Make Your Own Magic Flash Paper

Flash paper is an extremely delicate explosive which is liable to detonate at the slightestprovocation during the process of manufacture or after and ready for use! Thispossibility is ever prevailing. After preparation, flash paper MUST be stored in a dryplace away from excessive HEAT. First prepare solution of four parts concentratedsulphuric acid and five parts concentrated nitric acid. Place this mixture in a shallowglass dish. If any heat should develop upon mixing the acids, let the mixture stand untilcool (room temperature).

Soak white tissue paper about ten minutes in this acid solution. Remove the paper fromthe acid solution using a glass rod for this operation. Wash in running water for as longa time as it takes to remove all the acid. If the acid is not completely removed, thepaper will be very unstable and an even more dangerous explosive will result.

After being certain that all the acid has been removed, dry in the open air away from allsparks or other sources of potential fire. Store single sheets between unprepared tissuepaper or cardboard.
