Our valued customers,Ipek Feed Mill and Food Trade Co. is the Middle East’s largest feed mill since 1988 for producing high quality and affordab-le animal feed with young, dynamic and experienced staff in contributing Turkey’s and the world’s livestock industry. Ipek Feed Mill and Food Trade Co. is aimed to be a leading, growing and self-renewing company in neighboring markets. The production capacity of the company is 100 tons per hour with computer control system. The raw material and product controls are performed before and after the production with highly equipped and calibrated latest technology laboratory.Quality is never a coincidence. It is always reached with cons-cious efforts. We, Ipek Feed Mill and Food Trade Co., always proceeded with this consciousness. In this way, we awarded the Quality Management System Certificate by the Turkish Standards Institute suitable for TS-EN-ISO 9001:2008. We are happy and proud to share this document with you valuable customers. We act accordingly while offering our products th-rough our service network spread throughout all of the regions in Turkey.Maximizing the animal production conducted in extremely dif-ficult conditions in our country is also our first priority. We want
to offer you some practical information about the complicated part of the animal nutrition. Based on “OLD INFORMATION” for feeding practices may not result in positive responses. In ad-ditionto our products, feeding various raw materials from dif-ferent sources may decrease production and threaten animal health. Therefore, we should be very careful and should not use them unless they are necessary. Our products must be fed in right amounts and to right animals for maximum efficiency. In this web site, you will find alternative using protocols of all our products based on SCIENTIFIC CRITERIA. You will also find some brief information about nutrition related cattle diseases. When using our products, you can get technical support from our well-trained specialized regional sales managers as well as customer service department at the plant center.
We hope you have lucrative and efficient livestock production

Milk production
“Peak in Quality”
The high genetic potential should accompany with nutrition for cows producing more milk. In this case, the nutrition partitions around 65-70% of the share for increasing milk production. While there are many factors affecting superior milk yield performance, a regular dry period among those is more influential. This period starts 3 weeks prior to calving and continues until 3 weeks after calving. Thespecial feeding strategies between 40-50 days of this period closely effect rest of the lactation period. Therefore, what should we pay more attention in this period (dry period) for fee-ding cows?
1. The most important point in this period is to check the changes in body condition score. The body condition score must be betwe-en 3.0 to 3.5 for preventing possible metabolic disorders (hypo-calcemia, ketosis, udder edema), improving feed intake, milk yield and composition. Keep in mind that cow having more than these scores may possibly cause metabolic diseases.
2. The forage intake in this period should be 1% of cow’s body we-ight. Due to the risk of hypocalcemia, it is better to avoid feeding legumes (alfalfa, vetch) in this period. Instead of feeding these forage sources, it is better to prefer dry hays.
3. Switchingfrom dry cow feed to early lactation feed has to be gradually. As the parturition approaches (last 1 week), nutrient density of the ration needs to be increased.
4. Due to the risks of negative energy and protein balance during this transition period, high quality protein sources and energy rich feeds are needed.
5. In addition, some feed additives are beneficial for avoiding postpartum metabolic disorders. These feed additives are listed as vitamin E, B3 (niacin), yeast extract and anionic salts (magne-sium sulphate, ammonium chloride)
Early lactation feeding: The following nutritional points must be considered for expected maximum lactation performance within first 3-4 weeks of parturition.
1. As shown in the graph, the most critical problem after parturi-tion is the feed intake. It comes behind the milk yield and reaches the normal level after peak production point. Therefore, nutritio-nally condensed rations are need. For instance, energy rich corn silage and protein rich legumes are preferred.
2. Energy rich and easily digestible grains and their by-products are included in the rations.
3. The forage to concentrate ratios in TMR is 50%:50% level
4. Be cautious for potential body weight losses, it should not be more than 1 kg daily. In other words, loss in body condition score should be 1-1.5 at the maximum.
5. In this period, ration’s energy content should be increased; even 0.5 kg of dietary fat/cow/day should be supplemented.6. In case of rumen acidosis in this period due to heavy grain supplementation, dietary sodium bicarbonate can also be inclu-ded in the rations.
Mid-lactation feeding (40-120 days):A higher dry matter intake parallel with higher milk production reaches the peak level in 60-70 days of lactation. Then it slows down starting after 3 mont-hs of lactation and the cow starts to gain weight. Therefore, the following feeding guidelines need to be considered for lactation persistency.
1. Ration protein content should be 17-18%.2. There need to be minimum 50% forage in the ration and at least 50% of forage particle size has to be 3-4 cm.3. Dietary starch content should be 30% (grain rich rather than oil seed rich feeds)
Late lactation feeding (120-305 days):Since the milk production is reduced gradually in this period, the following feeding program should be followed.
1. Ration protein content should be 16%.2. Overfeeding is restricted and body condition score needs to be
under control (3.25-3.5).3. Instead of feeding high quality protein sources (soy-bean meal), use easily rumen digestible protein sour-ces (low quality oil seed meals)4. Forage portion should be 60%. Corn silage should be reduced (1/3 corn silage + 2/3 dry hay or totally dry hay)5. Dietary starch content should be 20%

The basic principle of beef cattle production is to ensure the most profitable feed efficiency from genetically strong and the fastest body weight-gaining animals. The highest economic growth performance is also ensured by feeding animals with correct amount and at the appropriate time. The ration balancing and feeding animals have important roles in beef cattle production. Based on the basic principle of feedlot performance, daily body weight gain and feed efficiency are the critical success in beef cattle production
FACTORS EFFECTING FEEDLOT PERFORMANCE
Animal’s genetic: Whilst the daily body weight gain in local breeds is around 1 kg, it could rise to 1.4-1.6 kg daily in superior genetic culture breeds. However, it is also possible to increase daily body weight gain over 1 kg in local breeds with good management practices.
Gender: Male breeds have greater feedlot performance than female breeds
Age: This the most important factor in beef cattle production. The selected animals for feedlotting should still be in growing stage. The beef cattle production should be performed up to 1.5 years of age in superior and 2.5-3 years of age in local breeds. The feedlotting period should not exceed beyond this.
Body condition: It is an indication of animal’s growth and feeding status. Calves having good skeletal system but remained weak due to poor calf care and nutrition during their early life show good feedlot performance.
Health status: Beef calves must be treated and vaccinated against parasitic diseases before bringing to feedlot.
FEEDING BEEF CATTLE
Beef cattle rations are prepared for maintenance and growth requirements. A beef cattle intakes 2.5% of his body as dry matter, such as 400 kg of beef cattle should consume 10 kg of dry matter intake. There must be a target for balancing
beef cattle rations based on body weight, daily body weight gain and finishing body weight. The energy requirement of beef cattle is based on age and body weight. The body weight change varies depending on the ration’s energy level. Young animals have higher amount of water and protein but lower amount of fat in their body. This change is against fat deposition as the finishing period approaches. During this period, the need for protein is decreasing and energy is increasing in diets.Chopped whole plant fresh corn and grass-legumes mixture as a forage can be fed to animals. These fresh forages can also be offered with other available forages, such as straw. The amount of straw offered varies with energy and type of other feeds in the ration. However, a well-known
practice is to place forage in front of the animals all the time. Dry or wet beet pulp offered to beef cattle is rich in energy. However, it is beneficial to offer beet pulp with straw due to its nature of low effective fiber. It is better to feed good quality silages for young beef cattle.Concentrate feeds (cracked grains+ oil-seed meals or formulized mixtures) should be offered at 50-60% in beginning, 60-70% in growing and 80% in finishing periods of feedlotting. In other words, 300 kg of beef cattle should eat 4-5 kg concentrate feed in the beginning of feedlot period. This amount for 400 and 500 kg body weights should be 6-7 kg in growing and 10 kg for finishing periods, respectively.

¬ In addition to IPEK HEIFER FEED, please avoid feeding additional cracked grains. This impairs heifer growth and causes over body conditioning¬ Although this situation seems to boost body growth, it precludes the mammary growth¬ So that, this causes anomalous subsequent lactation performance
Be aware of the following two criteria for maximum reproductive performances;
1. Age; Heifers should be 15 mo of age before using in breeding. If there are heat signs before younger ages, do not breed them due to their immature skeletal and mammary growths.
2. Body weight; Heifers should reach 70% of their mature body weights before being bred. This corresponds to 400 kg body weight.
This excellent feed is prepared for first calf heifers to get more milk yield in progressive lactation periods. It helps for
accelerated heifer growth and saves your time

Corn-Barley Flake Feed
1. Increases milk production2. Increases starch digestibility3. Increases milk protein4. Increases milk fat5. Increases the efficiency of feed energy6. Improves body weight gain7. Increases feed efficiency8. Prevents feed selection in the bunk9. Provides rapid growth in calves10. Prevents digestive disorders (diarrhea, off feed)11. Prevents feed mixing problems12. Improves feed taste13. Improves forage feeding efficiency14. Reduces acidosis risk15. Increases feed intake due to its flavor and smell16. Inhibits hazardous microorganisms through production technology
PROPERTIES OF FLAKED FEEDThe principle of flaking process is based on cooking and steaming of grains, such as barley, wheat and corn under high pressure and then dried by passing through the crushing machines. The process is performed for improving high rates of starch gelatinization and digestibility. With this process, starch molecule expands. This changes the structure of the starch digestibility of over 95%. Flaked feeds are more delicious and smelling pleasant compared to unprocessed cereals, which increase feed intake and therefore milk production.

Raw Material TradeIpek Feed Mill and Food Trade Co. also imports high quality raw materials from neighboring countries by road and overseas by ship either for its production needs or for other feed industry partners. In this context, the factory has 30,000-ton raw material storage capacity. In addition, they provide necessary port warehouses for storing imported raw materials and supply them to other feed factories. Ipek Feed Mill and Food Trade Co.’s “main purpose” for importing raw materials is to come into play when there is an absence or high price of standard raw materials for feed production. Ipek Feed is heading for the principle of high quality feed qhich is made of high quality raw material.
