Holy Hikers Special Event | August 13All Are Welcome!Holy Hikers is back! In honor of Fr. Jeremy, Faithful After Fifty is sponsoring a Holy Hikers experience. We will be meeting in the parking lot of Princess Ledges at 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 13. It could be buggy so bring bug spray. We'll hike for a while, re!ect on the readings for that weekend and enjoy each other's company.

Afterward, we'll get some ice cream and enjoy the sunset at Mapleside Farms. It sounds like a great evening. This event is open to every Saint Ambrose parishioner, no matter your age, all are welcome; bring your friends.

If you can, please RSVP ahead of time to Jim Rauschenbach at [email protected]. Please watch the bulletin for more outdoor fun from Faithful After Fifty!

Liturgy CornerThe Assumption of Mary

The Feast of the Assumption of Mary is celebrated each year on August 15. This year the Assumption falls on Saturday; whenever the Solemnity falls on a Saturday, the obligation to attend Mass is lifted. We will however, celebrate Mary’s Assumption at our 8:15 am daily Mass. You may also pray her Magni$cat (Luke 1:46–55) to honor her glory as she proclaims the greatness of the Lord and $nds joy in God her Savior.

Be The LightSign Up to Spread Sunshine

With so many things moving virtual or being postponed, we wanted to come up with a fun way to feel connected. Starting in September, we will be doing a monthly "Secret Sunshine" exchange, giving you the opportunity to "Be the Light" and brighten up someone's day. Similar to a Secret Santa, anyone who enters their name will be included into the Sunshine Exchange. You will be given the name and

address of someone else and you can simply drop something o& at their front door or mailbox. It can be something as simple as a special prayer card, a seasonal decoration, candles, slice of pie, bouquet of !owers you grew o vegetables from your garden. Anything that will be fun to share and brighten up another's day.

This is meant to be fun and something that anyone can participate in, so please don't feel like you have to spend money. A hand written card or a picture your children drew will be so appreciated! If you are interested, please email Natalie English at [email protected] by August 26.

3WEEKLY PARISH BULLETIN - August 9, 2020

…”At the mountain of God, Horeb, Elijah came to a cave where he took shelter. Then the LORD said to him, “Go outside and stand on the mountain before the LORD; the LORD will be

passing by.” Our $rst reading this weekend poses a soul-stirring re!ection for each of us. If God said to you, Go outside and stand on the mountain before the Lord and the Lord will pass by, would you go? The easy and obvious answer is ‘sure, yes, of course.’ The soul-stirring re!ection is that every day the Lord wants to ‘pass by’ and visit us and speak to us, are we making the time to go – to listen – to spend time with the Lord? The Word of God invites us and calls out to us – God wants to come to you today. Make some time for the Lord. How exciting that God wants to visit….come to you…speak to your heart!!!

…It’s great to welcome Father Andrew Hoover (goes by Father Andrew) to our parish community. He started to settle in on Tuesday. He’s eager to get involved and meet the wonderful members of Saint Ambrose. Please join me as we welcome him. And, as you have been hearing, we welcome our own Deacon Matt Harley home to our parish community as he starts his diaconal ministry.

…Speaking of the outdoors, Father Jeremy rekindled “Holy Hiking.” Deacon Matt is going to help continue the journey. It’s really pretty simply – you meet at a park – share a scripture – and then take a good hike together re!ecting on God’s Word. We are best when we journey together the path of the Lord. If you would like to receive Holy Hiking invitation emails, send an email to the Parish O*ce and simply write “Holy Hiking” (o*[email protected]).

…This past Sunday, I had the blessing and privilege of Baptizing, Con$rming and welcoming to the Table of the Lord a women in her early 60’s. She has been struggling with serious health issues and knew what she needed most was God in her life. What a joy and blessing. Please pray for her health and the deep peace that comes from knowing God is with her on the journey. She came to the Lord because of the invitation and encouragement of one of our members. Who is someone you know who needs God? Someone you know that should go

‘outside’ to meet the Lord? Invite them to join you for Mass and/or consider Journey to Emmaus (RCIA)? We all need God….sometimes we just need the gentle invitation to encourage us. For more information, please contact Caitlin at: [email protected].

…God bless you for the outpouring of love and goodness this past week. The Blood Drive was a blessing beyond words. They collected 44 pints of blood which will take care of 132 people. Additionally, the August Blood Drive is already FULL. With the need for blood extremely high, and with the great support of our Boy Scouts who o#er amazing hospitality and support, we have scheduled an additional blood drive for Wednesday, September 23 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Watch for all the details in coming weeks. God bless you for your goodness.

…Equally humbling was your support for Mercy Monday. I met up with Bob Downs driving into the line. We both just looked at the line and smiled and said, “these are really, really good people.” So many will receive the help and support they need because of your goodness. God bless you over and again. This will support the PB&J brigade, along with the families we care for in our local community. Thank you so much.

…Gail Eichman is helping to coordinate more of our service outreach e#orts. She is going to work with Lisa Homady and all of our service outreach ministries to put together a monthly eblast that highlights all the ways you can get involved (Community Outreach, Community Meal, Community Service Day, Shopping for Seniors, Project SNOW, etc). If you would like to receive that monthly email, simply send Gail your name ([email protected]). It’s an way to get involved… even just a little.

…God bless Janet Majka and her team. We have developed a great plan for PSR for the Fall. It’s going to be the best of all the good, right and safe worlds. Simply put, students will come together with the parents once a month by grade level for prayer, a good message, some age-appropriate discussion. We will then send two lessons home with the parents that they can work on with their child over the rest of the month. We need to keep $nding creative, safe, and meaningful ways to share our faith and bring all the children of God to the Lord. Watch for more details. It’s perfect for your children and grandchildren.

…Travis Jurgens is up and running and planning a beautiful Concert for Peace on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 7:00 pm. Watch for details. This inspiring celebration of music will be at the Grotto. Save the date.

…Next Saturday is the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. We celebrate Mary taking her rightful place with God in heaven. While it is a holy day, the obligation to attend is dispensed. We will celebrate the Assumption at the 8:15 am Mass. Please join us as we come together and pray that we may follow her example as we make our ‘yes’ to the Lord on the path to heaven.

…So many of you have appreciated the Saturday Masses at the Grotto. We will do another on August 15, 2020 at 6:30 pm. All are welcome. There’s plenty of room to spread out as we go ‘outside’ to meet the Lord.

…This Sunday is The FEST@Home from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm. As you have been hearing and reading, we are so blessed to have nine of the best Christian artists come together for a celebration of hope that comes to you, this year, in the comfort and safety of your home. The FEST will conclude with Bishop Roger presiding at Mass down at our Grotto. You can join in the whole experience by going to: www.theFEST.us. Because of the need to keep everyone healthy and safe, the only way you can join us in online. Thanks for your understanding. We need the joy and hope of thousands and thousands coming together to celebrate our faith - and hope - and love of Jesus Christ. Thank you for all your support. So many of our members worked so hard to make The FEST happen this year – and every year. God bless you over and again.

…Speaking of JOY….today’s bulletin invites you to Be the Light. We want to invite you to share the light and love of the Lord with others. Check it out. It’s an easy way to bring joy to others. BTW….you cannot share light with others without it shedding light onto your own path.

…Go outside…spend some time with the Lord. Stay safe and healthy….and allow the Lord to speak to you. Prayers for you. Please pray for all our teachers and administrators as they plan and discern the best ways to start the upcoming school year. God bless.

Saint Ambrose Catholic SchoolA Note From Lisa Cinadr

"We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose." - Romans 8:28

It has been an exciting season of growth for Saint Ambrose School and Littlest Angels Preschool. We were excited to see Father Andrew visiting the halls of the school this week, and stopping in to say hello!

As we re!ect on God's plan and perfect timing, our LAPS team has moved into their new, bigger space as they continue to grow. God bless Mrs. Catherine Mitchell and her team as they continue to thoughtfully prepare for the 2020-

2021 school year to begin at the end of August.

Their new space has also, in God's perfect timing and plans, allowed for Saint Ambrose School to have more space for K-8 students. The lower level is being converted to much needed, additional classroom space and our middle !oor is getting a STEM lab, thanks to our families' generous fundraising e&orts this past year.

In addition, we are thoughtfully preparing for a safe return, IN PERSON to campus this fall. Saint Ambrose K-8 School is also investing into technology to provide Synchronous learning options for our school families unable or unready to return to campus in September in person.

One of our main fundraising events is quickly approaching! We invite the parish to join us for our 2nd Annual Angels Golf and Give Golf Tournament! This event directly supports Saint Ambrose School and Littlest Angels Preschool. Thank you for sharing this event with your friends and family, and considering supporting us and have a lot of fun and fellowship along the way. This event is being planned safely and thoughtfully to accommodate teams on the beautiful Bunker Hill Golf Course.

Many thanks to Bunker Hill for being a Partner in Education for Saint Ambrose School. For more information, or if you have a business and would like discounted advertising, please contact [email protected] for a&ordable Sponsorship and Advertising opportunities that directly support Catholic education!.

MOMENTS OF FAITH • Sacraments and Support

Marriage Moments How Do You Forgive? 75 years ago on August 6 and 9, the USA bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It destroyed many lives. In any marriage, there are times when we hurt each other, sometimes seriously. In your own marriage, how do you heal? How do you forgive? It's not always easy because love is not easy.

Parenting PointersMatthew 11:25The feast of Mary's Assumption into heaven on August 15, reminds us of God's care for our human body. Whether you interpret this feast as truth, legend, or symbolic, the point is that our body is holy and loved.Bless your child with your hands and words today. Be a reminder of God's love.

Eucharistic Adoration "Could you not watch one hour with me?"

Jesus waits for us in the Blessed Sacrament. Eucharistic Adoration is adoring or honoring the Eucharistic Presence of Christ. With our Chapel open with Adoration every Monday we invite you to come and spend time in His Presence. Adoration: 8:45 am - 7:30 pm followed by Benediction.

Eucharistic Adoration is the opportunity to answer His call by spending time with His true presence in the Eucharist, so that we can establish a truly personal relationship with Him. During Adoration, we remain silent in His Presence and open ourselves to His love and Mercy.

Jesus asks so little from us, but gives us so much! The Blessed Sacrament is our Living Fountain of Life where we drink in the love of Christ who alone quenches our thirst. If you would like to join us, volunteer for a time slot, or meet with us to help us grow our Adoration Community, please reach out to Deacon Gary Tomazic at [email protected].
