JR/SR HIGH YOUTH NEWS

WE NEED YOUR HELP! National Youth Conference is in 2018! Fundraising has begun. We will need approximately $1,000 for each youth to attend. (Eligible youth: those that have completed grade 9 through one year beyond

grade 12) Youth interested in NYC will need to attend an Information-al Meeting Sunday, August 20th. At 9:30am Participants in National Youth Conference (NYC) 2018 will focus on the theme “Bound Together: Clothed in Christ.” The scriptural theme is from Colossians 3:12-15: “As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe your-selves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.” +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Christian Ed is looking for a “Nursery Coordinator” to organize the schedule for the care of children ages 0-2 during Sunday services. Please contact Wendy Lingle if interested.

Announcing an upcoming Children’s Disaster Services Workshop!

November 17-18, 2017 at Little Swatara Church of the Brethren,

contact, Jean Myers, at (610) 678-5247 or [email protected]

Since 1980, Children's Disaster Services trained and certified volunteers have been providing nurturing care for children in shelters or assistance cen-ters following disasters. The training is an overnight experience, simulating a shelter situation, and includes an overview of our work, understanding phases of disaster and how we fit in, working with disaster partners, children and family needs follow-ing disaster, supporting resilience in children, setting up a children's center with a Kit of Comfort, ethical guidelines, and the certification process. Anyone 18 or over is welcome to attend this 2 - day training (27 hours) and become a certified CDS caregiver. References and background checks are also required for certification. Once caregivers complete certification, all expenses are paid for disaster responses. The website link for registrations is www.brethren.org/cds/training/dates.html
