B. SUCCESS IN GATE 2017:

Mechanical engineering department has conducted classes

for GATE-2018 examination from 11/12/2017 to

25/01/2018. More than 100 Hours of coaching was

explicitly conducted for GATE-2018. Two Mock tests were

conducted in the month of January. Mr. Vinayak Karkale

scored highest Marks (54) in GATE-2018 having Score of

94.74 Percentile.

Prof. D.D. Bhoge worked as coordinator for GATE classes.

C. SUCCESS IN GRE/TOEFL:

Following students of Mechanical Engineering Department

have cracked IELTS examination for pursuing their Master’s

Degree in universities abroad. Dr. S. S. Metan, worked as

coordinator and guided these students for examination

preparation.

Admissions to MS Abroad:

In the academic year 2017-18, following three students

have gone for pursuing their Master’s degree in the foreign

universities.

Mr. Harish Kusekar has got admission to M.S.

programme in Industrial Engineering at University

of New Haven, Connecticut, New-York, USA.

Mr. Chaitanya Keskar has got admission to MS

program in Mechanical Engineering at La Trobe

University, Sydney, Australia.

Mr. Ruturaj Trivedi has got admission to MS

program in Naval Design Engineering with Eraumus

Mundus Scholarship, in Belgium, France and

German Universities.

2) MOU WITH INDUSTRY:

I) Thermax Ltd. Pune.

Mechanical department has signed MOU with Thermax

Ltd., Pune. Under this MOU, the Thermal Power

Plant Training Program is arranged by Thermax Ltd

Pune to enhance the practical knowledge and industry

specific skills of students in Operation& Preventive

Maintenance, Trouble shooting and Management of

Thermal Power Plants.

20 Final year Students had undergone this training,

whichwas conducted in 3 stages.

Stage 1(15 Days): 18-30 Dec 2017 at Thermax Ltd

Pune.

Stage 2 (3 Days): 16-19 Feb 2018 at Sidheshwar Sugar

Factory Solapur.

Stage 3 (6 Days): 26/2/2018 to 2/3/2018 at NKOCET

Solapur. After completing the course student will get

chance to appear for interviews in Thermax ltd. Pune

II) Saurabh Flexipack Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Pune.

Mechanical department has signed MOU with Saurabh

Flexipack Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Pune. Under this MOU

training for the faculty members & students, sponsored

project for the final year students and placement

opportunity will be provided by Saurabh Flexipack Pvt.

Ltd. Pune. Also NKOCET will bethe Technical

Innovation Sub-Center and the Technical Knowledge

Partner in the design, development activities of Saurabh

Flexipack Systems Pvt. Ltd., Pune.

III) Precise Engineers Pvt. Ltd., Solapur

Mechanical department has signed MOU with Precise

Engineers Pvt. Ltd., Solapur.Under this MOU student

and faculty members will be trained in manufacturing &

CNC domain. NKOCET will be Technical Knowledge

Partner in the technical design, development activities

in Precise Engineers Pvt. Ltd., Solapur.

08 Students from Mechanical Department have

undergone specific industry oriented training in CNC

Machine for one month and these students will be given

placement opportunities by Precise Engineers Pvt. Ltd.,

Solapur.

3) CO-CURRICULAR COURSES CONDUCTED:

Department of Mechanical Engineering has conducted

various Co-curricular courses which will enhance the

technical skills of the students to become industry

10) Awards Won And Special Achievement By the

Students and Faculty Members:

1) Prof.B.R.Birajdar is amongst the top 241 performers

from a total of 5308 participants in the Pandit Madan

Mohan Malaviya National Mission for Teachers

Training programme(PMMMNMTT). This FDP was

held under the MHRD, conducted by Indian Institute

of Technology Bombay.

2) Prof.D.D.Bhoge has successfully completed NPTEL

course on Laws of thermodynamicsconducted by IIT

Kharagpur, funded by Ministry of HRD. He is ranked

amongst the top 5% performers in the country.

3) Dr.S.S.Metan, Prof.S.K.Khillare and Prof.S.S.Kale

have been acknowledged by TTL for their contribution

in DRE & Social Awareness in their CSR activities.

4) Dr.Shriniwas S Metan is appointed as a “Technical

Consultant” in Saurabh Flexipack System Ltd, Pune.

5) Mr.Riyyan Razvi and Mr.Shivam Pujari

receivedStudent of the Year Award along with

Scholarship worth amount Rs. 4000/- for their

outstanding achievement as an Engineering students in

the mobility field from the SAE Foundation India.

were deputed as a Public Relation Officer, Solapur by

Society of Mechanical & Automotive Engineers.

11) NEW INITIATIVES:

SAE India Chapter:

The Mechanical Engineeringstudentshave formed

SAEINDIA COLLEGIATE CLUB for the year 2017-18.

Activates Conducted through NKOCET SAEINDIA

COLLEGIATE CLUB are as follows.

1. Visit to ARAI

7th Oct 2017 Prof. D. D. Bhoge and Prof. A. K. Patil along

with 25 student of Mechanical Engg. Dept visited the

Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), Pune

for Automobile Engg. subject. Students had chance to see

different research and testing facilities available at ARAI.

Students visited various laboratories namely PTI, CAE,

NVH and Metallurgy and homologation. Student also

learned process of homologation and its importance.

2. Arranged 1 Day workshop on "Engine Design" to

SAEINIDA Student Members on 11 Nov 2017.Total 50

students were present for the workshop by Dr. K.C. Vora

Deputy Director ARAI Pune & Dr.B.K.Sonage.

3. Conducted 1 day workshop to FE student on Make your

hands dirty from 8thto10

thAug 2017. In which students

have undergone engine assembly and dissemble activity by

SAE India Students.

4. Prof.D.D.Bhoge and Dr.Shriniwas S Metan were part of

the ARAI sponsored World in Motion workshop conducted

in Shri Siddheshwar English Medium School, Solapur.

ranked 1stin the Avishkar Project Competition held at

SKN Sinhgad college of Engineering Pandharpur, on

In this academic year lot of thrust is given to industry tie

Uptill now 42 Students are placed and the placement

activity is still on going.

This academic year lot of focus was given on Industry

connect and Industry driven courses. Sessions of the

CEOs& Experts of Aqua Chill Systems, Saurabh

Flexipack Systems, 3D PLM and Thermax were

organized in line with the training and placement

opportunities.

19) NPTEL Course

During July- October 2017 NPTEL conducted various

online courses. 8 courses were selected for mechanical

engineering students.Students registered for different

online courses. For each course, two faculty members

were assigned as mentor for respective students. 12

faculties & 7students successfully passed the online

exam. 4 students & 4 faculties got the elite certificate

from NPTEL. Prof. Bhoge D. D. Was among the Top

5% performers throughout the country.

21) Parent Meet

First PTA meet for academic year 2017 – 2018 was held

in HOD office on 17th August 2018. HOD has briefed

about the activities & happenings in Mechanical

Engineering Department.Nine PTA members, Prof.

B.R.Birajdar and Dr.S.S. Metan were present for the

meeting.

There was at length discussion about the Training and

placement activity for improving the placement and co-

curricular activities conducted by the department. PTA

members were briefed about the courses conducted in

previous years, planning forthis year & importance of the

co-curricular courses. It was told that all these courses are

certification courses & in few cases there are tie ups with

professional agencies like Indo German Tool Room,

ARAI Pune, Thermax Pune, CNC, Solapur etc.
