Dear AOBA Members,

Auction Extravaganza time is here once again! As the Auc-tion Management team for AOBA’s, 16th annual auction, we wish you a hearty welcome to the Rocky Mountain sate of Colorado. This is a great site in terms of location, weather and facilities for AOBA’s largest gathering of the year.

We also would like to tip our hats to the AOBA Board of Directors! The success of the alpaca industry as a whole, is in many ways a result of the time, energy, and dedication of all Board members, past and present, who have donated their time to an often tough job. Having worked hand in hand with this board for the past several months, we can tell you they are absolutely committed to making this weekend a hugely successful event!

For this year’s auction, North American alpaca breeders have once again put forth a terrific group of consignments! As one views the animals in this sale, the increasing depth of quality of our country’s breeding farms becomes appar-ent. Whether you are an “old timer” to the alpaca business, or are new on the scene, we encourage you to visit with the consignors, view the alpacas, and raise your hand to bid on that favorite lot. You will have a lot of fun, and just might take home a new addition to your herd!

Enjoy the convention, the auction, and each other!

See you in Denver,

Tim Vincent & Teresa Vincent Tom & Nancy Simmons Celebrity Sales Auction Managers for the AOBA National Auction

Iliana is a beautiful typey young female with the “whole” package. She has beautiful conformation and bite. Her fleece is extremely fine with a luxurious handle. She has many elite fleece characteristics--brightness, tight crimp, fineness, bun-dles, and wonderful density. Her sire, Enchantment’s Prince Regent is that won-derful Alianza-Accoyo blend of density and extreme fineness. Iliana shares those qualities with her sire and placed well in competitive halter shows. She’s an experienced dam and has been a solid part of our breeding program. We are keeping her 1st daughter by Caligula’s Accoyo Poseidon and hope she’ll take her mother’s place. Iliana sells with her female cria at side, Katara (sire: Caligula’s Accoyo Poseidon). Iliana is a wonderful mother and Katara is spunky, very pretty with very nice, fine fleece. Our hope is Katara will benefit from Poseidon’s legacy of extreme density, character, and fineness to produce a fleece with his elite characteristics as well as hers. At 5 years old, Iliana still has fine fleece with abundant character. She’s to be bred to TP Poseidon’s Motivator this year.

This fantastic El Trauco daughter will grab your attention with her “LOOK AT ME” factor and presence. She has an outrageously well-covered head and beyond good coverage everywhere else(don’t see the toes on this girl!) Very heavy bone, squarely constructed and a true to type flawless conformation. Recently asked Alonso Burgos of Grupo Inca, what is the most important trait you must have for the world textile market? He replied “LOW CV”. La Finca’s Val has a 17.6 CV, incredible for a 2 year old colored animal. Val has been bred to MSA Peruvian Tequila Sunrise (confirm at auction), look at his picture in the inset and you will see why we chose him. Can you imagine the cria from these two? Both so well covered and THOSE HEADS! By the way, Tequila Sunrise had a 12.9 AFD on his first histogram and consistently shears 13 lbs. of fleece every year. This cria will also carry these awesome lines: Hemingway, El Nino, Caligula and Allin Capac. WOW!

This Heiress did indeed inherit the “best of the best”. She has the feminine qualities that make her pretty and ready for the show ring. Heiress has a regal presence and blinding luster with good conformation and coverage. Heiress also has the substance to fulfill our expectations of her as a breeding female. Even without looking at her, you will know by her pedigree that this Heiress “rules”. Her lineage goes back to the great Ganador and our own Prince of Angels (Crown Royale/Angel/Baron). Ganador, is a timeless male. He is one of the great foundation sires of our American herd. Prince of Angels was undefeated in Halter classes during his show career and his offspring continue to make an impact by earning him Reserve Champion Get-of-Sire at the 2010 Futurity. Heiress’ ancestors are known and respected by quality-driven and knowledgeable Suri breeders. The good news is that she actually lives up to her pedigree. You can bank on it!

Accoyo Elite daughters bred to El Biento have been a quiet but outstanding combination for us and we will be using this pairing a lot in the future. Shyla (a full Peruvian Accoyo Elite daughter) is bred to El Biento! El Biento is an El Nino son from our mega dam, Pacalily (dam of Shiftin Gears). El Biento and Shiftin Gears are the tandem that represented Pacalily in her first place Produce of Dam win at the 2005 AOBA National Show. So this is a great breeding but it gets better when you look at Shyla. Majesty and beauty merge to create a splendid huacaya female, Crescent Moon’s Shyla. Here fleece exhibits fineness, brightness and density along with a moderate to low amplitude but high frequency style of crimp. An elite fleece, true to its heritage as witnessed her very notable pedigree. Shyla bred to El Biento and due in July. Some things are just good!

With great anticipation...we are entering one of the premier herdsires to exist in the alpaca industry! El Nino’s Accoyo Michelangelo is a producer of champions! Sired by the 2004 AOBA Get of Sire, Caligula’s El Nino, Michelangelo has produced vivid colors, density and fineness...all while passing on his best traits in championship style! He has produced an incredible number of ribbon winners and champions with under 150 cria registered. His style and presence connect with the physical attributes and make that intangible “macho”. His first cria started showing in the spring of 2007, and by the end of the first year of showing, the 13 total offspring that entered the showring had amassed an impressive 86 ribbons, including 26 Blues and 16 Banners! And this is all in the first year of breeding him, when we were “learning” the best traits to match to his strengths! When many Champion herdsires fail to criate a Champion progeny, this is amazing!

Black is beautiful and so is Sunset Hills Z-Persistence. This feminine darling has captured our hearts and that of her audience. She is the daughter of our stellar Herd Sire, Peruvian Zephyrus, who has sired offspring with over one hundred Champion banners, including cousin, Zeph’s Cormorant, 10X Color Champion out of the same Grand-Dam, Flo Jo. Z-Persistence has extremely fine, scrumptous fleece with consistent crimp style throughout her blanket and coverage from head to toe. She has already won Blue and Championship ribbons in her first two shows! Grandsire, Tres Cuartes Accoyo Black Expresso, one of our Champion Herd Sires, has produced numerous Champions for us as well. Delicious is big name to live up to, but this little girl is up to the task. Her all-Peruvian background has a lot of very respected names and she comes by them all honestly. Delicious is on my ‘Foundation Females’ list, but Beth insists that this list becomes a lot shorter, so maybe, just maybe, I will let her go. We don’t have her sire, Lightning Locks, but we do still have his IAO Supreme Suri Fleece Champion son, Lightning Strike, and Delicious’s dam. so we could possibly recover from this, but it would take a few years. Delicious has bred with our true black king, LCA Winchester, but as of this writing, we have not confirmed her pregnancy. Winchester is most impressive, as are his crias, so this one will be a phenomenal girl (have to be optimistic, but in this case, you might wish for a boy!).

Happy Hour is a pretty party girl that anyone would be thrilled to celebrate with! She’s got eye-catching presence that the judges are always drawn to, and then she clinches the deal with her true black, lustrous fleece with incredible density, crimp and uniformity. Her black phenotype comes from her outstanding sire, Snowmass Nova’s Private Reserve but her dam is no slouch, having come from the top of Rachel Hendrickson’s breeding program. CMR Peruvian Na Tay has produced multiple champions including HRAZ Alegra who sold for $40,000, and she’s an excellent mother and milker. How can we make this entry even more appealing? Happy Hour is bred to none other than El Nino’s Accoyo Michelangelo for a spring, 2012 cria! THE Michelangelo has produced numerous dark and some true black champion offspring, this ought to be an outstanding match!

We’ve been fortunate to have created some pretty decent greys over the past 16 years, and with these have won 103 grey championships so far. Of our production, Rev it Up might honestly have the softest handling grey fleece we’ve produced to date. His ultra fine primaries exhibit curvature, his fineness to density ratio is excellent, brightness is notable and his staple re-growth rate is fast. With his soft fleece and strong frame, we expect him to shine in the ring as part of our spring 2011 show string. * His sire is our 17x Grey Champion (14C/3R) A.L. Paca’s Revolution. Included among the many winners he’s sired is 3x Grey Champion A.L. Paca’s Revlon, last year’s AOBA Auction High Seller at $46k. * His dam is our 4x Grey Champion (1C/3R) in halter & fleece, MKC’s Absolute on the Rocks who’s produced many of our top winners and champions. Add this guy to your 2011 show string then make the ABSOLUTE MOST of his stud services! More at BeMyAlpaca.com

Sire: DDF Double Dutch’s American Spirit

Amera’s Princess has already proven herself in the show ring under two different judges, winning FABA Grand Champion Fawn Color and at CABA Grand Champion Fawn Color. The judges comments have been, “a complete package of conformation, luster, fineness, density, and uniformity”. Also, “This is what you want to see in an alpaca, the complete package, her luster is outstanding as well as her fineness”, “I noticed her when she came in the ring, as she moved with fluid movement around the ring”. Her sire, Double Dutch’s American Spirit has done an outstanding job of reproducing consistently his genetics. His fiber won his class at Nationals as well as “Best Suri Luster” overall the suris entered. He also won the Suri Symposium fiber contest as well. He has already had several progeny winning championships. Her Dam, WLK Synergy’s Dutchess is out of MacGyver’s Synergy, who was a Champion and has raised Champions. We had an offspring exactly like Lostatsea (pronounced “Lost at Sea”) in mind when we decided to cross the exceptionally fine, dense lines of PC Running Late, son of 6Peruvian Accoyo Titan, with MFI Peruvian Leeward, daughter of MFI Peruvian Jericho. Jericho has sired offspring with over 140 championships. As we hoped, she has a dense, soft fleece with high-frequency, high-amplitude crimp... exactly what we had in mind when we selected this pairing. Lostatsea’s dam, MFI Peruvian Leeward, is a maternal sister to Majestic Peruvian Jeremiah, the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Herdsire of the Year. She also has Accoyo PPPeruvian Augusto, Peruvian Dakotia, Peruvian Bueno, and Peruvian Don Julio in her pedigree. Lostatsea was taken straight from the Magical Farms show string and she is a gorgeous, “total package” alpaca with fleece, phenotype and conformation all being top-of-the line. She sells with a free breeding to any solely-owned, unrestricted Magical Farms herdsire.

NPA Shoshone Wow, look at the pedigree this girl comes from. Deep with color, covered with quality, and proven genetic lines. Shoshone comes from superior Peruvian lines, which include Bueno, Caligula, Drambuie, Victor, El Moustachio, and is infused with some powerful color lines, which include The Reverend Mr. Black, Sinopsis Nocturna, and MSA Pinot Noir. Born in July of 2010, Shoshone is developing very nicely with a healthy frame, gorgeous, fine, bright fleece with medium crimps per inch and natural good looks in black. We offer Shoshone with a breeding of your choice, but we recommend our Champion male S&L Peruvian Bandito, who won his AOBA Championship as a dark silvery gray.

La Finca’s Carey is a MFI Peruvian Providence daughter and a 6Peruvian Accoyo Titan granddaughter, with Hemingway on the bottom of her pedigree. There are only a few truly exceptional females available that are original Accoyo-Alianza crosses. La Finca’s Carey is one of those females. She inherits her density, size, bone and full coverage from the Accoyo side and her consistent fleece character, extreme brightness and fineness from her Alianza side. La Finca’s Carey has been bred to Snowmass Accoyo White Gold (confirm at auction). We are very selective in the females that we breed to White Gold and expect this pairing to produce an awesome cria due to the similar traits they both possess. Carey’s dam, Calabria and her granddam, Choco Mocha, remain in our herd allowing us the opportunity to offer Carey at the 2011 National Auction. With her pedigree you can go dark or light as she would be able to go either way and produce well. Imagine the possibilities!

CiCi possesses strong bone, correct conformation and great coverage for starters. Then, when you put your hands on her, you’ll find her fiber has a wonderful hand and soft, independent locks. CiCi’s sire is the legendary Senor Peruvian Protocol(821662), a full Peruvian, maroon male who has won multiple championships and who has sired many champions as well. Protocol is the son of famous 4PMeteor(166580). CiCi gets her stunning color combination from her dam, Our Peruvian Queen of Spades. She is Spades’ first cria and we are impressed with the results! The quality you will find in this girl is `in the genes!’CiCi has about every color in the alpaca spectrum in her pedigree and will prove to be a spectacular addition for the breeder who is looking to add strong genetics to their program.

The combination of Chase Tavern Tallow and Caligula’s Accoyo Poseidon has hit the mark again with TP Poseidon’s Gladiator! He has great conformation and a correct bite with a stylish head and a proud, erect stance. Upon closer inspection, you will find that this male has AMAZING density combined with remarkable fineness and a beautiful crimp style that is high amplitude and high frequency in tight bundles. Combine that with his high degree of brightness and a nice soft handle and you can imagine his fleece. His 2010 histogram is especially remarkable for his high curvature value. MFD-18.8/SD 4.8/CV-25.6/>30 microns-2.1/Mean Curvature-53 . With all these ingredients, I suspect this boy is a champion in the making!

Here is a rare opportunity. We are extremely proud to offer this FULL ACCOYO 3 IN 1 PACKAGE... Accoyo Athena, FEMALE cria Accoyo Samaria at side (who will be approx. 8 months old time of auction) AND Athena is bred back full Accoyo. We love Athena because we see so much of her recently deceased dam Accoyo Gilda in her, who in fact, should really go down in the history books as a pioneering female to come off of the Accoyo Ranch in Peru. Gilda passed peacefully at the young age of 18. Athena has a half brother out of Gilda... the one and only Brilliance of Peru owned by Golden Spirit Alpaca Ranch. Yeah, he’s outrageously nice. Athena and Samaria both exhibit bundling galore with coverage and gorgeous style. Athena’s histogram reported a 18.6 micron at over 2 years of age, putting her fleece in the textile application of ROYAL fineness. Her cria on side, Samaria, is cute as a button and her dense fleece has a BRIGHT (like, luster....is that okay to say?) buttery soft long staple length. Samaria’s sire and Athena’s service sire, Accoyo America Solomon we co-own with our pals over at Mtn. Jewel Farm. This mating was such a great success the 1st time, we did it again. Solomon shears a 10 lbs. plus blanket every year. Athena is due mid October 2011.

Just as she looks in her photo, Imagine is a well-balanced, pleasing-to-the-eye alpaca. Her beautiful rose grey fleece is soft to the handle with density, high-frequency crimp and long staple length. She is gentle and well-mannered in public. Her pedigree is deep and strong with 3 generations on her dam side having resided on our ranch. All are quality alpacas from thrifty, productive, “easy-keeping” lines strong in their grey color. Her sire, Snowmass Incan Silver, is an AOBA blue ribbon winner descended from a prized Snowmass dam line. He has proven to be the most pre-potent herdsire we have used in our 19 years of alpaca breeding. Incan Silver’s yearling fleece was 16.2 microns and at 4 years old it was still just 20.3, consistent and incredibly dense. Imagine is fully guaranteed and backed by our 32 years of camelid breeding experience. For more information, photos and a fiber sample contact us in Montana at 406-755-9044 or [email protected]

“They” tell us it is difficult, if not impossible, to get “everything” when selecting for traits in our Suri alpacas. We beg to differ. Fanta has it all! She is the epitome of BBFAI’s quality-driven breeding program. Fanta has a great frame stacked on substantial bone and she has the fiber attributes we seek: incredible density, luster, and fineness. Her sire, Mont Blanc, is a special male. He is a multiple-time Judges Choice Award winner, with more Championships than we care to count. Mont Blanc won the coveted AFNCA “Spirit of the Fiber Industry” Award at the 2010 Suri Symposium. Fanta’s dam, Sprite, is a performer in her own right. She placed Champion, 1st, or 2nd in 8 of 9 career showings. She then went on to grace us with 3 fabulous female crias (2 Champions and Fanta). Fanta will be shown by the time she sells. Our alpacas are mated with careful consideration for the traits we value. Fanta is clearly the result. Help yourself.

Pacifica is beautiful, fawn, full-Accoyo daughter of El Nino’s Accoyo Michelangelo and 4Peruvian Accoyo Matilda a cornerstone female in our breeding program who has given us ten offspring to date. Her full sister, owned by Ideuma Creek Alpacas, is a 7-time blue ribbon winner and 2-time color champion (MAPACA and ACFNA fleece shows). Her half brothers out of Matilda, Accoyo Asante’ and Accoyo Pacifico were our top studs prior to Michelangelo and have won get-of-sire for Accoyo Legacy and produce-of-dam for Matilda. Matilda has produced many champions and strongly colored full Accoyos. Pacifica is extremely dense and has uniform fineness throughout her fleece which are trademarks of Michelangelo. In fact, Michelangelo’s fleece at 8 years of age, like his offspring, retain fineness. These genetics are well established in our herd therefore we are offering both Michelangelo and and Pacifica as a representative of his qualities in the 2011 AOBA auction.

Carmela is a stunning Full Peruvian, 7/8 Accoyo, LF female; her buttery soft fleece has exceptional brightness & crimp, qualities sought after in all breeding programs. The judges were impressed, awarding her 1st & Res. Color Champ as a yearling at AlpacaMania & 2nd as a juvenile at a competitive, level V CABA Show. Not surprising given Carmela’s outstanding genetics. Her Dam, Camille, is a LF Full Accoyo, Accoyo Express daughter and her Sire, Accoyo America Phoenix, is a Vic Jr. son out of Phoenicia, a TB Camilio daughter. We believe “The Power is in the Pedigree” and Carmela’s the proof. Carmela is one of the best from our farm. Included is her maiden breeding to our newest herdsire, LMFI Peruvian Delta King, a LF Jeremiah son, himself an 8x Color Ch./Res. Ch. & 16x 1st place winner. This is sure to be a fabulous combination, as you’ve added the genetics of Dakotia, Jericho, Inca’s Ransom, Bueno and Legacy to an already powerful genetic package. Don’t miss out!

We purchased Maxine’s dam Enya, from our friends David and Laurie Feller because we knew how good her dam, Crescent Moon’s Black Magic is. Black Magic is a striking daughter of Camilio and Cannonball and the fact that she was then bred to the great Dark Shadow made her a “have to have”! Enya is a lovely coal black female and so there is little surprise that “eye candy” like Maxine would be her offspring. Maxine is striking! Here massive bone density is a trait not easily found in females. Combine that with her extraordinary conformation and beautiful head and you have what we would call really good breeding stock! Maxine’s fleece is equally divine. As it’s parted, it appears very much like her mega Champion sire’s fleece; dense, very crimpy, well organized, bright and long. Maxine sells with a breeding. We would go back to black and Thelonius would get the call!

Abbie is our favorite black female and got her name from one of our favorite characters in our favorite TV show, NCIS! That adds up to a whole lot of favorites, but she is truly worthy - the best part is that we have the capability of doing this combination again (we hope!), so we can share - lucky you. Abbie has loads of luster, density and locking and enough personality to match her namesake. She comes with your choice of service sires - want go with one of our Inca boys? My personal choice would be a linebreed to LCA Javier, also a Nautilus son and half-brother to Abbie’s sire, but also full brother to Beretta, who is absolutely remarkable. Javier has his first crias on the ground and he has become a huge favorite here - there’s that ‘favorite’ word again! We can take her back home for breeding and sned her to you when ready.

We sold Dawn’s mother as a youngster for $20k, then so admired how she developed that we bought her back for $50k (I know, I know, not the best financial play we’ve made over the years) - and we’re sure we’ll regret the sale of this one as well! So, go ahead, take advantage of our judgment lapse and make this great black female yours! * Dawn’s sire is our 17x Grey Champion (14C/3R) A.L. Paca’s Revolution. Included among the many winners he’s sired is A.L. Paca’s Revlon, last year’s AOBA Auction High Seller at $46k. * Dawn’s dam (well, we talked about her above) is now, and will remain, a key member of our foundation dams. We did let Dawn’s maternal sister go a few years back at the AOBA Auction with her the High Seller at $96k - and no, we didn’t go and spend even more to try to buy her back :-) After you’re done showing Dawn, bring her to our farm for breeding to our Futurity winner & 8x Grey Champion (3C/5R) Simba’s Silver Maze. We would like all of our females to look like Solenne. Stout, large boned, sturdy and beautiful are all appropriate adjectives for Solenne and they certainly imply great breeding stock, which is what we want our females to be. Solenne’s fleece is dense with uniformed architecture and good fineness. For her first pairing we have matched her with the great Accoyo Elite. This breeding is all about producing a striking and beautifully fleeced next generation alpaca. We like our chances of meeting this goal and we love Solenne as a foundation female going forward.

Wow! What a striking Valentino daughter. Stunning fleece of high frequency and moderate amplitude design compliment her very good density and advanced fineness. Calamity sports a lovely blanket to say the least. For her pairing this year she has been bred to Crescent Moon’s Nitro. Now we will admit that we are pursuing the depth of color which resides in Calamity’s DNA but that is not all. Nitro is a mega champion and there is little to no compromise on fleece qualities for this breeding. MFI Order of Things is a gorgeous medium brown female with a beautiful, soft, crimpy brown fleece. She is a striking female with a gorgeous head, large bone capacity, excellent coverage and an excellent colored fleece! Her sire is MFI Peruvian Magnar, son of DPA Quetzal and grandson to the fawn accoyo male PPeruvian Timoteo. Her dam is a beautiful black female named MFI Okalani, daughter of Peruvian Dakotia, the patriarch of the Jericho/Jeremiah/Playboy/Precocious line! If pedigree is important to you, here are just some of the stars in her pedigree: Accoyo PPeruvian Timoteo, 4Peruvian Matador (sire of MFI Peruvian Black Mesquite), Peruvian Bueno, and Peruvian Dakotia. The female line in her pedigree is as impressive. Okalani is maternal sister to DPA Florence, the multiple-champion dam of MFI Freebird. MFI Order of Things has it all! We are proud to donate this outstanding female to AOBA to benefit membership marketing!

Things’ full-fleece head.

Jamaica has a power-packed genetic package that will make her a great foundation female for your farm. Shackelton, Neruda, and Sinopsis Nocturna line-up on her Sire’s side, while Legacy, Kryptonite and Roosevelt round out her Dam’s side. All of these genetics say color and quality. Jamaica has perfect conformation and a nice type-y head. Her fleece is fine, 19.6 AFD, bright and lacks guard hair. We acknowledge she could use more crimp in her fleece, that is why we have bred her to our Premier Herdsire, Accoyo America Phoenix. Phoenix continually adds desireable fleece characteristics to his crias and he too carries superb genetic lines with deep color in his pedigree. Jamaica could also be bred to Grey, as she is loaded with grey and black ancestry. We think you will be very pleased with her first cria and we’ll be curious to see what she produces when you breed her back to a Grey!

Sunset Hills Panachez is the lovely daughter of Mocha Latte (a Misty Maiden grand-daughter) and our 8 time Color Champion, AML’s El Duro’s Principio! We love the Misty Maiden line and had to have Mocha Latte when we first saw her. Panachez’s Sire, Principio was hands down a “Yes!” decision for us and he has proved his worth in all of his offspring we have been blessed with including Panachez. Our first Principio offspring, Sunset Hills Positively Perfect ,Sunset Hills Principle Gold, Sunset Hills Paradize, Sunset Hills Private Reserves ...all won Blue Ribbons and Championships in the show ring! Panachez was too young when we decided our Spring ‘10 show string but believe me, she is a winner! With silky, bright, fawn fleece and narrow but high amplitude crimp style with lots of character and loads of coverage over her entire blanket, this girl is another knockout. Even her topknot has the finest of tiny crimps galore. She has supberb fineness of 17.0,that’s panache

The Sock Brigade has been sending alpaca socks to our troops since 2007 and in that time we have sent over 10,000 pairs of socks to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Sock Brigade’s goal is three pairs of alpaca socks per soldier deployed. The alpaca community has gone over and above to help us inch closer to this goal. A very happy consequence of the Sock Brigade project is getting more alpaca products into more hands and onto more feet.

Because warm feet are NOT a luxury!

Sock Brigade National Auction Opener!Sock Brigade National Auction Opener!

We are excited to share our news and invite you to be part of the action & sending alpaca socks to our soldiers in harm’s way. To celebrate we have a few auction lots to help raise funds to send more socks!
