PARISH NEWS
SALAD BAR LUNCHEON: SAVE THE DATE! This year’s salad bar luncheon will be Thursday, April 30, from 11 am
to 1 pm. Now is the time to start thinking about how to volunteer
and/or what salad you would like to make! Plan to help us make this
year’s luncheon a huge success! We will once again be back in our
own dining room. The chair this year is Rebecca Smith with assistance
from Florence Verworn. Rebecca will be calling those who helped last year to see if
they will assist this year. If you have questions or would like to help, please contact
Rebecca at (218) 790-7424 or email: [email protected].

All members of Christian Mothers Confraternity:
As mentioned at the recent (Feb. 9) special meeting, it is time to
nominate/elect a new slate of officers which will be done at the CM
Spring meeting (date to be decided).
According to the by-laws of the Confraternity, it is advised
to have or elect a president, a vice president, a secretary and a
treasurer.
Any current member who may be interested in being considered for one of the
positions, may do a “self-nomination” or have another member nominate you. If you
are aware that a member (other than yourself) would be an appropriate candidate, ask
that person if they would agree to have their name put forward for one of the positions.
Any interested member can contact Judy (Vanyo) Hoffman at (701) 361-8994.
You may also call the parish office to offer your name. (218) 233-4780. Thank you.
_______________
CAREGIVER NEEDED
There is a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales that needs someone to stay
with her over the weekends, so that she can continue to live in her home.
If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Dennis in the
Parish Office. (218) 233-4780. Thank you.
_______________
To all parishioners:
Are you looking for a way to give a little of your time to a parish
need? When there is a funeral AND a wake service the evening
before, there is always a need for folks to help. The women
who call for bars for both events, always get a wonderful
response. But, there is still a need for folks to make the coffee,
set out the bars and serve, plus clean up afterwards. All this
can be done BY THE MEN AS WELL AS THE WOMEN PARISHIONERS. Also, we would be
happy to see some of our confirmands who might be looking for service hours. They
should get in touch with Devan if they can help.
Keep in mind, if (when) a member of your family passes away, many of your
fellow parishioners will step up to be there for you and your family. Most working folks
cannot serve at the funeral (unless it is on a Saturday), but is it possible to be there the
evening before ?
If you think this is a way you can volunteer a little of your time, please contact
Judy (Vanyo) Hoffman at (701) 361-8994 OR Dennis at the parish office: (218) 233-
4780. You could also email Judy at: [email protected].

Moorhead Mental Health Support Group for Families
NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness)
sponsors free support groups for families and friends of
individuals living with a mental illness. Led by trained
facilitators who also have a family member with mental
illness, the support groups help families develop better
coping skills and find strength through sharing their
experiences. A family support group meets in Moorhead on the second Thursday of
each month, from 6:30 - 8 pm, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1900 14th St. S.
For information contact Denise at (218) 443-5286 or Ty at (701) 429-0796.
The The Locks Have
been Changed! The parish recently re-keyed the lock
for every door in the building. If you
need access to part of the church for
your ministry, please come to the
parish office and pick up a new key
from Dennis.
Help at Churches United
St. Francis de Sales prepares and
serves the evening meal at Churches
United on the 3rd Tuesday every other
month. They are in need of a few more
people to help out. The next
opportunity to help will be on Tuesday,
March 17. Please come to Churches
United by 4 pm.
_______________
In the event of a blizzard warning in Fargo-Moorhead, or when St. Joseph’s School is cancelled, the parish office will be closed and all activities cancelled, including daily morning Mass. Weekend Mass will ordinarily be celebrated for those who can safely make it to the church. If a “no travel advisory” is in effect parishioners should stay home.
Cancellations will be decided on a case-by-case basis in the event of less severe weather (such as a winter storm warning). In all cases of severe weather, closings and cancellations will be advertised on local TV and radio stations KVLY, KFGO, and WDAY, and on the parish website, www.stfrancismhd.org.
