1. Preamble

1.1 About the Institute

The National Institute of Technology, Arunachal Pradesh (NIT, AP) wasestablished by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government ofIndia in 2010. It is now located at a temporary location at Yupia, DistrictPapumpare, Arunachal Pradesh. Currently it runs three 4-years B.Techprogrammes in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics andCommunication Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Ph. Dprogramme in computer Science and Engineering is started in 2012-13.

1.2. From the Desk of the Director

“Our duty is to “Our duty is to encourage everyone intheir struggles to live up to their own higher ideals andstrive at the same time to make the ideal as near aspossible to the truth.”~ Swami Vivekananda.

The real and crucial difference between thedeveloped and the developing is nothing but theapplication of science and technology. India isnow a rapidly transforming country, the successof which depends on how the countrygenerates improved human resources in thefield of science and technology. In the process,the establishment of this National Institute ofTechnology in Arunachal Pradesh is indeed achallenging prospect with high hopes and bigaspirations. A progressive and positivemomentum is imparted by the targeted Visionand Mission of the National Institute ofTechnology that are:

MISSION (As adopted by the Academic Council/Senate):

Our mission is that of producing such Technical Engineers who will notrun after jobs but for whom jobs will run after them, and such that theywill create employment and develop new technologies for faster,sustainable and inclusive growth.

To realize the goals of our Vision and Mission, the NIT ArunachalPradesh has framed a strategic and progressive Academic plan for thenext 10 years which can be seen at our website. This speaks of thedetermination and sound temperament of the members of faculty andstaff of the Institute. It is planned to make this NIT a global leader andearn global accolades.

Culturally and environmentally this place is so rich so as to facilitate theNIT to become a fusion of scholastic students, academically bright andcredible members of the faculty, innovative researchers and visionaryleaders in India’s “Land of the Rising Sun.”

By no stretch of imagination, therefore can it be said that NIT,Arunachal Pradesh is second to any other institute in its fields ofdevelopment and momentum built by now.

2.2 Adoption of Logo

The logo of National Institute of Technology, Arunachal Pradesh was adopted andis given on the front and back cover pages of this Report. It has the picture ofrising sun for academics, the Hornbill symbolizes fauna and flora of the state ofArunachal Pradesh being green and environment friendly. The Institute isgrowing with a high standard of education leading to research with the aim toserve the society maintaining ethics.

2.3 Launching of Website

The NIT (AP) website was launched under the domain name www.nitap.in.

3. Academics

3.1 Special Lecture series organized / Academic programmeconducted during this period:

3.2 Books and Journals procured during this period:

Before 01.11.2011 there were about 3000 text books in the library and additional5736 text books were procured during this period. Besides books 15 journals suchas IEEE Communication Magazine; IETE Technical Review; Journal of Scientificand Industrial Research; Journal of Intellectual Property Rights; Indian Journal ofRadio and space physic, CSI communication: Indian Journal of Engineering andMaterials Science etc have been added to library to enhance the academics in theinstitute.

3.4 B.Tech Syllabus & Course Curriculum

Before 01.11.2011, there was not having any approved syllabus & course curriculum forprogramme being run. The boards of studies and the Academic Council took sincereeffort to finalize the syllabus that got final approval from BOG. The full syllabus andcourse curriculum is uploaded on the NIT website “nitap.in”.

A few comments received on the designed curriculum from DistinguishedProfessor are as below :-

(i) “Good Coverage. I hope the engineering physics lays good stress onMaxell’a Equations so basic to wireless communication that has becomequite ubiquitous” – Prof. (Dr.) M V Pitke, Former Professor, Tata Instituteof Fundamental Research, Mumbai, India.

(ii) “I Congratulate with you for the excellent results of your work giving riseto the start-up and the consolidation of the NIT in Arunachal Pradesh” –Prof. (Dr.) Francesco Masulli, Associate Professor of Computer Science,DISi – Dept. of Computer Science & Information Science, University ofGenova – Via Dodecaneso 35, 16146, Genoa, Italy.

Salient and unique feature of the approved syllabus are:-

(i) Humanity and Social Sciences(ii) Entrepreneurship Practices(iii) Audit Courses : French, German(iv) Design Contest(v) Research Paper Communication(vi) Open Electives (Any students of any branch can choose any elective

offered by any departments.(vii) NSS / NCC

4. Innovative Practices

4.1 Clean and Green Power Sources Installed

(i) To meet out the problem of frequent failure of power supply a 65 kVAgreen diesel generator set has been installed in the academic building ofthe institute during this period.

(ii) 100 kW solar power station has been sanctioned by the Ministry ofNew-able Energy Sources Government of India during this period.

4.2 Less Paper Office

Most of office circular / orders / letters are communicated from Director down theline to workman through E-mail. The institute is also making most ofcommunications to MHRD / out side experts / BOG Chairman through E-mail.

4.3 06 days a week

After the joining of the present Director, NIT, A.P. on 01.11.2011 the institute isfollowing 06 days a week working pattern with a cumulative leave of a week atthe end of the month.

B. Developmental Growth Plan8.2 Constructions undertaken during this period:

Following constructions were done at the Permanent Site, Jote.

1. 301 Acers of Land was taken in to position and demarcation has beencompleted by constructing Pillars around the boundary.

2. Forest/ Jungle Clearance work has been done.3. A wooden Bridge with concrete Pillars has been constructed over a stream

between the proposed Land and the approach highway.

4. Entry Gate cum Foundation stone laying ceremony of NIT,AP has beenconstructed.

5. Further construction works is held up due to want of Fund.
