And if by grace, then it is no longer of works;

otherwise grace is no longer grace.

But if it is of works, it is no longer grace;

otherwise work is no longer work.

1 John 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Romans 3:23 all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

John 3:18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

B. Man is not saved because of what he does.Titus 3:5, not by works of righteousness which we

have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.

Eph. 2:8-9, for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Matthew 7:22-23,

Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’

23And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

C. Man is not saved by what he knows.“He who believes in the Son has everlasting life…”(John 3:36).

“You go to heaven heart first, not head first.”

II. Salvation is by Faith Alone.“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” (Eph. 2:8-9)

A. Notice the teaching here:by grace through faith.

John 3:36 “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

John 3:18, He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Bible verses that teach that Salvation is through faith: John 3:16; John 3:14-15; Mark 16:16; and

Galatians 3:26 for you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

II. Salvation is by Faith Alone.

B. What about Repentance? Repentance is a “change of mind.”

A change of mind about your sins that they are evil, against God and sin is what’s separating you from God.

Repentance is also a change of mind about God.

C. What about Confession?To the Christian:

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

“Confess” really means, ‘to say the same as.’

“Believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths, Jesus is Lord.”

“Jesus is Lord!”

Page 16: “By Grace Alone, Through Faith Alone” · I. By Grace Alone. B. Man is not saved because of what he does. Titus 3:5, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according

Romans 10:8-108 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
