2.5 Feedback from KVK to Research System Name of KVK Feedback

Sambalpur More research should be done in Rice for case of organic inputs & yield enhancement

Sambalpur More research should be done on pre-emergence herbicide for control of mutha&duba grass

Sambalpur More trial should be done on micro-nutrient case in oilseed & cereals

Sambalpur Trial should be done for developing YMV resistant variety of Greengram

Sambalpur Research should be done on the management aspects of larger water bodies to enhance productivity

Sambalpur Residual toxicity level of ethrel treated ripened mango is to be tested

Sambalpur Research to be conducted on papaya leaf curl virus tolerance varieties

Sambalpur Research to be conducted for developing IPM measures for complete control of fruit & shoot borer in brinjal

Sambalpur Chemicals like Spinosad / Indoxacarb / Cartap Hydrochloride is available in the market so research should be carried out to know the efficiency and Cost: Benefit ratio for the above pesticides.

Sambalpur Research should be done for seed treatment as well as seedling treatment with suitable chemical for controlling leaf curl virus in tomato.

Sambalpur AlthoughFlubendiamide is a good new molecule for control of pod borer in Pigeon Pea, but research work should be done for bio-pesticide in combination with the above pesticide for increasing the net profit.

4.2. Feedback from KVK to Research System. Name of KVK Feedback basic of OFT on Technology Tested

Sambalpur Non availability of hybrid seeds in time

Sambalpur PSB & Rhizobium culture should be available in market

Sambalpur Herbicides use is economical as compared to manual weeding

Sambalpur Non availability of oilseed & pulse seeds in time

Name : Sri Ayuskant Barpanda Age : 36 years Village : Dangarpada Block : Jujumora Dist : Sambalpur

Introduction :Sri Ayuskant Barpanda is a progressive farmer of village Dangarpada of Jujumora block in Sambalpur district. He has completed his

higher secondary education. During his higher secondary study he was interested for practicing Agriculture and allied sector. At first he started Rice

cultivation soon after he completed his studies.

The village Dangarpada is a rainfed area and farmers usually grow Rice in Kharif season. Although there is the availability small water source

(Nalla) nearby the village in Rabi season due to the ignorance, the farmers are less interested for cultivation of other crop such as pulses, vegetables or

fruit cultivation. Farmers used to grow only one or two vegetable like Brinjal and Pointed gourd in a very limited area in Rabi season. The allied sector

of agriculture like pisciculture, dairy and poultry was totally unknown to the villagers.

KVK Intervention : During the year 2010-11 the village Dangarpada was adopted by KVK and since then KVK scientist conducted various training

programme, Front Line Demonstration and On Farm Testing. During the programme Mr. Barpanda was involved along with the farmers. In the

programme active participation of Mr. Barpanda was observed. Initially the programme was focused on Rice cultivation then after demonstrations and

testing were done on enterprise like pisciculture, poultry farming, scientific cultivation of Oilseed and Pulses, growing of orchard, off-season vegetable

cultivation. During the process he was also linked with the department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Fishery etc. of the district. This favoured Mr.

Barpanda to avail the ongoing subsidy on different schemes provided by various departments. Various convergence programmes were also conducted

by ATMA, KVK and other line department in his field. Due to his interest towards agriculture & allied sector and by the hard work of scientist of KVK,

a good result has come up. Now he is cultivating 20.5 acres of land by taking lease of 15 acres of land. Out of 20.5 acres of land, he is cultivating Rice in

13 acres of land, banana in 1 acre of land, Pisciculture in 1.5 acre of land, vegetable cultivation in 4.5 acre of land and pulse crop like Greengram in 0.5

acre of land. He also started a poultry farm having a capacity of 12000 birds per annum. The details of the activities, annual income and expenditure

statement is given below.

Impact:

Now Mr. Barpanda is a role model for farming community of the block as well as the district. By seeing the achievement of Mr. Barpanda many

farmers are adopting agril. and allied sector as enterprises and thus the area of vegetables, fruits, pulse crop, oilseed crop has increased substantially in

the village Dangarpada and its nearby villages. In Rabi vegetables like cole crop, pointed gourd, chilli and pulse like Greengram, Blackgram, Pegeon

Pea is being grown by the farmers and good profit is being generated. The rural youth involved in agril. and allied sector of the district is very much

attracted to his farming system and getting constant encouragement for themselves. Many farmers inside and outside of the district are visiting to his

farm and getting knowledge and benefit of Integrated Farming System. Mr. Barpanda also encourages the farmers for scientific cultivation and for

generating good profit. Above all Mr. Barpanda has been a distinctive & respectable person and a source of encouragement for the farming community

of the district.
