DavidNicastro,AMassachusettsnative,enteredintotheUnitedStatesMarineCorpinAug1996.WhileinhisIn-fantryandSecurityForcesSchoolhewasselectedtotheSecondFleetAnti-TerrorismSecurityTeamCompany(2ndFASTCo)inYorktown,VA.HewasapartofsuchsecuritymissionsasthebombingoftheUSEmbassyinNairobi,Kenyain1998andthesecurityofUSEmbassiesinKosovoandMacedoniaduringatimeofcivilunrest.Davidfin-ishedhistimeinFASTCoconductingMaritimeoperationsinsupportofOperationEnduringFreedom.DavidmovedontoPrivateSecurityworkinIraqandAfghanistaninMay2004andstayedinthislineofworkuntilDec2014.DavidwasinspiredtomoveonfromhissecurityworkinwarzoneswhenGlenfoughtandsacrificedsobravelyinLibya.

DavidhasawifeTriciaandthreeyoungchildren,Isaiah5,Annelise2andLuke1andtheywerehugemotivatingfac-torsastothenewlifechangingmove.In2013,soonaftertheBostonMarathonbombings,DavidtooktheMassa-chusettsStateTrooperExamandpassedwithascoreof101outof102.Asthewargetscloserandclosertohome,Davidbelieveshisskills,experienceandknowledgelearnedfromhistimeinthemilitaryandsecuritycontractingwillbestbeutilizedservingasaMassachusettsStateTrooper.TheTrooperacademystartsinOctober2015andTheGlenDohertyFoundationScholarshipishelpingouttremendouslywhileDavidmakesthetransitionfromsecurityworkinwarzonestofulltimeHusbandandDadandeventuallyaMassachusettsStateTrooperupongraduationinmid2016.

RICH PREUSS

RichPreussgrewupinSouthBend,Indiana.Heistheoldestoftenchildren,andheenjoysspendingtimewithhisfamily.RichgraduatedfromtheU.S.NavalAcademyin2007withaB.S.inPhysicswithanArabiclanguageminor.HethenservedforsevenyearsasanactivedutyNavySEAL,deployingtoIraq,Afghanistan,LatinAmericaandTheCaribbean.HehasheldleadershippositionsinSEALandalliedforeignmilitaryunitsconductingawiderangeofmissions,fromdirectactioncombattoforeigninternaldefenseandcounternarcoticsoperations.RichbeginsmedicalschoolinAugust,2015,attheUniversityofVirginiaSchoolofMedicinewiththesupportofTheGlenDohertyMemorialFoundation.Heplanstobecomeatraumasurgeon,andwillcontinuetoserveintheSEALReserves.Asadoctor,Richwillconnectwithveteranpatientsinawaythatonlyafellowcombatveterancan,andhelooksforwardtoservingveteransreturningfromIraqandAfghanistan,aswellasthosefrompastwars.Additionally,heplanstoworkasaphysicianinsufferingcommunitiesaroundtheworldthatdesperatelyneedqualitymedicalcare,suchasinwarzonesandareassufferingfromnaturaldisaster.HealsohopestojoinanexpeditiontotheSouthPoleastheteamdoctor.RichisgratefulforachallengingandrewardingSEALcareerthathasledhimtothemedicalprofessionandpreparedhimtosucceedasadoctor.

MatthewReithisaActivedutyservicememberservingasaNavySEAL.AsaSEALhehasdeployedinsupportofOperationIraqiFreedomandOperationEnduringFreedom.Withalmost10yearsofservicetohiscountryMattislookingtotransitionintotheprivatesector.HeispassionateaboutleadershipandmanagementwhichisdrivinghimtopursueanMBA.Currently,heisbrushinguponlostquantitativeskillsbytakingundergraduateclasseswiththehelpoftheGlenDohertyFoundation.OneofMatt’slong-termgoalsistohaveapositiveimpactonsocietythroughvolunteerprogramswithyoungadolescents.
