end of March. Thank you for your kind donations!

Thank you to all who helped with salads, cakes and serving for the Edie Sebade funeral. A special "thanks" to Dick Adams and Allie Sothan for pitching in when we were short handed. It really helped! Thanks to all. Carol Timperley

On March 1, St. John’s began

!! CUFF it UP!! – a fundraiser for the ELCA World Hunger

“Walk for Water” program.

Each weekend random names will be drawn from the church directory -- if

your name is drawn and you do not have insurance, you may be wearing cuffs!

THE CHALLENGE IS ON!The Sunday School challenge has the boys versus the girls to see who can raise the most money for ELCA World Hunger “Walk-for-Water” campaign. The Sunday School offerings will be deposited in a “well” with buckets separately marked BOYS and GIRLS. The bucket with the greatest amount in donations will determine who will receive a pool party at the Norfolk YMCA. The “well” is located in the back of the sanctuary. Everyone is invited to donate to either bucket!

Spring Casserole MealJoin the Fellowship Life Team on Saturday, April 11, immediately following the 6 PM Worship Service as we celebrate the Majesty Choir in their Cantata Presentation with a Fellowship Meal. Fellowship Life will be serving Chicken Casserole, Cranberry Salad, Dinner Rolls, Dessert and Drinks.

We will again be celebrating the “Greening of the Cross” here at St. John’s. On Easter Sunday you are invited to bring flowers to decorate the cross, turning it from the Cross of the Passion to the Cross of the Resurrection. If you forget, don’t worry . . . there will be flowers available at the church for you to use. Come ready to decorate the Passion Cross!

NEW MEMBER SPONSORS

We are seeking St. John's New Member Sponsors! As new members join our church family, we would like to connect them with "sponsors" who are willing to help make connections and answer any questions new members may have about St. John's. If you are willing to be a sponsor, please check the box on the worship registration slip or notify the church office.

You are invited to join the Norfolk Chamber Singers for

“Come To The Water”an evening of sacred music reflecting the events of Holy Week. The performance will be Sunday, March 29, beginning at 7 PM at Grace Lutheran Church (5th & Park). There is no admission charge but a free-will offering will be taken to support Walk for Water and Living Water International, both of which are working to dig wells and help supply water to those parts of the world where there is little or no fresh water.

CALL COMMITTEE REPORT The Ministry Site Profile has now been completed, approved by council and submitted to the Synod office for review. This profile communicates the congregation’s hopes and dreams to the synod and provides candidates with a picture of the congregation’s needs and

Page 6: announce 3 29 15a.docx

opportunities. The profile also includes the history of St. John’s along with information about the community. We appreciate the input from all who participated in the survey at our annual meeting. The information you provided was very helpful in the completion of the Ministry Site Profile. The call committee will be meeting with the synod representative in April to determine the process for interviews. As we move forward with the call for a new pastor for St. John’s, let us pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

If your child is interested in receiving the Lord's Supper for the first time, you and your child(ren) are invited to attend a one-session First Communion Class from 5-6 PM on Wednesday, April 1, in the sanctuary. We will then celebrate your child's First Communion on Maundy Thursday, April 2, at the 6:30 PM worship service. First Communion opportunities are offered throughout the year at St. John's. If you cannot attend this class at this time, ask one of the pastors for future First Communion opportunities.
