CEO’s STATEMENT
In a year of a strong operational and financial performance we have kept our focus intact on the safety of our people and the sustainability of the environment we operate in.
Through our commitment to the fundamental pillar of our operation Health, Safety and Environment, we continuously work on improving our practices, system and procedures in light of advances in technology and new developments in Safety, Health and Environment services. We will not only comply to our customers and prevailing regulatory requirements, we will lead and contribute to a safer and environmentally sustainable oil and gas industry.
All injuries and occupational health impact, as well as damage to the environment are preventable. We have set a goal of ZERO for both.
This starts with ZERO tolerance and 100 % transparency to which we are committed, and the higher man hours achieved without injuries or environmental accident, the higher focus we will have to continuously work towards a ZERO harm to people and environment.
For this commitment to be converted to desired achievement, it has to be universal and prime in every stakeholder in our organization.
In 2017 our focus will be on the competency of our employees, the strengthening of our policies and processes, and the continuous investment in Technology that helps us achieve our HSE targets.

INTRODUCTION This report reviews the annual HSE performance of EMDAD group for the year 2016. Performance data included in this report has been collected from each Emdad Group Company and combined to reflect Emdad’s overall performance. This report also gives a clear and sound overview in which way EMDAD and its group watches over the Health & Safety of every person and who is involved in their activities and cares for the environment.

Emdad has maintained a remarkable safety performance record over the past years. The company’s lost time injury frequency rate compares very favorable with other international and local oil and gas producing companies. . During the year 2016 Total 983725 man hours worked by EMDAD is with no loss time injury.

EMDAD HSE HIGHLIGHTS 2016
HSE TRAININGS
Emdad conducts a range of training courses to develop the skills and careers of their employees. Regular HSE trainings play a critical role in accident prevention and increase the awareness of the employees in the HSE Management System. In order to make the employees aware of the HSE aspects, we are generating a HSEQ training plan for every employee and coordinating with Training Centers to complete these plans successfully. At Emdad, we also ensure regular in-house trainings for all our employees.Trainings is one of the measures that takes top priority in the company. In 2016, Emdad conducted over 5000 man hours of HSE training which includes in-house and 3rd party trainings.

HSE CAMPAIGNS:
HSE campaigns aim to raise awareness on issues related to Health, Safety & Environment, provide information, practical advice and encourage activities that have positive impact in the work place.
EARTH HOUR
EMDAD participated in the Earth Hour 2016 which was held on Saturday, March 19th, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Objective of the campaign was to raise awareness about the need to take action on climate change, All non- essential lights were switched off at all site camps and in EMDAD base. At site camps, during the earth hour, few activities were conducted to raise the awareness among employees and to show commitment towards Mother Earth.

Every year, on 31 May, WHO and partners mark World No Tobacco Day (WNTD), highlighting the health risks associated with tobacco use

and advocating for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption.
On 31st May 2016 , Emdad’s HSE department circulated information of WHO’s initiatives on Tobacco Control “measures to restrict or prohibit the use of logos, colours, brand images or promotional information on packaging other than brand names and product names displayed in a standard colour and font style (plain packaging).
Also messages detailing the harmful effects of tobacco usage as circulated with an aim to encourage and help those who want to quit smoking and support on their quit journey.
RUN FOR A HEALTHY LIFE CAMPAIGN EMDAD’s HSE department organized a 5 KM marathon on 5th Jan 2016 at ASAB CP site by involving employees of CP construction, monitoring and CP division management. This event was conducted on a winter evening. Slogan selected for the event was “RUN FOR A HEALTHY LIFE” and the main objective of the campaign was to promote health awareness among employees. Total 40 employees participated in the event. ADCO team, Emdad division leads also participated actively in the event. Event was organized by Mr. Michael (Sr.HSEO) supported by Mr.Nadeem (HSEO). Special thanks to Project and division managers for supporting this event and making this a grand success. The price winners and participants were awarded with trophies and gold coins.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
As part of Emdad’s efforts and commitment to employees health and overall wellbeing, HSE department arranged breast cancer awareness session at various offices for Emdad’s lady women employees. Sessions were arranged with the support of LLH hospital. Dr. Imrana & Dr. Poppy Hazarika - specialist Gynecologists from LLH delivered sessions to generate awareness about the importance of regular breast screening as a key preventive measure against breast cancer.
WORLD DIABETES DAY
EMDAD participated in WORLD DIABETES DAY on 11th November 2016. a day to spread the awareness of diabetes among all employees. Emdad employees participate in this campaign by following a diet free of refined sugar and by avoiding taking food items which has high sugar contents.

SUMMER SAFETY CAMPAIGN EMDAD conducted summer safety campaign covering all the project sites for safe summer months and to avoid problems associated to summer for the employees working outdoors. Leaflet explaining the easy steps to stay safe during summer was distributed to all employees. Apart from the in-house campaign, EMDAD participated in campaigns conducted by the clients at various sites.
WASTE MANAGEMENT CAMPAIGNS
EMDAD conducted Waste Management campaign with an aim to raise awareness to reduce waste by implementing 3 Rs “ Reduce, Reuse & Recycle”. Training Sessions were conducted at Emdad offices. During the session Waste management guidelines and Waste reduction target stipulated by CWM & Tadweer were also conveyed to all TMs.

Desert Clean up: Emdad employees had participated in clean up campaigns at various sites organized by clients.
HSE INSPECTIONS
Emdad believes that regular workplace/ equipment inspections are an important part of the overall occupational health and safety program. In order to ensure safety, various Third party and in-house HSE inspections were carried our throughout the year to guarantee equipments, machines, safety gears, work place/facilities are safe and are in compliance to local and clients rules and regulations.
Client approved 3rd party companies were engaged to inspect and certify equipments, lifting gears etc. All inspections are conducted based on the yearly inspection plan.

LEARNING FROM INCIDENTS
When a company has a mature safety culture, employees are more likely to recognize and act upon hazardous work conditions posing a threat to themselves and to their coworkers. To advance our safety culture, we have increased focus on key programs to drive safer behaviors and encourage sharing of lessons learned. All Lessons Learned were communicated as power point presentation with pictures, highlighting causes and specific learning.
EMERGENCY DRILL Emergency drills were conducted at various site locations with an objective to train employees on how to respond to real situations. Emdad’s HSE team always ensure that various emergency scenarios are considered and drills are conducted as per the yearly plan.

HSE/RISK MANAGEMENT
Over the years, EMDAD has steadily maintained the balance between accomplishing core business objectives and mitigating potential adverse impacts on surrounding communities and the environment. EMDAD places great emphasis on HSE risk management at every stage of its operations. As a result, various hazard & risk studies are conducted for projects and services provided by Emdad.

Task Based Risk Assessment for all activities. Environmental Aspect Impact Identification for all projects/activities.
NEAR MISS/OBSERVATION TRACKING SYSTEM:
A Near Miss tracking system identifies and registers all Near misses reported by employees. This action tracking register highlights the areas which need focus and identifies opportunities for improvement. It also aids in monitoring and tracking all corrective actions required and if they have been implemented.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH EMDAD values the health of all the employees, and continuously monitors conditions at the work sites to ensure that employees and contractors are not subjected to conditions that could lead to adverse health effects. These include health and hygiene inspections, medical checks, health risk assessments, noise assessments, general health awareness promotions and other specifically targeted studies and training programmes.
• Noise survey: To identify the areas of high noise and put mitigation measures in place to ensure protection of personnel working in these areas.
• Air quality monitoring: To confirm the absence of hazardous chemicals in the work environment.
• Potable water monitoring: To ensure that potable water is fit for human consumption according to ADCO guidelines.
• Medical checkups: To evaluate the fitness of employees at regular intervals.. Noise, Air Quality, Temperature etc are also monitored on regular basis to ensure the work place is safe & healthy.

HSE AWARDS
Emdad always strives for improving employees’ morale and wants to improve its employees’ motivation. QHSE award scheme is developed in order to promote the QHSE performance at EMDAD and reward deserving individuals. The principle at the base of this document is the development and implementation of participative initiatives, rewards programme and communication that portray the positive aspects of QHSE performance.

Upon identifying the various kinds of awards, selected employees’ will be provided with cash award or gifts worth the cash and a certificate signed by CEO shall be issued by the QHSE department. Certificates will be provided to employees during safety/welfare meetings.
HSE MANAGEMENT MEETING In order to review the performance of HSEMS of various divisions, meetings are conducted on quarterly basis in the presence of Chairman, CEO and all division mangers. Results of analysis of Proactive and reactive indicators of each department and all other HSE critical items are discussed. Suggestions for HSEMS improvements, Critical areas to focus in the next quarter etc are identified during the session.
ADCO VISIT
In the last quarter of 2016, ADCO prequalification & HSE team visited our office to have an interactive session with Emdad’s top management with an aim to communicate ADCO’s latest rules and guidelines related to prequalification , HSE & welfare requirements. Detailed presentation was delivered by the team to Emdad’s top management. I thank ADCO for this initiative which will surely help in having a clear understanding of the requirements and transparent communication between company and contractors.

LABOUR WELFARE •
We are committed to labour welfare rights in our business operation to protect Emdad’s strong reputation in the oil and gas industry. At Emdad, we are aware that Welfare requirements are an essential part of the labour’s legal rights and are a contributing factor in reducing possible harm and accidents to the workforce and potential unrest among labours. Emdad has take few important steps to improve labour welfare and are as follows:
As part of summer safety initiatives, workers were provided with Laban & Cool drinks throughout the summer months to help them cope with the heat. Labour welfare committees have been established in Emdad to discuss labour concerns and agree on action plans. Regular meetings are conducted with the welfare committee members. Camp inspection by corporate HSE & HR team at regular intervals.

LONG SERVICE AWARDS
A ceremony was held on 8th November 2016 at Emdad’s ADIPEC stall to honor long serving & loyal employees, who have completed more than five years of service and contributed to the growth and success of the company. Emdad’s CEO Mr.Aly Abdel Malak addressed the attendees and congratulated the employees for their long period of service and specially mentioned that their sincerity, dedication and commitment are deeply valued at EMDAD. ROAD SAFETY
In Emdad, road safety is considered to be one of the major hazards in its operations. In 2016 Emdad’s work force have driven 1341090 Despite of considerable efforts spent on road safety improvement, 2 work related road traffic accidents happened in 2016. No one was injured; however the vehicle had some serious damages.
INITIATIVES Lessons learned from all road
accidents (shared by ADNOC groups, internal) are communicated with all vehicle users on timely manner.

CSR PROGRAMME Blood Donation: EMDAD as part of its corporate social responsibility conducted a Blood Donation campaign on 28th July 2016 at Emdad M45 complex with the support of Sheik khalifa Medical City.
Theme for the campaign was "Donate Blood save life". Aim of the campaign was to increase awareness about the advantages of blood donation ie: symbiotic advantages: helps to save someone’s life & is a healthy practice for donors . The team from Sheik Khalifa Medical City was able to collect 55 units of blood from 63 donors.

ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE
Protecting the environment is Emdad's major concern today with demands ranging from activities, emissions, to the everyday uses of new products.
The environment has long been deeply rooted in the culture of our company. This now gives us the capacity to satisfy these expectations and conduct our operations with minimum impact on the environment.
Emdad is committed to continually improve and protect the environment at all our work sites and bases complying with UAE and International environmental laws and accepted best practices and standards.
RECYCLING & REUSING Emdad is proud to operate the first plant in the GCC that processes the waste mud produced from oil and gas well drilling operations and treats the cutting to recover the oil and water using a heat-and centrifuge process. EMDAD is using a Thermal Oil Recovery (THOR) system supplied from Nov Brandt, that applies indirect heat to remove all the hydrocarbon contaminants from the cuttings. In the year 2016 55,000 MT of oil based cuttings were treated in Emdad’s plant. IMPROVEMENTS Various modifications were made in the plant equipments to optimize
productivity. Detailed Operational environmental management study was conducted and
OEMP in compliance with CWM requirements were submitted to CWM. Received CWM permit for Emdad’s operation at Habshan Completed detailed study of fire fighting system with the support of civil
defence approved consultant and closed all findings noted by the consultant.

WASTE MANAGEMENT Emdad is equally committed to protect the environment. We always try to reduce the environmental impacts caused by the wastes generated by Emdad’s operation. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle remains the motto of our organization.
Emdad is certified for ISO 14001:2004, environmental management system. Emdad has devised and implemented an extended waste management & reduction system which comply with legal requirements of CWM & Nadafa program.
Awareness Training : In order to raise awareness among employees, waste management training sessions were organized for Emdad staff with the support of Tatweer. Trainings were conducted by Operations manager Mr.Manan of Ms Tatweer.
Waste Collection & Disposal To ensure proper disposal of waste materials EMDAD has contract with various approved waste collection contractors. Emdad’s HSE dept ensures that waste generated from all its work locations are segregated and disposed through CWM approved ESPs.Trip manifest and waste volume reports are provided by the contractor as per the regulatory requirements. Waste management audit for the year 2015-16 was done by Tatweer. Below graphs shows the quantity of waste generated & disposed in the year 2016.

EMDAD’s QULAITY & HSE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
QHSEMS of EMDAD is established in conformity with ISO 9001: 2008, ISO14001:2004 & OHSAS 18001:2007 Standards’ requirements. Apart from this Emdad’s valve service division is certified to APIQ1. The ultimate responsibility of the QHSE Management System lies with the CEO of the company. QHSE Policies, Objectives and Procedures are in place for effective implementation of the QHSEMS. All elements of the QHSE-MS will be evaluated through internal /external audits & management reviews, to check the effectiveness of implementation.

INTERNAL AUDITS
In 2016 , 4 internal audits were done, of which, 2 were complete management system audits and 1 for valve division as per APIQ1 requirements & , 1 for drilling as per APIQ2 requirements.
CRITICAL SUPPLIER AUDITS Emdad categorizes its suppliers to critical and non critical mainly based on the uniqueness and impact of the service & service related products on the conformity of products and services Emdad provides to its customers. In order to ensure all risk related to product/service supply by the suppliers are identified, Emdad performs on site suppliers audits. In 2016 total 6 critical supplier audits were performed. API Q2 REGISTRATION Emdad submitted application for APIQ2 certification for its drilling division. As part of the preparation, IMS documentation and procedures were revised and developed. QHSE Manager attended APIQ2 practitioner’s course arranged by API. All key team members of the division attended APIQ2 awareness training.
ISO 9001 & 14001- 2015 TRANSITION
Emdad has decided to go for transition of its Integrated management system to ISO 9001 & 14001: 2015 standards. Emdad has revised all its IMS documentation to comply with the requirements of new ISO standards. Preparatory audits covering all departments were conducted at all offices & sites to ensure all the requirements of the standards are covered & implemented.

ISM
ISM procedure which is incorporated in to Emdad’s IMS system mainly aims to identify, record, analyze & take required actions for process/system improvement. This has been used by many of our TMs for raising suggestions, observations, NCs etc which has helped us in taking required actions on time and preventing the recurrence of the same. ISM awareness sessions were conducted for TMs. In the year 2016, total 86 ISM’s were raised.

ES _IGC HSE HIGHLIGHTS 2016
HSE at the workplace is naturally an important requirement for stable production. When healthy and motivated employees contribute through their productivity and creativity to the economic success of our company, costs are reduced by fewer lost work days. However, people remain people and cannot be replaced.
As a responsible employer, we want every employee to feel safe at his or her job. Our ambitious goal is zero incidents in all of our activities. We continuously strive to prevent Personal Injuries, occupational illnesses, harm to environment, property damage and loss of production.
The safety of our employees is the highest priority and the successes of past years reinforce our commitment to carry on in this way in order to maintain the high level which we have achieved. Following are some of our achievements in the year 2016:
• Completed 2.86 million man-hours of activity without LTI for the year 2016. • Few individual HSE appreciation certificate & awards received for ES personnel from
clients. Employees received appreciation certificate and Gifts from AL HOSN GAS for their outstanding HSE performance during Warranty Shutdown Services.
• Total 28,996 HSE training man-hours spent (An estimate of 2,096 personnel have undergone various external HSE Training such as H2S Competency training, Breathing apparatus, Permit to Work, Firefighting, Defensive driving training, Rigging / Slinging, Basic first aid, All Hosn Gas – HSE Induction Training, etc.)
• Recorded 1000 near misses (including unsafe acts and conditions), 1 MTIs and 4 FAI. Also 2 vehicle incident cases and 1 property damage cost are recorded which are of minor in nature.
• An estimate of 1,159,092 Kms driven by company vehicles during 2016. • We have rolled out 06 HSE Campaigns to improve the safety perception and
awareness of all employees • 3,478 Tool box talks conducted, 174 Group Safety meetings held with Foremen &
Supervisors, 336 Site HSE Audit/Inspections and 4 Camp Inspections conducted over the past year 2016.

EMJEL Emjel is a joint venture between EMDAD & Shanjel International Technical Services. Emjel provides five specialized service lines including Acidizing, Cementing, Coiled Tubing, Fracturing and Nitrogen. Emjel was awarded a three year contract from a main oil and gas company in Abu Dhabi for the provision of cementing and stimulation services for its rigs.

MarCap serves the offshore and marine civil construction industry with many diversified vessels and wide range of services, including but not limited to, anchor handling, towage, transport of equipment and personnel, fire fighting and oil pollution control.
MarCap follows a clearly outlined QHSE manual which sets out the general policy for quality aspect, protecting the health, safety and welfare of its employees at work, as well as environmental preservation. MarCap’s HSE system is approved and periodically audited by the OPCOs (Operating Oil Companies) of Abu Dhabi-UAE, which is a pre-requisite for the qualification of marine companies in the emirate. ISO MarCap has successfully acquired and is ISO 9001:2000 certified by Bureau Veritas to ensure the highest quality in servicing our clients
ISM MarCap has complied with and met the regulations of the International
Safety Management (ISM code certified), an industry standard that places it in a position of undisputed strength. Certification endorsed by Bureau Veritas.
ISPS MarCap has also met the requirements of the International Ship & Port Security (ISPS) – and is ISPS code certified. Certification endorsed by Lloyds Register.

CONCLUSION
EMDAD is constantly seeking to improve its HSE standards and performance in all areas of the Company’s operations while ensuring that strong and positive relationships are maintained with their stakeholders.
