Positively introduce underrepresented/underserved middle school students to applied learning and technical education in STEM fields.
Expose underrepresented/underserved middle school students to multiple technical career pathways and demonstrate the value of working in these technical fields.

Link foundational STEM theories and practices to hands on college-level activities and learning in order to increase perceived accessibility of technical career pathways.
Provide leadership opportunities to past Camp BMF participants by inviting participation in this year’s camp as volunteer junior staff.

First generation college students 7th and 8th grade students – Jackson Middle
School and Coon Rapids Middle School
Students with a 2.0 – 3.0 GPA

Classes were held at Anoka Technical College
Transportation to and from ATC was provided
Curriculum designed by and taught by higher
education instructors and K-8 school teachers
Materials and supplies were included

Instructional learning and social fun
Day trips and end of camp field trip

Completion graduation ceremony, certificate and
video.

The activities and the hands on work like automotive.
Enjoyed learning new things with new people. I met new friends too.
The training and learning new things. Especially, liked building the ROBOT. I had a good time.
