Comparison

33 offences less occurred in the area during the six-month period covered by the Dispersal Order when compared to the previous six-month period. There were half the ABH allegations in the period covered by the Dispersal Order than in the previous 6 months (11 rather than 22). There were twice as many drugs arrests in the area during the period covered by the Dispersal Order, and a considerably smaller number of Other Thefts.

The areas in which the offences occurred remain unchanged – offences tend to occur in the same areas of the Windmill Park Estate. Alderson Place experienced an increase in offending during this period.

The rates for offending in the area are shown in the table below. There was a significantly lower rate of offending in this area during the six months the Dispersal Order lasted than in the previous six months. Although there has not been a long period to analyse the effect of the Dispersal Order, it is clear that this reduced rate of offending has thus far been maintained in the days since the Dispersal Order ended.

It must be remembered that seasonal fluctuation could account for varying numbers of allegations in the area.

Number of offences per dayBefore dispersal order 0.61Duration of dispersal order 0.45After dispersal order 0.39

issues, house had been trashed, streams of visitors, intimidation of neighbours, known criminals and dealers congregated there

• PCSO’s worked with neighbours to collect evidence and reassure

• Warrant executed and evidence of Class A’s found – already loads of ASB evidence!

• Notice and Order served – boarded up and cleaned up ASAP

• Residents thrilled and brought refreshments out to the officers whilst boarding up…
