ANOTHER CHRISTMAS CAROL

The day is today. The time is now. You get up from

your bed, stretching your arms & stifling a yawn.

Hmm...That was a nice movie, you think to

yourself. You look at the clock-2 a.m. Just next to it,

barely visible beneath the notebooks piled up

randomly, half empty pack of chips & all the other

stuff from days ago is a very crumpled physics

tutorial sheet. Oh crap! That's due tomorrow. I amso dead. You think to yourself. You pick it up. Not a

word makes sense. Even a minute hasn't passed

before you pass out on your bed.

Something is tickling you. No...Something is

shaking you. You pop open an eye...What the

hell!!! Your physics teacher is looming upon you!You get up with a start. You have never seen him

look so scary, not even the time his eyes are

searching for a target to ask a question. And you

have well experienced his wrath in that

situation."Sir! What..?How...? Before you can finish

his raspy cold voice stops you dead, Dont ask

questions before I have even started the

lecture...Now pay attention. You look in

bewilderment at him. Poor guy has finally lost it.

But he goes on, Its been ages since you joined

JUET & you don't even know the first thing about

B.Tech. That's a big problem & we are going to

solve it today. His words just fly above your head,

same way as in his class."Tonight you will bevisited by three different ghosts-of your past,

present & future. They will carry this lecture

further". You open your mouth to ask whatever in

the world he means by that but he is already

disappearing. Huh!! You blink your eyes. He is

gone. You scratch your head & tell yourself thatyou must be hallucinating. Too much gaming

perhaps. You are about to return to sleep when pop

comes a sound. The next thing you know, a shape

materializes in front you. Its small, transparent &

has a glowing head. The candle whispers, I am the

ghost of your past. Lets go back now... And

suddenly the room starts revolving around you......

You are standing in the campus. Its the day you

first registered in the college. Your father is

handing you some money & telling you to take

care of yourself. Your mother has tears in her eyes

as she bids you goodbye. You feel heavy at heart

but tell them not to worry & promise to make them

proud.....Now you are in the auditorium seating

with 450 students just like you. You are listening to

the dean encouraging you to work hard & achieve

success.....But this is what happened, says the

ghost...Another scene... Its electronics lecture &

you are having a hard time keeping your eyes

open, you doze off...Another day, math teacherthrows you out of the tutorial class as you were

talking & not paying attention... You left out PD

assignment as you were busy playing counter

strike... Computer quiz & you cant do anything as

you bunked most lectures & went to cafeteria...

More & more such recaps begin to dance in front ofyour eyes. You start screaming for them to stop......

Everything is quiet now. You are back in your room.

Door opens & your best friend comes in. Hey

dude! I am the ghost of your present. Cmon we

are late for the physics lecture. Till this point you

are so shaken, you just follow him without arguing.You enter the LT half expecting the teachers ghost

but he is just himself. Out of curiosity you start

listening to him & after a while you are surprised

that he is just delivering the lecture & you actually

understand it. Suddenly your cell beeps. A friend is

messaging you. As you turn to check it out, the

teacher spots you. You will never change. Give

that to me & get out of the class, he shouts. You

say sorry, you want to attend the class but he

wont listen. Having no choice you move out.......

Few minutes later you are at your room trying to

figure out whats going on. Wait a minute! Why is it

all so dark & cold? A slithering sound comes from

behind you. You turn around & then what you seesends chills down your spine. A tall, dark, sleek,

shadowy skeleton wearing black robes floats

towards you.I am the ghost of your future. Come

with me... the ghost hisses. Too scared to argue,

you just close your eyes. Once again the room

revolves.......You are seating alone in AB. Companies have come

to the college for placements. Some of your friends

are already placed but you are here as you still

have few backs to clear. Although now you are an

average student with sufficient knowledge you

werent even allowed to sit for the interview asyour C.G.P.A wasnt enough. You are depressed &

lost. You scream in anguish but theres no one to

hear you now......

Snap!! You get up with a start. You are sweating &

your heartbeat is in frenzy. You check the clock-6

a.m. You pick up the tutorial sheet & get down towork.
