The month of February has come and gone quickly. As I think we can all agree the weather has been a little abnormal for this time of the year with the random warm days, but it has been nice to see some of the members utilizing the course.
I want to thank all of you that have been inviting your friends, colleagues, and acquaintances to inquire about membership at MCC. I have had quite a few inquiries, especially during this last week of February, with the last weekend of the month being exceptionally warm! Please continue to encourage those that might be interested in joining the Club, and have them call me for information or come by the office for a tour. Remember that we can send the Centennial brochure via an e-mail link as well!
Remember to make your reservations for the special Easter Brunch March 27th. Have a safe and warm March. Spring is just around the corner!!

Ladies and Gentlemen, March?! Let's do this! Spring is right around the corner and what a year it is starting out to be! If the weather stays on course we are going to need some moisture quickly but in the meantime we should all get out and enjoy the beautiful weather! March 12 is the Polar Open. We moved it to March to make it a truly 'Polar' Open and it might just be another beautiful day in Kansas!
Then end of March marks the first time of the year for aerification. Such a sad two weeks, but before this happens you should be out on the golf course enjoying the wonderful conditions! See everyone really soon!

We hope everyone is getting to enjoy these great weather days this "winter". Spring is almost here, so that means more golf, but also Easter. Please plan to attend the Annual Easter Egg Hunt on March 26th starting at 10:30 am. We ask that you call the office so that we can plan accordingly. Then come back Sunday for Chef's great Easter Brunch buffet. The bunny will be hopping around both days for pictures and fun!
We enjoyed seeing everyone for Valentine’s Day Dinner and the Seafood Buffet in February. Both events had great attendance and we hope everyone enjoyed the evenings. With March having spring break we have a few less events planned, but we hope you are out golfing every chance you get.
Please save the dates for our great events coming up this spring! Let us know how we are doing and if Chef John and Chelsea can assist you to enjoy your Club more!

The grounds crew has been working hard removing dead pines from the course, cutting back brush on holes #7 and #17, clearing cart paths from unwanted brush, and stump removal. The time to start watering is quickly approaching. We have prepared the irrigation system so we can keep the greens wet and promote growth. During this time of year, we go out and spray greens to help control poa on the greens, this does not eliminate poa, but this does help reduce seed head production. Also, we have sprayed zoysia tee boxes to help prevent any breakthrough of any unwanted grasses. Springtime also brings the time of year where we spray our pre-emergents, all of these cultural practices will help us in getting ready for the upcoming season. All of our equipment is close to being prepared for the mowing season. Joe Bruckerhoff has done a tremendous job with our equipment maintenance getting ready for this upcoming season. We will soon be starting to staff employees for our upcoming season and we are looking forward to the start of the 2016 golfing season. Dianna Gebhardt has been working hard getting the greenhouse ready for the wonderful job she does for the flower beds throughout the club and the golf course. Hello, once again, members of Manhattan Country Club. We’ve had some great weather coming out of winter and moving into spring so now is the time to dust off your clubs and enjoy some golf. Mark and his crew have really been hard at work over the winter preparing for the upcoming season and the course is in great shape for early March. So, bundle up a bit, get out there, and get your game ready for the season.
I’m pleased to inform you the Annual Stockholders Meeting of the Manhattan Country Club will be held on Tuesday, March 29th at 6:00 pm in the Ballrooms. Stockholders will be receiving the ballot for new directors and the official meeting announcement by March 22nd. Please plan to attend this year.
Back by popular demand is the soup, salad, and sandwich bar available from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm, Tuesday thru Friday, from March 1st until Friday, September 30th for $6.99. In an effort to provide the members with the best value possible, and make it easy to pop in for a quick lunch, this has proven to be a very popular offering with Chef John’s delicious soups and deli meats that change daily.
Please stop in and bring a friend or 3 and show them what your club does for you. You never know, we may even pick up a new member along the way once they see the spectacular views from the deck, dining room, or even on the course. Once you share the positive experiences with them, they’re sure to be interested in membership and I’d be happy to help you provide a tour, answer any questions they may have, and sign them up at the beginning of this year’s season.
