ACME, as a professional association thatbrings together fashion design in Spain,supports with its activities and projects thesector’s status.

This year has filled us with pride and joy;the Premio Nacional de la Moda 2012 forour Honorary Associate, Manolo Blahnik,as well as the success of DELPOZO with itsdebut collection, the continuation of thegood work by Miguel Palacio for Hoss En-tropía and of Juanjo Oliva for El Corte In-glés and the recruitment of Carmen Marchas creative director of Pedro del Hierroadded to the opening in Madrid of the Ai-lanto store and the new location in NewYork of the Agatha Ruiz de la Prada shop.The attendance in the international run-

ways, Custo Barcelona in New York,Amaya Arzuaga in Paris and Elisa Palo-mino and Emilio Morena in London.

All of the above has been embossed in theexhibition. “La Moda es Sueño: 25 años detalento español”. Here we have shown thegood work carried out through over 30years, the same timespan about to be ac-complished by the relevant national runwayMBFW Madrid in which Spanish designerspresent their collections and build theirbrands.

• We have grown with the addition of sevenfashion creators: Emilio de la Morena, JorgeVázquez, Juana Martín, Rabaneda, MaríaBarros, Menchen Tomás and Maya Hansen,summing 45 fashion design brands. And wehave appointed Honorary Associates, MarioBoselli, president of the Camera Nazionaledella Moda Italiana and Elio Bernhayer.

• We have showcased the cultural values offashion creation in the exhibition: LAMODA ES SUEÑO: 25 años de talento es-pañol: historical designers, Pedro Rodri-guez, Pertegaz and Elio Bernhayer, majorinternational names of fashion from Spain,Balenciaga, Paco Rabanne and ManoloBlahnik, and the designers that since the80’s have constructed and consorted theSpanish fashion system with their brands.

• We have participated in the runwayMBFW Madrid in which our associatesshowcase their collections. And global run-ways where attended by Custo Barcelona inNew York, Elisa Palomino and Emilio de laMorena in London and Amaya Arzuaga inParis.

• We maintain our business relationshipwith Planeta and El Corte Inglés includingthe shop-in-shop CREADORES ESPAÑAto the on-line store.

• We reinforce the presence of the associa-tion and its associates in the education ofstudents of fashion design and communica-tion collaborating with the Fashion Insti-tute Technology (FIT) New York.

• We expand our institutional relations bybecoming involved in the Working FashionGroup of the European Commission regar-ding innovation in the European fashion in-dustry.

• We commit our corporate social responsi-bility supporting the work in the soup kit-chen of the Order of Malta.

All the above would not be possible withoutthe support of the Spanish institutions andour associates to whom we expressly wishto thank for their collaboration.

EMILIO DE LA MORENA After studying sculptureand economy, he carries outhis fashion studies at Cen-tral St. Martin’s and Lon-don College of Fashion.Then he worked with desig-ners such as Jonathan Saun-ders, creating his own label,winning the award New Ge-neration (sponsored by TopShop) four consecutivetimes. He has showcased hiscollection in London Fas-hion Week since 2005.

JORGE VÁZQUEZHe carries our design studiesin Madrid and USA. Afterworking with Inditex, Anto-nio Pernas, Angel Schlesser

and Fun & Basics he pre-sents his first collection atMercedes-Banz FashionWeek Madrid in 2002, alter-nating the presentation ofhis own creations with as-signments with brands suchas Síntesis and Loewe, colla-borating with the latter inthe design of the woman prêt-à-porter collection in 2006. Du-ring this year he creates his ownnew project JV by Jorge Vaz-quez inaugurating the firstflagship store of his new label in2012.

JUANA MARTÍNCommences her career in1999 after being chosen torepresent her province, Cór-doba, in the national con-test, Young Designers bySmirnoff. In 2005 she beco-mes the first woman fromAndalucia and of gipsy ori-gins that participates inMercedes-Benz FashionWeek Madrid. She presentsher lines of flamenco fas-hion, swimwear, bridal wearand prêt-à-porter in diffe-rent fashion weeks such as;MBFWM, SIMOF and Va-lencia Fashion Week.

RABANEDACarried out design studies inthe college Arte2 in Madridand 2010 he creates his firstcollection, obtaining theaward for Best Novel Desig-ner by Valencia FashionWeek. He begins his globalprojection collaboratingwith Disney and participa-ting in the fashion week ofthe Dominican Republic.He markets his collectionsat the trade shows that takeplace during the Semainedes Créateurs in Paris andpresents his collections du-ring the official calendar ofMercedes-Benz FashionWeek Madrid since 2010.

MARÍA BARROSStudied fashion design at IED in Milan, where she ac-complished her thesis under the direction of FrancaSozzani. With 21 years she achieves the Moët&Chan-don Young Fashion Award to the best young Europeandesigner. After working with Roberto Cavalli, ModestoLomba and Pupi Solari she creates her own label, pre-senting her collections in Pasarela Gaudí, Milán andMercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid where she hasbeen participating since 2009.

MENCHÉN TOMÁSAfter working separately for other labels they establis-hed their own brand in 1995, participating in PasarelaGaudí until 2001. Currently they market their collec-tions through their own points of sale and multibrandstores in Spain and abroad, accomplishing also couturemodels, made to measure.

New associates

MAYA HANSENCarried out her studies at theCentro Superior de Moda de Ma-drid. Wins the Porto FashionAward in the year 2000 and pre-sents her creations in PasarelaGaudí, after being awarded thesecond price in the national con-test, Young Designers by Smir-noff. Creates her own label in2004 and two years later shespecializes in the creation ofcorsets as outerwear. Presentsher collections in Mercedes-BenzFashion Week Madrid since2011. Finalist in Vogue awards,Who’s on Next 2012.

The Asociación de Creadores de Moda deEspaña appoints Honorary Associate toElio Bernhayer, The creator from Córdobareceived the award in the hands of the pre-sident of ACME, Modesto Lomba, Manydesigners from the association wished to ac-company Elio Bernhayer in this event, pa-ying thus homage to one of the mostrelevant creators of Spanish fashion afterover 60 years in the profession.

MARIO BOSELLI(24th April of 2012)

The Asociación de Creadores de Moda deEspaña appoints Honorary Associate toMario Boselli, president of the Camera Na-zionale della Moda Italiana and a relevantindustrialist in the textile sector. Under hismandate as president of the Camera,ACME endorses a collaboration agreementwith the highest entity representing Italianfashion. Modesto Lomba presented him theaward at a dinner attended by the membersof the board of directors of ACME.

GRAN CRUZ OF THE COMMUNITY OF MADRID(2nd May of 2012)

The president of the Community of Madridpresents the awards of the 2nd. of May, dueto the festivity of the region. The first pre-sident of ACME, Jesús del Pozo is one ofthe awardees in this edition being distin-guished with the Gran Cruz of the Commu-nity of Madrid posthumously.

DISSAPROVAL OF THE SPANISH OLYMPIC UNIFORM(May 2012)

The Asociación de Creadores de Moda deEspaña and the Federación Española deEmpresas de Confección (FEDECON) ex-pressed their disapproval regarding the uni-form of the Spanish Olympic team througha joint press release, after verifying that anItalo-Russian company was appointed toclothe the Olympic team.

AGREEMENT WITH THE COUN-CIL OF FASHION OF JALISCO (April 2012)

The Council for Fashion of Jalisco andACME unite to maximize the industry andcreation of fashion in Mexico and Spain.An agreement that endorses iberoamericanfashion placing values in innovation and de-sign. With this agreement the Asociación deCreadores de Moda de España becomes acollaborative and consultancy entity withinthe Council for Fashion of Jalisco, organi-zers of the runway Minerva Fashion.

COLLABORATION WITH MEXICO IS IN FASHION(6th September 2012)

ACME collaborates with the platform Me-xico is in Fashion intended to promote Me-xican design. With the occasion ofFashion’s Night Out, different fashion de-signers from Mexico showcased their propo-sals in various events in Madrid, attendedby the designers, Helena Rohner, JuanDuyos, Maya Hansen and Modesto Lomba.

MEETING WITH THE MINISTER OF CULTURE(13th September 2012)

The Minister for Education, Culture andSport, José Ignacio Wert, held a meetingwith the Spanish designers to address thedevelopment of the sector of fashion crea-tion in Spain. The President of the Associa-tion, Modesto Lomba, underlined the needto unite design and industry as a fundamen-tal base towards the globalization and sur-vival of Spanish fashion. Furthermore, themeeting was attended by, Enrique Loewe,the designers Roberto Torretta, Elio Bern-hayer, Juan Duyos, Victorio & Lucchino,Helena Rohner, Francis Montesinos andLucía Cordeiro, executive director ofACME.

ACME, IN THE EUROPEAN COMISSION IN BRUSSELS(20nd June, 2012)

The Asociación de Creadores de Moda deEspaña strengthens its presence in Brusselspartaking in the II Meeting of the InformalGroup of High Level, organized by AntonioTajani, vice-president of the EuropeanCommission and deputy for Industry, toge-ther with the main European fashion indus-tries. ACME was represented at the meetingby the secretary of the Board of Directors,Agatha Ruiz de la Prada.Lucía Cordeiro, Executive Director, partici-pates in representation of ACME in theWorking Fashion Group of the EuropeanCommission regarding innovation in thefashion industries in Europe.

COLLABORATION AGREEMENTWITH ACTM(9th July 2012)

ACME signs a collaboration agreementwith the Asociación Cluster de Textil deModa de Catalunya (ACTM) to boost com-mon projects in the field of fashion.

EUROPE CREATIVE(5th October 2012)

ACME participates in a seminar in Cuencaorganized by the Office of the EuropeanParliament in Spain, the MEPs SantiagoFisas and Emilio Menéndez, presented theproject “Europe Creative” the new aid pro-gram of the EP, in which for the first time,at the insistence of Spain, fashion is ackno-wledged as a cultural sector.

IBEROAMERICAN FORUM FORFASHION AND DESIGN(10-11th October 2012)

Modesto Lomba and the executive directorof ACME, Lucía Cordeiro, participated in IIberoamerican Forum for Fashion and De-sign held in Guadalajara (Mexico) on occa-sion of Minerva Fashion, one of the mainevents in Mexican fashion. Devota &Lomba, presented, in the international galaof the runway his spring summer 2013 co-llection.

FASHION FROM SPAIN, INTHE NEW BOOK OF THE DIPLOMACY SCHOOL(November 2012)

The Asociación de Creadores de Moda deEspaña, collaborates in the book of the co-llection Diplomacy School. “Challenges ofour foreign actions. Public Diplomacy andBrand Spain”. Modesto Lomba, signs anessay regarding the relationship betweenSpanish fashion and our country’s brand.

XV FORUM SPAIN-JAPAN (12-13th November 2012)

Modesto Lomba, president of ACME, parti-cipates in the XV Forum Spain-Japan, cele-brated in Seville, organized by theFundación Consejo España-Japón and theForeign Affairs Ministries of both coun-tries. This meeting serves as a prelude tothe Dual Year Spain-Japan, providing aspace for reflection to experts from differentfields with the aim of promoting networ-king between people and institutions inSpain and Japan.

ELECTIONS FOR THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS IN ACME(28th March 2012)

Modesto Lomba renews his office as president of ACME for the next two years duringwhich he will enjoy the company of Roberto Torretta as vice-president. Juan Duyos beco-mes the new bursar and Agatha Ruiz de la Prada will hold the position of secretary pre-viously performed by Jesús del Pozo, as Members of the Board maintained are, David Delfín andAlma Aguilar, with the addition of Helena Rohner to the Board of Directors as a Member .

DONATION TO THE MUSEODEL TRAJE(April 2012)

The designers of ACME donate to theMuseo del Traje, CIPE, Madrid, the crea-tions produced for the exhibition: “20 Mo-dels for Russia: Designers dialogue withliterature” organized by ICEX, the Mi-nistry of Culture, the Instituto Cervantesand ACME due to the Dual Year Spain-Russia. The models are exhibited in therunway section of the Museum.

GASTROFESTIVAL 2012 (24th and 27th January 2012)

Gastrofestival 2012, organized by the TownHall of Madrid in collaboration with Ma-drid Fusión, with the participation of thedesigners, Roberto Torretta and ModestoLomba, brining together fashion and gas-tronomy during diners held at the Museodel Traje.

BACK TO THE ROOTS, IN THEPRESENTATION OF THE 55TH

EDITION OF MBFWM(January 2012)

Esperanza Aguirre, president of the Communityof Madrid the 55th edition of the madrileño fas-hion week in the exhibition space, Alcalá 31,where displayed were a selection of models from“Back to the Roots”, the exhibit dedicated toSpanish fashion and its crafts, exhibited in theFundación Gabarrón in New York in October of2011.

II MEETING CRAFT AND LUXURY(26th October 2012)

The Asociación de Creadores de Moda deEspaña, collaborates in the II Meeting re-garding craft and luxury, which took placein Museo del Traje CIPE, Madrid. ModestoLomba, president of ACME, participated inone of the addresses of this meeting organi-zed by the Fundación Loewe which aims tohighlight quality craftwork, design and newluxury.

COLLOQUIUM ABOUT BILLCUNNINGHAM AT LA CASA ENCENDIDA (16th November 2012)

After the screening of the documentary“Bill Cunningham, New York”, which por-trays the seasoned photographer and pio-neer of coolhunting. Modesto Lombaparticipates in the colloquium togetherwith various fashion experts. Moderated byEugenia de la Torriente, fashion director ofEl Pais, and also intervened Gloria Jover,coolhunter, and Natalia Bengoechea, Fas-hion& Beauty Director of the magazineGrazia Spain.

A GLANCE AT SPANISH DESIGN(3rd October 2012)

Due to the new edition of the book: “Spa-nish Fashion, a history of dreams and reali-ties” the author and director of the on-linemagazine Asmoda, Josefina Figueras, orga-nizes the exhibition “A Glance at SpanishDesign” at El Corte Inglés, Castellana. Thepresentation of the event was attended bythe creators, Elio Bernhayer, Roberto To-rretta and Juanjo Oliva, and the executivedirector of ACME, Lucía Cordeiro.

LA MODA ES SUEÑO (25th October 2012- 13th January 2013)

The Museo Cerralbo in Madrid hosts, from 25th October until 13th January, the exhibi-tion LA MODA ES SUEÑO: 25 años de talento español”. Curated by Lucía Cordeiro andIsabel Vaquero, the exhibit is a journey through the best of Spanish design in the lastquarter of the century. Organized by the General Sub-direction for the Promotion of FineArts of the Secretary of State for Culture and the Museo Cerralbo, Madrid, the exhibitioncounts with the participation of ACME, the magazine Marie Claire and the sponsorship ofMANGO.

ACME COLLABORATES WITHTHE FESTIVAL SOY CIBELINO(21st-24th June 2012)

The Association collaborates with the firstedition of the “Festival Soy Cibelino”, anovel initiative in which fashion & musicunite, and in which young talents fromprestigious local and global fashion schools,such as ESNE, IED, Parsons and InstitutoMaragoni, come together. ACME is presentthrough out the Festival with a stand deco-rated by L.A. Studio. Visiting designersfrom the Association such as ModestoLomba, Juan Duyos, Jorge Vázquez, MaríaBarros and Rabaneda. The creators workedthe youth from the fashion school ESNE,who modelled their designs in this space.

SUMMER COURSES AT THE COMPLUTENSE IN EL ESCORIAL(20th July 2012)

Ana Locking participated as speaker duringthe summer courses of the ComplutenseUniversity. The designer offers a conferenceversing about fashion creators as artists wi-thin the cycle “Fashion in the Museum. SOLIDARITY APRONS(December 2012)

ACME collaborates with YO DONA in theproject “Solidarity Aprons” in whichtwelve associated designers have createdtwelve aprons with the aim of obtainingfunding for the soup kitchen for the Orderof Malta, Madrid.

As a result of the collaboration, Ana Loc-king, Juan Duyos, Juanjo Oliva, ModestoLomba, Lucía Cordeiro, executive directorof ACME, Linda Heras from Roberto Ve-rino and the Yo Dona team, assisted in oneof the meals offered in the dining room inMadrid, which daily provides food to 350persons in need.

FASHION WORKSHOP BYFRANCIS MONTESINOS(27th January 2012)

Francis Montesinos imparts a fashionworkshop to 30 women from the FundaciónJosé María Haro-INTRA from Sagunto.The workshop is the result of the agree-ment signed by ACME “La Caixa” BancaPrivada and Incorpora de la Obra Social“La Caixa”, with the objective of develo-ping amongst the Spanish fashion creatorscorporate social responsibility, supportingthose collectives at a disadvantage or in a si-tuation of vulnerability.
