When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not shouting "I'm clean living'."

When I say... "I am a Christian" I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble

and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not trying to be strong. I'm professing that I'm weak

And need His strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not bragging of success. I'm admitting I have failed

And need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not claiming to be perfect, My flaws are far too visible

But, God believes I am worth it.

DAILY THOUGHT

What has God done for you? Today? This week? A decade ago?

We all have stories of His faithfulness in our lives. When we choose to remember them,

we are blessed by them again and again.

Best of all, remembering helps us in tough times. We remember that times have been

tough before and that God helped us through them, and we know in our hearts

He will do it again.

Therefore, when things are tough, it is important to remember

God's faithfulness and blessings.

Father, life is hard right now, but I know that You are good. Remind me of Your faithfulness and renew my heart with Your joy. Amen.

“Time Will Tell” Here is another story Jesus told: "The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer who planted good seed in his field.

But that night as the workers slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat, then slipped away."

Matthew 13:24–25

Even back in the apostle Paul's day, there were counterfeit Christians. He wrote to the church at Corinth, "I have traveled on many long journeys. I have faced danger from rivers and from robbers. I have faced danger from my own people, the Jews, as well as from the Gentiles. I have faced danger

in the cities, in the deserts, and on the seas. And I have faced danger from men who claim to be believers but are not" (2 Corinthians 11:26). There are a lot of people today who are putting on a

great performance, but it is not genuine. It is not real. They are posers.

In the Parable of the Wheat and the Tares found in Matthew 13, Jesus talked about people like these—genuine imitations. Jesus was not referring to struggling believers, but to phonies. He was

talking about actors. And in this parable, He exposed one of the ways in which the devil works. Specifically it is one of the ways the devil will be working in the end times: through imitation.

This parable mentions two sowings. The first is by a farmer who sows seed in his field, hoping for a good crop. The second sowing is done by an enemy who plants tares, or weeds, right next to what the farmer just sowed, with the purpose of uprooting the good seed. A tare was a darnel seed that

initially looked like wheat. But it is not until it is fully grown that it becomes evident that it is not wheat at all.

There are counterfeit Christians today, just as there were in the first century. Yet it will be up to God

to ultimately decide who they are. In that final day, He will determine whether someone is the Christian they profess to be.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13 NIV).

God promised, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13 NIV).

This is more than a casual glance before heading off to work or to carpool in the morning. It’s more than a hit

and run encounter with God. He desires to speak to us through the pages of our Bibles and it requires meditating

and seeking God with our whole hearts.

Jesus told His followers, “If you abide in my Word then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you shall know the

truth and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32 NIV). Abide means to continue in, to tarry, to dwell, to

remain. It is not reading the Scripture for information, but for transformation. There are many scholars who

have read the Bible for information but have never entered into a relationship with Jesus Christ. This reminds

me of the difference between the woman who memorizes a menu at a restaurant and a woman who enjoys the

food… Only one gets fed.

Let me ask you, who can describe a sunset more accurately – a blind person who has read all about sunsets

(what causes the colors, the time of day they occur, the effect of clouds on the hues) or the person who had seen

and experienced the vibrant oranges, blues, pinks and purples painted across the sky as the sun creeps below the

horizon and the rays play peek-a-boo behind the scattered clouds? I dare say the one who has experienced the

sunset for herself. When we study God’s Word and couple that with listening to His voice, we will come to

know Him on a much more intimate level than a Bible scholar who has studied the words on the page but has

never taken the time to converse with the Author Himself.

Jesus told us that when we abide in God’s Word, we will become a disciple, a learner, and an imitator of the

Teacher himself (John 8:31). One thing I’ve noticed through the years, a Bible that is falling apart usually

belongs to a person who isn’t!

Dear Lord, I thank You for the incredible love letter You have written to each and every one of us … the Bible.

I commit to not only read your Word, but meditate on Your Word. Lord, please speak to me through the pages

of my Bible and help me be a woman who hears Your voice.

Solomon (the wisest of all men) said the person following this advice would develop reverence for God and end up knowing God. When we read this passage, we think about the traits a person has to have in order to do what
