How it works The ANZ Support Band is a wearable device that allows athletes in Tokyo to feel a physical sensation of support from their fans overseas, in the form of a vibration on their wrist. Fans at home can send a ‘pulse’ of support simply by tapping their own support band. Fans without a band can do the same through the New Zealand Team mobile app. Developed in consultation with athletes, the Support Band allows the New Zealand Olympic and Paralympic teams' athletes receive a daily 'support tally' showing the full measure of support from back home. HOW TO MAKE YOURS Here’s all the information you need in order to develop and produce your own version of the ANZ Support Band. And if the answer isn’t here, you can connect with the people who will be able to help. There are six steps you need to take to implement the Support Band: 1. Leverage an existing relationship with a national sporting body. 2. Work with a technology provider to develop the Support Band. 3. Consult with the national sporting body and athletes. 4. Pair the Support Band via Bluetooth with a new or existing mobile application. 5. Develop the athlete and supporter contact strategies. 6. Promote the Support Bands. The three components for producing the Support Band: 1. The data aggregation server. 2. The wearable device. 3. How it works
