Managing Committee Meetings
The Managing Committee of the Indian Institute of Welding, Baroda
Branch held meetings during the year 2015-16 on 20.06.2015,
17.07.2015, 04.08.2015, 10.09.2015, 29.09.2015, 06.10.2015,
29.10.2015, 18.12.2015, 23.01.2016, 27.02.2016, 02.04.2016 &
10.05.2016. All the structured meetings were formally conducted.
The decisions were taken unanimously during all these meetings. In
addition to this, the office bearers held various unscheduled
meetings to review various programs conducted by the branch
during the year 2015-16 th17 Foundation Day Seminar on “Emerging Trends in Welding”
thThe 17 branch foundation day seminar of IIW Baroda Branch was
conducted at Ahmedabad Management Association, Ahmedabad thon Saturday 10 October 2015. The theme of the seminar was
"Emerging Trends in Welding". It was started with introduction of
IIW and the purpose of seminar given by Master of Ceremony (MC)
Mrs. Vaishnavi Sangamnerkar (Welding Engineer, Inox India Pvt.
Ltd.). Mr. D. V. Acharya, Chairman, Baroda Branch in his welcome
address, elaborated on the activities of Baroda Branch and
appreciated efforts by all, in organizing the seminar. He welcomed
the Chief Guest, Supporters & all participants. Mr. Praveen Virmani,
Convener of the Seminar, briefed all participants about the relevance
of theme in present context & technical papers to be presented thduring the seminar. A cake was cut by the dignitaries to celebrate 17
Foundation Day of the Branch.
The first lecture was delivered by the Chief Guest Mr. D.R. Patel on
"Welding forges into the future". He wonderfully explained the growth
rate of welding technologies. He also threw light on the new
technologies such as Hybrid welding, Laser welding, Direct Metal
Laser Sintering, Friction Stir welding etc. He emphasized on the role
of women in welding practices. He congratulated Baroda branch for rdreceiving best branch award consecutively for 3 time.
The meet was attended by 80 delegates. Following papers were
presented by different lecture faculties in three sessions.

Fronius Ltd.
Demo of AURA Welding Simulator was conducted by Skillveri Pvt.
Ltd team during Lunch period for Practice of Welding simulator. They
explained, how it can be beneficial to industries, universities etc.
Indeed, the session was knowledgeable and inspired all to have a
vision for the future of welding. The feedback given by the
participants at the end was very encouraging. The overall level of
satisfaction was very good.
At the end of seminar, Mr. Rajesh Madnani (Hon. Secretary of IIW
Baroda Branch) proposed vote of thanks to all supported for the
event and completed the session.
It was very good knowledge sharing occasion between memebers of
different industries & institutions at Thermax C&H division.
Industrial Visit
Industrial Visit at M/s Thermax Limitd, C&H Division, Savli,
Vadodara
IIW Baroda Branch Members from various industries and institutions
visited Thermax Ltd. (Cooling and Heating division) for exchange
and upgradation of technical knowledge in their Special Boiler
making facility as a part of Annual activities of IIW Baroda Branch. 27
members participated in this visit and it was very good knowledge
sharing occasion between members from different industries at
Thermax C & H division.
Visit started with introduction of safety at workplace by safety in-
charge and about Thermax by Quality Head. All participants
introduced themselves to Thermax team. Visit was useful &
informative for all participants to know about
- Auto GMAW STT (Surface Tension Transfer) Method for
Tube to Tube welding in Coil shop with fixture
- A unique facility of coil bending 100 m long pipes (5 pipes
together) on tailor made facility
- Extensive use of FCAW process for better productivity,
Quality & cost effectiveness in most areas
- Tailor made fixture for heavy boiler shell to turn from
horizontal to vertical
- Radiography enclosure in each shop to avoid any effect on
regular production work
- Unique facility for corrugated shell manufacturing at hot
working temperature.
- PEMA welding machine with six parallel SAW head for
membrane wall panel welding.
- Various bending facility for bend pipes, coils & vertical
bending machine to bend panels.
Manufacturing concept to make innovative compact boilers was
explained to all participants by Thermax team to meet competitive
market requirements.On behalf of Baroda Branch, vote of thanks was
given by Mr. D.C Mehta to Thermax Team and Introduction of IIW
upcoming events by Mr. Gautam Gohil
IIW Baroda Branch is very much thankful to Thermax Management
(Mr. Rahul Joshi – Plant Head, Mr. Hemant Thorat – Quality Head, Mr.
Rajesh Madnani – Welding Head, Mr. Kuldip Gor – Welding
Engineer) for providing opportunity to see plant facilities as well as
for nice arrangements & hospitality.
Training & Certification Workshops
Technical Program on Pressure Vessels (6 Days Course)th thThe pressure vessel workshop was conducted from 8 to 11 March
th th& then 14 to 15 Mar 2016 at M/s Parul Institute of Technology,
Vadodara by IIW Baroda Branch. Mr. R. R. Vishwakarma was
convener of this program. Total 27 Students (Final Year Mechanical
Engineering) attended 30 technical sessions (18 Lectures & 12
Practical Session) to complete the course.
In 6 days, there were technical sessions on various topics covering expectation of industries, weld symbols, welding processes, Destructive & Non Destructive testing, design of pressure vessel incl. ASME Sec. VIII Div.1, pressure vessel manufacturing sequence, WPS / PQR, Weld defect control, materials & weldability etc. There were two industrial visits (one at L&T Heavy Engineering Workshop at Ranoli, & other at M/s Met Heat Engineers Pvt. Ltd) along with one destructive test & one NDT Lab demonstration. This workshop could be made possible with the help of following faculties i.e. Mr. D. V. Acharya, Mr. R. R. Vishwakarma, Mr. Gautam Gohil, Mr. Snehal Patel, Mr. Krutik Shah, Mr. R Khadatkar, Mr. Manan Shah & Ms. Vaishnavi

Baroda branch is thankful to M/s L&T VHEW for permitting plant visit during program & M/s Met Heat for arranging samples for destructive tests & lab visit during testing.

Welding Inspector Course (WIC)
1st Welding Inspector Course (WIC) was organised from 9th to 13th September 2015 at Hotel Suba Elite, Vadodara. The Convener of Program was Mr. Gautam Gohil, Joint Secretery, Baroda Branch. Overall Program was very smooth in terms of organization, registration, interaction, examination, field Visit etc. Written, viva and group examination were conducted on last day.
Total 12 Delegates from various industries participated, out of which 09 participants were declared successful and Certificates were issued to them. Mr. Gautam Gohil was Convener & Mr. Snehal Patel was Co-convener of this program. The program was successfully executed by various IIW Faculties for lectures and examined by Mr. R R Chari, Mr. B. S. Kandpal & Mr. Rajesh Madnani.
nd2nd Welding Inspector Course (WIC) was organized from 22 to th26 January 2016 at Hotel Suba Elite, Vadodara. The Convener of
Program was Mr. Gautam Gohil, Joint Secretery, Baroda Branch
Total 18 candidates from various industries like TEMA India, TBEA, L&T, Rishi Laser, Sri Ram Engineers, Valcon Industries, Sodecia India, R K Fabricator, Energy machines, Invec Cast attended this course. The course was a success in terms of its contents, candidates' satisfaction, interactive group discussion, field visit followed by a written and oral examination. 17 out of 18 delegates were declared successful. The response to this course every year establishes profound interest of young engineers in welding field. Certificate of attendance was distributed to all participants in presence of Mr. R R Chari (Past Chairman), Mr. B. S. Kandpal (Vice Chairman), Mr. Rajesh Madnani (Secretary) & Gautam Gohil (Program Convener). IIW Baroda Branch thanks all lecturers, examiners & supporters for their contribution for the success of this program. Branch is also thankful to Mr. Prashant Barodia for giving advertisement in brochure (M/s Barodia technical Institute) and to Mr. Pravin Virmani for providing support during registration process of delegates. Course participants were recommended/advised to become member of IIW to get to know about activities happening in the welding field and enrich their knowledge in the subject by getting periodic welding journals and stay updated.
WPS/PQR Workshopth thThe workshop on WPS-PQR was conducted from 13 to 14
February 2016 at Hotel Suba Elite, Vadodara. Kashyap Bhatt was
Convener of the program. Total 15 candidates from various
organizations participated in this workshop. The workshop was
well supported by Mr. Snehal Patel, Mr. Kashyap Bhatt, Mr. Manan
Shah, Mr. Chintan Gohil and Mr. Jayesh Patel. In feedback, all the
participants informed that the workshop was highly helpful to
them. Everybody appreciated the faculties, workshop content &
other arrangements.
IWE / IWT Certification Program
IWE/IWT Certification Program through transition route was held th thon 30 June to 4 July 2015 at Hotel Pippermint, Vadodara. 12
participants attended the program. All participants were
successful in their category. Mr. Pravin Virmani was the convener
for this program.
Technical Lectures
Program on “Welding as a Career for Female Engineers” : A
Technical Program was organized to encourage female engineers thin the field of welding on 11 July 2015 at ITM Universe, Jarod –
Vadodara. Speakers for the program were Ms. Megha Desai
(L&T) & Ms. Vaishnavi Sangamnerker (Inox India). Around 30 girls
students along with faculties participated in the program.

Promotional Activities (Promoting Welding Science & Technology)
Baroda Branch Best Welder & Best Welding Engineer Competition
Best Welder competition was conducted by IIW Baroda Branch on th24 October 2015 at M/s Anuptech Technical & Trade
Accreditation Institute, B.I.D.C, Gorwa, Vadodara to select best welders for each category. 9 Welders were nominated & participated in this competition from various industries in Gujarat. IIW Baroda Branch is very thankful to Mr. Kutty& M/s Anuptech for providing facility & test material, all our panel members i.e. Mr. Jayesh Patel, Mr. Hardik Patel, Mr. Ashit Shah for their valuable time & support, Coordinators Mr. Gautam Gohil & Mr. Hansadatt for their best co-ordination. IIW Baroda Branch nominated below welders for National Skill Competition for Best Welder-2015 to be organized at Mumbai.

Best Welding Engineer competition was conducted online & 7 welding engineers got cleared initial examination from Baroda Branch. Welding Engineer from Baroda Branch, Mr. Hrushikesh Sangamnerker (L&T, VHEW, Ranoli Works) won competition & declared Best Welding Engineer at National Level.

Skill Develoment Initiative - Welding Training Lectures & Examination :
As a part of skill development initiative, welding training lectures & examination was conducted by IIW Baroda Branch Members at M/s SEDI of Ambuja Cement, Ambujanagar, Kodinar, Gujarat on
th nd nd rd rd th28 May 2015, 2 July 2015, 22 & 23 August 2015, 3 & 4 November. The welding training lecture were on topics such as MIG, TIG, WPS-PQR, Safety in Welding, Weld Edge Preparation etc. Theory, practice & oral examination was conducted by Mr. Gautam Gohil & Mr. Pinkesh Gandhi. 28 Candidates appeared for this welder course & 25 successfully passed the examiantion.
IIW Baroda Branch Founder Chairman & Managing Committee Member, Prof. S. K. Agrawal, had meeting with Dr. Sandhya Bhullar (IAS) Director, Directorate of Employement & Training & Ex-Officio, Managing Director of Gujarat Skill Devlopement Mission. Govt is interested to have short term bridge courses & specialized skill development centres. Matter had been conveyed to Mr. R. Banerjee, CEO, ANB-India to take it further.
ANB / ANBCC Activities in Region :
First Surveillance Audit for ISO 3834-2 was conducted by Mr. Swapnal Ghosal at Inox India Pvt. Ltd., Kandla Facility and it was announced to continue Certification of this Facility.
Mr. Kashyap Bhatt attended ANB-ANBCC Assessor training program organized at Kolkata from 30-Nov to 1-Dec-2015
Branch Nomination for National Council Committee for year 2015-16:
Baroda Branch Management Committee members nominated Mr. D. V. Acharya & Mr. B. S. Kandpal for the year 2015-16. It was discussed to induct Ms. Vaishnavi Sangamnerker in National Council.
National Meetings :
Baroda Branch Secretary, Mr. Rajesh Madnani & Treasurer, Mr. Jayesh Patel attended National Strategy meeting on "National
thAccounting System" on 25 Sept 2015 at Kolkata. Various Financial & Accounting guidelines were provided by head office. They also
th thattended 49 AGM of IIW India (26 Sept 2015) representing Baroda Branch.
Prof. S. K. Agrawal, Mr. D. V. Acharya & Mr. D. C. Mehta went to ndattend Golden Jubilee Celeberation Day on 22 April 2016 at
Kolkata with their own expenses.th296 National Council Meeting at Baroda :
thBaroda Branch hosted 296th National Council Meeting on 25 July 2015. President, Hon. Secretary General, Other office bearers, representative of various branches along with other National Council Member attended the meeting. Council members were happy with the arrangements made for the meeting.
Industrial Corporate Members (ICMs) along with potential thcorporate members were called at 7.30 pm on 25 July to interact
with our National Council Members.
AMIIW Examination :
Baroda Branch has been the center of AMIIW Examination from the very beginning. This year 9 candidates appeared during Summer session (June'16) & 7 Candiddates appeared during winter session (Dec'16). Mr. M. N. Patel from Faculty of Technology & Engg., M. S. University was centre in charge for both sessions.
Membeship Drive : IIW Braoda Branch have increased their membership strength with special efforts being put up by all Management committee members by visiting various institutions & industries for IIW membership. Dr. Vishvesh Badheka visited Gujarat Technological University, Chandikheda, Ahmedabad for IIW promotion

Activities Proposed for the year 2016-17IIW Braoda Branch intends to continue organizing courses on WPS-PQR, Welding Inspector Course, Technical Lectures by experts in the field of welding, Industrial visits, Seminars & other training programs for the benefits of the members & industries. The branch would also wish to conduct in house training programs for various industrial houses.

Various activities conducted by IIW Baroda Branch could not have been successfully accomplished without the active involvement of all the management committee members including co-opted members. Without any exception, each & every member rose to the occasion and fulfilled the expectations of the branch. Branch Management committee is an opt example of team spirit which was exhibited in each & every activity of the branch whereby the success could not be denied. IIW Baroda Branch is a balanced mix of representatives from fabrication industries, industrial plants, educational insti tutes, research insti tutes, equipment manufacturers & consumable manufacturers.
It is indeed a great pleasure in sharing this glorious moment of IIW Baroda Branch with all of you. IIW Baroda Branch has received Best Performing Branch Award “Minati Bhattacharya Award” for the year 2014-15 consecutively for 3rd time. The award was presented to Baroda Branch members during NWS 2015 held at Mumbai.

1. We have audited the attached Balance Sheet of Indian Institute of
Welding, Baroda Branch as at 31st March, 2016. These financial
statements are the responsibility of the management. Our
responsibility is to express an opinion on these financial
statements based on our audit.
2. We conducted our audit in accordance with auditing standards
generally accepted in India. Those standards require that we plan
and perform the audit to obtain reasonable assurance about
whether the f inancial statements are free of material
misstatements. An audit includes examining, on a test basis,
evidence supporting the amounts and disclosures in the financial
statements. An audit also includes assessing the accounting
principles used and significant estimates made by the
management, as well as evaluating the overall financial statement
presentation. We believe that our audit provides a reasonable
basis for our opinion.
3. In our opinion and to the best of our information and according to
the explanations given to us, give a true and fair view in conformity
with the accounting principles generally accepted in India.
(i) In the case of Balance Sheet, of the state of affairs of the
Branch of the Institute as at 31st March, 2016.
(ii) In the case of Income & Expenditure A/c of the Surplus of the
Branch of the Institute for the year ended on that date.

Notes on Accounts and Accounting Policies
1. Method of Accounting The Institute follows Mercantile System of accounting in
preparation of its financial accounts.
2. Depreciation The method of computing depreciation is written down
value method.
3. Cash Cash on hand as on the date of Balance Sheet is verified by
the management and accepted by the auditors.
4. Accounting Standards The accounts of the Institute are prepared considering the
applicable accounting standard issued from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India to extent applicable.
