) as a POOL
OF BLOOD FORMS AROUND the young man. Arthur says with his agonised breath that
he “MY FATHER LIED ABOUT THE TRANSLATIONS...” THEN ARTHUR DIES.
• Holmes’s hands are covered in blood. Snell is hysterical that he has killed his own son,
Arthur!
SNELL’S OFFICE
• GAMELAY: Snell puts gun to his head, considering SUICIDE, but Holmes can TALK
SNELL DOWN.
• Is there a chance of failure? SNELL IS ARRESTED BY LESTRADE.
ARRIVE AT SCOTLAND YARD
EXAMINE ARTHUR SNELL’S BODY
• GAMEPLAY: Examining Arthur’s body reveals that he was SHOT AT MEDIUM RANGE.
• Holmes sees discolouration in Arthur’s mouth so examines with FORSEPS and TONGS
to pull out a PIECE OF FOREIGN FLESH from his throat! How on earth did that get in
there?! Probably post-mortem.
• Holmes knows he must compare this piece of flesh with piece found earlier in Doctor
Davies’s throat!
• Holmes concludes that without a doubt these murders are linked and with a very
personal message.

PROFESSOR SNELLS POSSESSIONS
• Holmes moves into the EVIDENCE ROOM and examines Snell’s possessions amidst
which is a BEVERAGE FLASK (containing whisky), REVOLVER and THE JACKET WITH THE
DISTINCT BUTTONS.
• THE GUN: Holmes compares the BULLET CALIBRE TO THE GUN and they MATCH
(perhaps Watson is the one to verify this with his military knowledge).
• JACKET: Holmes examines the jacket further and discovers that ONE OF THE DISTINCT
BUTTONS IS IN FACT THE OBSIDIAN COIN-GEM from the Sutek exhibit statue! Holmes
is also sure (from memory) that the GOLD/OBSIDIAN button was not there when he
SCANNED PROFESSOR SNELL EARLIER! Someone has attached this button since.
GUILTY PROFESSOR SNELL?
GAMEPLAY – INTERROGATION: Holmes interrogates Snell who still has Arthur’s BLOOD
ON HIS HANDS. Snell is weeping and crying like a mad man in the jail cell, sobbing that
“I KILLED MY SON – THE STATUE CURSED ME AND MADE ME KILL MY SON, THE
SHADOWS WERE ALIVE, THE STATUE AND THE SHADOWS! CURSED! CURSED!”
Holmes questions Snell about the Obsidian Button, which Snell says is nonsense,
because he would know his own relics and why steal from his own collection!!!
The button found at the Bowls Green in the beginning places Professor Snell at both
murder locations. Plus Snell surely shot Arthur, was found with Arthur’s blood on his
hands, the revolver in hand.
Lestrade/Watson propose SNELL IS GUILTY and trying to DISGUISE MURDER AS AN
ACCIDENT.
When asked what drove him to alcohol, Snell says working with ruthless bastards like
Haskell and Davies! Someone had to put them in their place, I’m glad Haskell’s dead!
They killed my son!
Basically Haskell’s hysterical ravings sound like a madman and is left in the jail cell.
ARRIVE AT 221B BAKER STREET
LAB - ANALYSIS
• Holmes uses his lab to compare the two pieces of flesh extracted from the dead
bodies Davies and Arthur’s mouths. Analysing the flesh using his MICROSCOPE and
CHEMICALS confirms BOTH PIECES ARE LAMB, BUT DO NOT BELONG TO DOCTOR
DAVIES or ARTHUR SNELL.

ARRIVE AT HISTORY MUSEUM
Holmes returns to the museum to inspect the crime scene with Watson.
FOOTPRINT IN THE BLOOD
• White chalk outlines where Arthur’s dead body was and there is the POOL OF BLOOD.
• MAGNIFYING GLASS: Holmes sees an ANOMOLOUS FOOTPRINT BELONGING TO
ANOTHER PERSON.
• GAMEPLAY: Holmes measures/compares the FOOTPRINT SIZES with Arthur’s body and
SNELL’S SHOES IN HIS OFFICE to discover the BLOOD FOOTPRINTS ARE MUCH
SMALLER – ANOTHER SHADOW OPERATIVE?
OPERATING IN THE SHADOWS
GAMEPLAY: Holmes and Watson work together to find the position that the OTHER
SHADOW FIGURE was standing in when Arthur was killed and Snell was shooting
wildly. Their triangulation and tests of whether Holmes can be seen in the shadows at
certain positions by Watson, determine that the OTHER SHADOW FIGURE must have
been standing behind Holmes during the incident.
SHOOTING RE-ENACTMENT
• GAMEPLAY – IMAGINED RE-ENACTMENT: Holmes’s visualises Snell is in his dimly lit
office working on papers when he HEARS A NOISE IN THE MUSEUM. Snell explored the
museum with a TORCH, when he believes the SUTEK STATUE CAME ALIVE (surely the
other Shadow Figure because Arthur came past Holmes on the opposite side of the
museum).
• SNELL SHOOTS, hitting the SUTEK STATUE TWICE then hearing the commotion
between Holmes and Arthur, turns and SHOOTS ARTHUR in the shadows.
• The result of the re-enactment says Snell could be innocent.

LAB: ANALYSE THE COIN-GEMS
Holmes examines the third Coin-Gem (one of Professor Snell’s buttons), gold inlayed
with OBSIDIAN, with hieroglyphs on the edge.
3 different coin-gems: red ruby, black obsidian and white opal.
SELF-TRANSLATE: Holmes attempts his own translation of the Egyptian hieroglyphs
and to his shock discovers that each of the coins translates DIFFERENTLY TO WHAT
PROFESSOR SNELL SAID:
o Holmes translates: CONQUEST, WAR and FAMINE respectively.
ARCHIVE - BIBLE: Holmes studies the Bible Chapters on the FOUR HORSEMEN OF THE
APOCALYPSE and confirms that each Horseman rode a distinctly coloured horse,
WAR/RED/RUBY, FAMINE/BLACK/OBSIDIAN and CONQUEST/WHITE/OPAL.
All that is missing is the embodiment of DEATH and the PALE HORSE?
But why kill Arthur? Davies and Snell and Haskell were connected to Egypt, but not
Arthur?
Holmes compares the biblical references and discoveries with the 1885 Expedition
Photo featuring Haskell, Snell and Davies on horses discovers (but the PHOTO IS BLACK
AND WHITE).

• GAMEPLAY - CHEMISTRY: Watson must administer the CORRECT CONCOCTION OF
DRUGS to MAKE NANCY LUCID.
NAMING THE FOUR HORSEMEN
Holmes shows Nancy the 1885 EGYPT EXPEDITION PHOTO and she says that SHE
CALLED THEM THE FOUR HORSEMEN. Nancy says that greed caused one of them to
betray Malcolm in Egypt.
RELIGEOUS MAN
Nancy says that Malcolm was a man who had recently found God, and was
questioning his and the British Empires intrusions into the religions of others and
desecrating other countries cultures.
ABUSE
• QUESTIONING: When Nancy received the tragic news of Malcolm’s death, she was
WIDOWED, but the ever charming SYDNEY HASKELL provided a sympathetic ear.
• Nancy sobs and tells Holmes that Haskell was JEALOUS OF MALCOLM, and when she
turned down multiple romantic approaches by Haskell she believes Haskell had her
condemned to this Mental Asylum to silence her and punish her. No one turns him

• Nancy says that MALCOLM AND HASKELL USED TO PLAY BOWLS ON THE GREEN

was then Davies who introduced them t PROFESSOR SNELL. The 4 ‘friends’ played one
final bowls match in celebration before traveling to Egypt in 1885.
THE FOREIGN VISITOR
GAMEPLAY – HOLMES PENCIL SKETCHES DESCRIPTION: Nancy says that SINCE
DOCTOR DAVIES ‘WENT AWAY’ she has been visited by ANOTHER DOCTOR who she
describes: dark skin, short, very thin, male, pocked face, dark eyes, calling himself
DOCTOR SUTEK.
Holmes recognises this description as the BOWLS GREENKEEPER, aka BILL GORHAM!
GAMEPLAY – DETRMINE WHO NANCY IS DESCRIBING: Holmes shows Nancy the
PHOTO FROM THE 1885 EGYPTIAN EXPEDITION and she points out the GUIDE, SALEEM
MOHALED as DOCTOR SUTEK (not Malcolm Jones as expected!). Saleem was also
buried alive with Malcolm Jones in the tomb of Sutek.
Just then MERCER (Haskell’s heavy) interrupts and ends the conversation.
Holmes is BANNED FROM THE ASYLUM by officials.

THE SEWER MAP
ARCHIVES: Holmes’s studies the BOWLS GREEN LOCATION AND HISTORY, which
unearths information on a sewer map schematic that shows a MANHOLE COVER
directly where the statue had been erected. What a strange place to put a statue?
The archive provides Holmes with mathematical measurements of where the manhole
should be. Holmes now has a great deal of suspicious factors to consider and before
he focusses attention on the now prime suspect Sydney Haskell, Holmes wants to
examine the Bowls Green once again.

• Holmes and Watson arrives to see that Haskell’s team have REPLACEMED THE STATUE
of a BLACK IRON SOLDIER (with a BAYONET RIFLE, under construction) on the plinth
where the horseman once was. There is a CORDON AROUND THE PLINTH.
• OPTION: HOLMES USES TOBY TO SNIFF OUT A SCENT TO DISCOVER THE SECRET
MANHOLE or HOLMES USES MEASUREMENTS AND SEWER MAP SCHEMATIC to
pinpoint a MANHOLE COVER beneath the statue plinth.
• Beneath the plinth is indeed a DISGUISED MANHOLE COVER very precisely
camouflaged into the stone/metal plinth (imagine the statue was place on this
seamless/hidden plinth/manhole cover).
• Holmes suspects the statue was placed here strategically by someone, but who?
• Holmes and Watson work together with a POLE AS LEVERAGE (gameplay for Holmes
and Watson to work together) to pry up the manhole cover and climb down the shaft.
• WATSON STAYS TOPSIDE ON THE BOWLS GREEN.
THE HIDDEN WORKSHOP
Holmes reaches the bottom of the manhole to find a SMALL WORKSHOP and VARIOUS
ITEMS such as tools, food, clothes and more. Someone lives and operates here.
Chalked on the walls are the faces of moody statues (STOLEN FROM THE IRON MILL), a
throwback memory to the horror of Egypt.
THE NAME ON THE BOWLS TOMB
In the corner of the workshop is a resting place, bed, privates, and a MAKESHIFT
SHRINE with A PHOTO OF MALCOLM JONES CENTRAL (a photo and candles), with a
CHRISTIAN HOLY CROSS hung upon it.
THE IRON SUIT
The statue casting plates stolen from the Iron Mill are stashed here and metal has
been shaped into various shapes. This place was/is the secret base of operations of
the murderer.
Holmes finds architectural pen patterns indented on some paper fragments and using
a forensic technique (or even the classic pencil on paper method) Holmes reveals a
DESIGN SCHEMATIC for a SUIT OF IRON (perhaps copper due to the weight), painted
black, to be WORN BY A MAN. Ingenious.

STATUES
Holmes uses his MAGNIFYING GLASS on various statue parts to see that they have the
HASKELL IRON MILL BRAND. Stolen or traded?
THE MECHANISM
Holmes sees an incomplete MECHANISM which he assembles using available but
scattered COGS, LEVERS and CABLE to activate the mechanism which puts upwards
pressure on the underside of the statue plinth above and which tilts it to topple the
statue.
THE PASSAGE
Holmes follows a short passageway that emerges inside the FLOWER/TOOL SHED
beside the bowls green (SECRET HATCH) which Holmes opens and rises from. BILL
GORHAM is now a prime suspect and is either SALEEM MOHALED or MALCOLM JONES
incognito.
THE BOWLS GREEN AT MIDNIGHT, FULL MOON, RAIN
• On the bowls green finds WATSON UNCONSCIOUS BESIDE THE STATUE PLINTH.
• QTE GAMEPLAY: Suddenly the NEW SOLDIER STATUE COMES ALIVE (a living statue)
behind Holmes and attacks him because Holmes is getting to close. QTE
combat/dodging the RIFLE FIXED WITH A BAYONET.
• After an intense QTE action sequence, the SHADOW FIGURE STATUE overpowers
Holmes and puts him on his back on the bowls green and LOOMS OVER HIM
(atmospheric moment, rain streaming down, lightning in the background, thunder).
The scary black statue is only in silhouette as it hovers over Holmes, the bayonet rifle
at his throat. Lightning highlights the statues black metal human form.
WATSON TO THE RESCUE
• Suddenly Watson regains consciousness and opens fire on the living statue, but the
bullets ricochet off the statue with a METALIC CLINK (armoured?).

POLICE RANSACK THE BOWLS GREEN
Lestrade is present with Watson and Holmes. Watson has a bandaged head, Holmes
has bruises. Lestrade is incensed and says that the Bowls Green and Workshop is being
torn apart by his police force for every scrap of evidence and clue.
Lestrade informs Holmes that PROFESSOR SNELL HAS BEEN TRANSFERRED TO STONE
HOUSE ASYLUM after trying to take his own life in the Yard cell.
HOLMES VISUALLY RE-ENACTS EGYPT
THIS IS A POSSIBLE TRUTH (Holmes could get it wrong).
GAMEPLAY: AN EGYPT VISTA FADES IN (imagine the Star Trek holodeck, which is
Holmes’s imagination). Holmes re-enacts the EGYPTIAN DIG AT THE SUTEK TOMB,
then locals attacked, HASKELL, SNELL AND DAVIES ESCAPE WITH TREASURES, before
the TOMB CAVES-IN, burying MALCOLM JONES and the GUIDE, SALEEM MOHALED
ALIVE.
Holmes recreates in his mind: ENTOMBED IN NEAR DARKNESS FOR WEEKS MALCOLM
JONES had a few LANTERNS/TORCHES, some FOOD AND WATER, COPY OF THE BIBLE
TO READ and the DEAD BODY of SALEEM THE GUIDE.
Trapped inside the tomb for many weeks, Malcolm rationed his own food and water
and the torches, to survive on will alone. But the TORCHLIGHT FADES and soon he is
trapped in darkness haunted by noises of the tomb, scurrying creatures, beetles and
other nightmares.
MALCOLM CANNIBALISED SALEEM TO SURVIVE (hence the Lamb flesh in the bodies –
the Lamb was the divine Jesus), which combines to make Malcolm GO INSANE with
rage and vengeance, feeling BETRAYED BY HIS FRIENDS.
Malcolm used his horrific experience to exact a divine revenge and justice on the 3
other ‘Horsemen’, Snell, Haskell and Davies.
DEDUCTION OF THE MURDERS
Holmes deduces the state of affairs and truth of the 1885 Egyptian Expedition:
After recovering from the experience of being buried alive, plotting his revenge and
returning to England to form a cover story/job took 20 years! (This element rightly
creates suspicion of the deduction – why would Malcolm take 20 years to return?)

Malcolm lured the victims to the TARGET LOCATIONS with the COLOURED EGYPTIAN
COIN-GEMS (stolen from the Sutek Exhibit) and WHISPERS OF THE CURSE then
kills/traumatises them (Haskell, Snell and Davies) with the STATUE ASPECTS to strike
divine fear in them as per Malcolm’s suffering).
THE PLAN
GAMEPLAY: Holmes must instruct who of Watson and Lestrade (player chooses) must
OVERSEE the MUSEUM and the ASYLUM while HOLMES TAKES THE IRON MILL ready
for the killers attempt to strike the final target - HASKELL. Holmes heads to the Iron
Mill.
ARRIVE AT IRON MILL
EVIL HASKELL CONFESSION
• INTERROGATE: Holmes reaches Haskell and interrogates/persuades him to confess
about Malcolm Jones in Egypt, Sutek’s tomb in 1885?
• Haskell confesses that he, Snell and Davies wanted to retrieve the treasures as per the
Museum Sponsorship Deal but Malcolm refused to follow the agreement, trying to be
so damned benevolent and protect the local culture and integrity.
• So when Haskell, Snell and Davies did steal considerable artefacts from the locals
attacked and caused the cave in which entombed Malcolm and the Guide, Saleem.
• Haskell believes he/they DID NOT BETRAY MALCOLM, before they fled the country
with the treasures and they did not kill Malcolm or Saleem!
• Holmes states that Haskell was jealous of the relationship/love between Nancy and
Malcolm, and so tried to become her trusted sympathetic confidante after Malcolm’s
“death”. But Haskell tried to seduce Nancy and failed! Haskell’s ego would not allow
such a woman to spurn him so sent the innocent woman deliberately to the Stone
House Asylum! Haskell denies this and says she was ill!
THE IRON MAN ATTACKS
• An IRON SUITED person, painted black, attacks the Iron Mill wielding REVOLVERS (built
in the Bowls Green secret workshop).
• Mercer shoots at the armoured man but the bullets ricochet off the armour before
MERCER IS KILLED.

• GAMEPLAY: Holmes with Haskell must run, evade and BARRICADE/BOLT DOORS
behind them as the Iron Man pursues with GUNS BLAZING.
STATUE CHAMBER
• QTE/SUSPENSE GAMEPLAY: Holmes leads the pursuit to the CHAMBER OF
STATUES/FIGURES (kind of like Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon with the mirrors) where
Holmes and Haskell SET A TRAP to catch the Iron Man in the SMELT.
SMELT CHAMBER – TRAP
GAMEPLAY: Holmes must protect Haskell while SETTING A TRAP for the Iron Man
using various ITEMS and MECHANISMS in the smelt chamber.
Holmes must ACTIVATE THE TRAP AT THE RIGHT MOMENT to SUCCESSFULLY TRAP
THE IRON MAN IN THE SMELT MOULD, right where Holmes wants him for questioning.
But BITTER HASKELL ACTIVATES THE SMELT CONTROLS to begin lowering the mould
into the MOLTEN IRON. Haskell is cackling like a man possessed.
HOLMES’S CHOICE
CHOICE: Does Holmes want to stop this execution by intervening to STOP THE SMELT
or ALLOW THE EXECUTION if he is certain of the murderer’s guilt? Would he even
allow such an execution, no matter the evil of the criminal?
HOLMES INTERVENES
Holmes intervenes with Haskell’s sadistic execution and SWITCHES OFF THE SMELT,
preserving the trapped Iron Man, but infuriating HASKELL WHO TURNS HIS GUN on
Holmes and says Malcolm Jones must face true justice!
But who is the criminal here ASKS THE IRON MAN (speaking for the first time) and the
STRANGE VOICE – is it REALLY MALCOLM BEHIND THE MASK? Who else could it be?
FINAL DEDUCTION BOARD
There are several options for the final deduction so players can be wrong.

26
A gun in his face and with two/three possible criminals, Holmes must deduce who is
guilty and for what, and his life depends on it.
The evidence points to the fact that MALCOLM JONES could be the killer or even
SALEEM MOHALED (the Guide) or even BOTH MEN WORKING TOGETHER.
We also have Haskell’s guilt to consider – deliberately drugging and imprisoning a
woman in the Asylum against her will, TORTURED NANCY FOR 15 YEARS! Haskell’s
ruthless business manner and icy cold demeanour also suggests that he could have
even DELIBERATELY MURDERED MALCOLM AND/OR SALEEM IN EGYPT!
THE TRUTH?
Decide how we conclude/show this.
Holmes’s deduction reveals the IRON MAN TO BE SALEEM MOHALED, the EGYPTIAN
GUIDE and sympathetic friend of Malcolm Jones.
SALEEMS GUILT:
o The Iron Man is actually NOT MALCOLM JONES, but the GUIDE, SALEEM
MOHALED, who survived the caved-in tomb by using what little resources there
were and even CANNIBALISED MALCOLM JONES to survive.
o Saleem and Malcolm had become friends during the expedition.
o Saleem (possibly with Malcolm’s dying breath input) sought revenge on those
responsible for the MADNESS INDUCING BETRAYAL that saw him betrayed and
buried alive for weeks/months in Sutek’s tomb.
o Although an intelligent and resourceful man (knowing multiple languages and
educated) Saleem’s vengeance took 20 years because he was a foreigner and
had to learn so much more to come to England and exact his revenge.
o Saleem only visited Nancy Jones at the asylum to extract information from her
and deliver a LAST MESSAGE FROM her dying HUSBAND MALCOLM, “I love you
xxxxxx”.
o In the Four Horsemen scheme, Saleem was to be Death riding in on his Pale
Horse and Malcolm (who had died so that Saleem could survive to exact justice)
is the Lamb/Jesus.
HASKELL’S GUILT: HOLMES DEDUCES SYDNEY HASKELL IS GUILTY OF OTHER VILE CRIMES:
o Malcolm and the Guide, Saleem, got on very well and had an AGREEMENT WITH
THE EGYPTIAN LOCALS NOT TO RANSACK/STEAL EXCESSIVE ARTEFACTS FROM
SUTEKS TOMB. However, Haskell, Snell and Davies disagreed and instead STOLE

EXCESSIVE TREASURES, stating that the British Empire can claim what it wants
for HMS.
o After Malcolm’s death, back in England, Nancy was initially romanticised by the
‘sympathetic and powerful’ Sydney Haskell, who was envious towards Malcolm’s
extraordinary wife, Nancy, who he wanted and would do anything to get her!
o Nancy refused Haskell’s romantic advances, which made him angry enough to
deliberately condemn her to being a PATIENT AT DOCTOR DAVIES’S ASYLUM,
pumping her full of drugs to silence/punish her.
o Haskell deliberately caved in the Sutek Tomb to bury the meddling Malcolm
Jones (and murdered him) and Saleem. Greed and arrogance of EMPIRE!
o Did Snell and Davies know about the betrayal? If so, both have been punished.
OUTCOME
So now that Holmes has two dangerous criminals before him, but with different
motives and mentalities, he must decide what to do next – EXECUTE or ARREST or
TALK DOWN or SPARE.
EPILOGUE
Nancy Jones is the innocent living party who is freed from Stone House Asylum.
