FADE IN

EXT. DARK CITY ALLEY - DAY1 1

AMANI’s (25, biracial, black/white) feet splash through a puddle that show the reflection of a rainbow mural. ZOE, (27 white, female) sprints around the corner to catch up to her.

Amani struggles to climb a wall to escape. ENFORCER SOLDIERS chase them from behind.

ZOEGo ahead, you got the drop! Float over it!

Amani continues to reach over the wall. She backs up and holds her hands up towards it and strains her face. Her arms fall to her side. She turns to Zoe.

AMANII can’t!!

Zoe rolls her eyes stops, and turns around. Enforcers run closer to her. She waves her arms to the side and they Enforcers telepathically fly into a ditch.

Zoe turns and looks at Amani with a smirk. Amani looks back.

An Enforcer shoots a diminisher onto Zoe’s forehead. She falls to the ground.

AMANI (CONT’D)Noooooooo!

Another Enforcer shoots a smoke bomb that hit the wall and falls next to Amani’s feet. Red smoke fills the air around her. Amani COUGHS.

Amani struggles up the wall. A diminisher flies onto the wall near her and attaches itself. The Enforcers run closer. Amani backs up and jumps higher than she has ever in her life.

Amani gets over the wall. Her hands are on her knees as she catches her breath and holds in tears. An Enforcer comes from behind her and hits her with a baton. She falls to the ground unconscious.

ENFORCER 1Is she even one of them?

ENFORCER 2Can’t be. Probably a girlfriend or something. We’ll let the labs figure it out.

INT. NURSE HILL’S LAB - DAY2 2

Amani’s vision blurs, slowly correcting itself as MS MULFORD (55, white, female) and NURSE HILL, (23, white, female) talk amongst each other in front of her.

MS MULFORDThese children will wake up the dead if they are not kept in check, nurse...

Nurse Hill puts her head down. Amani is groggy her head still spinning trying to make out the shapes of everything around her.

MS MULFORD (CONT’D)We keep executing them before trials, you can kiss our funds good bye and your REMEDIAL services will no longer be needed.

NURSE HILLAre you kidding me? (leans in)You’re giving propofol to cooks and chefs instead of licensed techs.

MS MULFORDSo when your injections fail they don’t take over this whole asylum!

Amani’s vision starts to make out Ms Mulford and Nurse Hill talking in front of her.

NURSE HILLThey’re different than us! Constantly adapting, at least they’ve accepted the asylum program. Our assessments are just glorified guess games...

Amani looks back and forth at them.

MS MULFORD Shh, she’s up. This is what I’m talking about, nurse.

(walks up to Amani)Come.

(towards the door)Open up!

Door lock, BUZZ. Ms Mulford pulls Amani’s arm with her to the door. Without turning around.

MS MULFORD (CONT’D)Fix it nurse!

Nurse Hill puts her head down in disappointment.

INT. MS MULFORD’S HALLWAY - DAY3 3

Stoic Ms Mulford lets go of Amani’s arm as they walk. Indigo Children of different ages walk around the hall and sit on the floor. One child rocks back and forth repetitively scratching their elbow as they stare at Amani. Amani looks around, confused.

INT. DETAINMENT LUNCHROOM - DAY4 4

Ms Mulford stares into the lunchroom from the hall window.

Inside the lunchroom, a smartphone is held up by a TEENAGE INDIGO who wears cat ears. They are in front of other TEENAGE INDIGO children posing with different mask. They smile and switch mask with each other as they take pictures.

Amani looks at them as she walks pass with a plate of food. They all look at the smart phones and smile and show each other.

Ms Mulford walks away.

Amani sits down by herself. She grabs her fork and looks at her food. She looks up and notices MARSHALL, (25, male, black) shovel food into his mouth in a darker corner of the lunchroom.

Marshall looks up and motions his hand for Amani to come sit with him. Amani looks surprised. She looks around, grabs her lunch tray, and sits at his table. She looks at him as he keeps eating.

He realizes Amani’s glare and pauses with food in his mouth.

MARSHALLWhat? This is the best food ever.

Marshall keeps eating. Amani looks at her plate. She looks up and scans the entire room.

MS MULFORD (CONT'D)

MARSHALL (CONT’D)... got plenty of it for us too.

DROOLING INDIGO (8, male) lies his head on the table beside his food. DAZED INDIGO (10, female) gazes at the ceiling as she rocks her head back and forth, her mouth wide open.

Amani looks back at her plate and starts to eat.

MARSHALL (CONT’D)Mmhm... They didn’t treat you too rough gettn you in here did they? Wouldn’t be the first time...

GOSSIP INDIGO (female, 16) stands up from her lunch table with her smart phone in her hand.

GOSSIP INDIGOHey!?

Amani follows Gossip Indigo’s eyes glaring at RUMOR INDIGO (female, 14). Rumor Indigo stands up and looks back at her.

RUMOR INDIGOEveryone knows it’s true!

Marshall grabs his smartphone. He looks at it and chuckles as he looks at Rumor Indigo. Gossip Indigo slams her phone and charges towards Rumor Indigo.

MARSHALLThis won’t take long.

An Enforcer meets her halfway and slams their glowing baton into her skull. Gossip Indigo lies on the ground motionless. Amani is stunned by the sight and freezes with a fork of food close to her mouth.

Another Enforcer walks up behind Rumor Indigo and stands there. The Enforcer backs up as Rumor Indigo peaks behind them and sits back into her seat.

Marshall shakes his head as he puts his head down and keeps eating.

MARSHALL (CONT’D)Well, why ever you got here, better know your role. Play your part, you know? Like one big family.

Amani looks away from Gossip Indigo back to Marshall as she starts back eating.

AMANII don’t remember how I got here. I think my family... is gone.

Amani looks at the bracelet on her wrist.

MARSHALLMe too. It’s like a dream that won’t end.

GAME INDIGO (12, male) is submerged into a game on a smart phone with a plate of food in front of them. He ignores another child in front of him who rapidly eats their food on a tray.

AMANIYou seen a girl named Zoe here?

Marshall shakes his head. Amani looks worried.

MARSHALLThis is far from the place to be worried, hommy. She a sister or something?

Amani nods her head as she eats.

MARSHALL (CONT’D)You better hope she IS here, and not on the outside fighting humans.

CHESS INDIGO 1 (8, female) AND CHESS INDIGO 2 (10, male) focus on a chessboard as they rapidly make moves with the chess pieces across from each other. Their moves do not follow the rules of the game and they never looking up at each other.

MARSHALL (CONT’D)Indigo children are back normal here. Safe. They figured it out! No more telepathy, and crazy headaches and all that.

The Teenage Indigo Children are at their table laughing at the group photo they are taking with all their masks and toys. Amani looks at them.

MUSCLE INDIGO (25, male, muscular) sits by himself just playing with a plate of food with a spoon.

MARSHALL (CONT’D)See, Oscar over there...

Marshal nods his head towards OSCAR INDIGO (20, male). Oscar face-times on an iPad with his MOTHER’S, face on it.

MARSHALL (CONT’D)...thought his ma was killed by Enforcers. Not here! Her conscious just moved into the collective, see?

Oscar stares at the image talking to him on his iPad screen.

MOTHERMake sure you take your medicine before you eat dinner...

Amani watches Oscar nod his head.

MARSHALLAnything is possible here. We can be anything we want!

Amani puts one more piece of food in her mouth.

INT. AMANI’S ROOM - DAY5 5

Amani lies in bed asleep, motionless. The decadent room has sun rays that shine from the window. The drapes flow and shine against the colorful wallpaper. She opens her eyes.

YOUNG ZOE (O.S.)Are you done?

Amani sits up from the bed and looks at YOUNG ZOE, 7, female, white. Young Zoe walks up to her and moves their wrists next to each other to look at their matching bracelets. Amani looks at her arms trying to figure out what’s going on.

YOUNG ZOE (CONT’D)Eww, you’re old.

AMANI This is a dream...

YOUNG ZOEYou have nooooo idea... Still don’t remember, eh?

Young Zoe crawls onto the bed. She starts jumping up and down. Amani looks at her.

AMANIZoe? You’re like 6?

YOUNG ZOEWhich is why this is so much fun!

Young Zoe enjoys jumping up and down on the bed. Amani stands up and looks outside the window.

YOUNG ZOE (CONT’D)This is just how you choose to see me. I would be offended but, I kinda get it. Anyway, lets try this.

Young Zoe stops jumping on the bed. Amani walks around and looks at the floor to analyze the situation.

YOUNG ZOE (CONT’D)Where are you? Right now...

AMANII’m with you.

Amani stops and stares at a painting of the tree of life.

YOUNG ZOEThat is not accurate.

Young Zoe sits down in bed and crosses her legs. She holds her palms up as she closes her eyes and holds her index finger to her thumb. Amani looks around confused. Amani closes her eyes.

AMANII’m being held. No...

YOUNG ZOEYesssss...

AMANIBut how!?

YOUNG ZOERelax... Come on, remember our training.

Amani looks around on the ground. She sits on the ground and crosses her legs. She wipes dust from the ground with her fingers and holds it up to her face. Young Zoe’s eyes are still closed.

YOUNG ZOE (CONT’D)You can sit on the bed, ya know?

AMANIOh...

Amani crawls up onto the bed and imitates Young Zoe.

YOUNG ZOEI won’t judge, I still think you got Dad’s wits.

Amani opens her eyes offended.

YOUNG ZOE (CONT’D)No emotions, Amani, this is important... Focus...

Amani closes her eyes and breaths.

YOUNG ZOE (CONT’D)The power is within your heart, your soul. Rise to and through your crown.

Memories flash through Amani’s mind.

AMANII... I’m being held. I think I’m trapped.

INT. ENFORCER BASE DETAINMENT ROOM - DAY6 6

INDIGO CHILDREN of all ages are lined up and shackled to walls and caged. They have diminishers on their foreheads. Amani struggles while bound to the wall beside Marshall, a large person trapped in a cage, and numerous others that were in the lunchroom.

AMANI (O.S.)It’s all of us!

INT. AMANI’S ROOM - DAY5C 5C

Amani begins to cry as she meditates.

AMANIIt’s not fair!


Amani’s face twitches and frowns as sweat and tears run down her face. A lockbox stands in front of them that blinks a red light.

YOUNG ZOE (V.O.)Relax, Amani.... We can stop them. We can break free.


Tears continue to run down Amani’s eyes. Young Zoe remains calm. Both have their eyes closed.

INT. ENFORCER BASE DETAINMENT ROOM - DAY6B 6B

Enforcers drag Zoe into the room and throw her in the lockbox with a diminisher on her forehead in front of Amani and the other incapacitated prisoners. They close the door as she starts to get up. Zoe bangs on the inside of the door.

ZOEAaaarrgh!

Zoe looks out a little window that shows Amani shackled to the wall. She turns towards the lockbox door, ANGRY.

She closes her eyes and holds her hands to the door. Everything begins to shake.

Enforcers pour into the room and surround the lockbox.

TWO GUN SHOTS punch holes into a lockbox window and hit Zoe in the chest.


Amani continues to cry.

AMANI But, you’re dead.

INT. ENFORCER BASE DETAINMENT ROOM - DAY6B 6B

Zoe’s body bleeds out on the ground.

YOUNG ZOE (V.O.)This is not accurate...

Zoe’s soul floats into the air.

YOUNG ZOE (V.O.)We transcend the 3rd dimension.

INT. AMANI’S ROOM - DAY5B 5B

Zoe’s soul floats into the room towards Amani.

AMANIWe’re Indigo.

Amani opens her eyes with intent. A wind hits their faces. Young Zoe is gone.

ZOE (V.O.)I told you, I would never leave you! Now get up Amani.


Amani is bound to the wall. The diminisher flies off of her head.

ZOE (V.O.)Get up!!

Amani’s eyes open. She sweats and breathes hard. She looks at one hand and telekinetically throws a shackle off one arm. She does the same to her other arm. She gets down and looks over at all the other Indigo people that are trapped. She glares at Marshall for a second.

ENFORCER (O.S.)Hey!

Amani looks over at the enforcer from across the room.

ENFORCER (CONT’D)What in the hell, eh....

Amani holds her hand out towards the enforcer and he begins to choke. Amani motions her hand towards the wall and the enforcer’s body slams into it and he falls to the ground.

Amani walks over to his body and pulls it completely inside the room.

Amani looks over and sees Zoe’s blood leak from inside the lockbox. She creeps outside the door.

INT. ENFORCER BASE HALLWAY - DAY7 7

Amani slides her back down a wall with Anti-Indigo Children propaganda everywhere. An ALARM starts to go off.

Amani looks down the corner of another hallway and dozens of ENFORCERS storm towards her. She turns away and quickly runs back into the room.

INT. ENFORCER BASE DETAINMENT ROOM - DAY6C 6C

Amani closes the door behind her and leans on it. She slaps her forehead a couple of times.

AMANIWe’re trapped!

ZOE (O.S.)You know if you keep saying that you’re gonna breathe it into existence.

Amani looks up at spirit Zoe. They smile at each other as they stand for combat.

ZOE (CONT’D)I gotta admit, I never brought a spirit back before. I’m almost impressed.

Amani closes her eyes and breathes. Enforcers BANG on the door.

ENFORCER (O.S.)Someone else is in there with them! Hurry!

Amani eyes are still closed as she breathes. All the latches and cages break open for all the prisoners. Their diminishers fly off their forehead onto the ground.

ZOEOooo, you’re just showing off now...

Zoe grins and looks back at the door the Enforcers keep banging on.

Marshall stands himself up with everyone else. They all examine their limbs as they gain their strength back and realize the danger they are in.

Marshall walks up to Amani. He looks over at her for a bit.

MARSHALLI don’t know what you did, but I sure don’t feel safe anymore.

Muscle Indigo reveals his large stature as his eyes glow and he crawls out of the cage to stand next to Amani.

Zoe, Amani, Marshall and the Muscle Indigo stand beside each other, eyes glowing. All stare at the door as the enforcers continue to BANG from the other side.

MUSCLE INDIGOOpen the door...

All three look over at Muscle Indigo.

ZOEWell, alright...

Zoe motions her hand towards the door lock. It unhinges. She looks at Amani and smiles.

ZOE (CONT’D)Now THEY’RE trapped.

Amani looks over at Marshall.

AMANIDon’t worry. This won’t take long.

The door begins to open.

FADE OUT.
