Make Your Own Magic Flash Paper Flash paper is an extremely delicate explosive which is liable to detonate at the slightest provocation during the process of manufacture or after and ready for use! This possibility is ever prevailing. After preparation, flash paper MUST be stored in a dry place away from excessive HEAT. First prepare solution of four parts concentrated sulphuric acid and five parts concentrated nitric acid. Place this mixture in a shallow glass dish. If any heat should develop upon mixing the acids, let the mixture stand until cool (room temperature). Soak white tissue paper about ten minutes in this acid solution. Remove the paper from the acid solution using a glass rod for this operation. Wash in running water for as long a time as it takes to remove all the acid. If the acid is not completely removed, the paper will be very unstable and an even more dangerous explosive will result. After being certain that all the acid has been removed, dry in the open air away from all sparks or other sources of potential fire. Store single sheets between unprepared tissue paper or cardboard. DO NOT PLACE IN A CLOSED CONTAINER! Coloured Flash Paper: For RED flash paper - Strontium nitrate For CRIMSON flash paper - Strontium chloride For YELLOW flash paper - Sodium nitrate For PALE GREEN flash paper - Barium nitrate For DEEP GREEN flash paper - Copper chloride For VIOLET flash paper - Potassium nitrate Use as much of the chemical that will dissolve in water to prepare the solutions required. Now soak your flash paper in the solution above for the desired colour. Remove and let dry. That's it!

Thispossibility is ever prevailing. After preparation, flash paper MUST be stored in a dryplace away from excessive HEAT. First prepare solution of four parts concentratedsulphuric acid and five parts concentrated nitric acid. Place this mixture in a shallowglass dish. After being certain that all the acid has been removed, dry in the open air away from allsparks or other sources of potential fire. Store single sheets between unprepared tissuepaper or cardboard.
