As the new IKEA Catalogue arrives this August, 199 million people around the world will be inspired by the new 2010 Collection. This year’s new Collection features four key home décor trends, along with thousands of great everyday solutions for the home.
SHADES OF GREY - Grey is the achromatic hue of the year. From high-gloss finishes for kitchens and bathrooms, to textured knits and woven fabrics, it is the perfect neutral.
CURVACEOUS – There is a certain softness that can be added to a room by incorporating furnishings with rounded edges, organic shapes and curvy lines.
WALNUT – This retro chic wood tone is making a comeback in home décor. Walnut finishes can be found in major pieces of furniture, picture frames as well as kitchen counters.
GRAPHIC PATTERN – This year IKEA offers bold choices in textiles and artwork with grafiti prints, nature motifs, black and white as well as polka dots that bring any room to life.

“The plant pot was the first thing I designed in the BIGARRÅ decoration series. I let it take space in the room, with its generous width and asymmetrical shape. And it turned into a sculpture as well as a functional plant pot. The vases and candle holders grew out of the same idea. Then I chose stoneware as the material. The matte, glazed surface gives the same velvety feeling as a polished stone. Together, the shape and material are a visual reminder of the feeling of touching a smooth stone.”
