  • The church/liturgical calendar: The Season after Pentecost

There are six distinct periods of Christian observances, with each focusing on a different aspect of the Christian experience and tradition. The six seasons are: Advent, Christmas, Epiphany/The Season after Epiphany, Lent, Easter and The Season after Pentecost.

Pentecost Power: Ten days after Jesus ascended into heaven, the Holy Spirit descended onto Jesus’ disciples. While they were gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate the Jewish festival of Pentecost, the disciples saw flames among and on them, heard a rushing wind and began talking in many languages. As a result, the disciples were able to share the good news of Jesus in the native tongues of all the pilgrims assembled in the city. Even today, the power of the Holy Spirit fuels the “flame” that ignites Christians’ outreach efforts. Only by the Spirit’s power can we know Christ and make him known throughout the world.

    Noisy/Special Offering: Camp Jo-Ota (Jo-Ota Methodist Association)

Today and next Sunday, we’ll receive our Noisy/Special Offering for Camp Jo-Ota, which

has just reopened for camps this month. Camp Jo-Ota is a Methodist church camp

located near Clarence, MO, operated by the Jo-Ota Methodist Asso-

ciation, and which receives no conference apportionment funds.

There are many items needed in order to make camp more safe and

enjoyable for the campers, such as cleaning and first aid supplies.

We will give this special offering to help purchase these items. Please

give generously as you are able, and keep Camp Jo-Ota in prayer.

Green is the traditional liturgical color for the weeks after Pentecost. The Pentecost season largely overlaps with spring and summer, which is fitting because green symbolizes growth:

growth of plant life and crops, and growth of the church in discipleship and faith!

Attendance & Participation Counting! Please let us know if you are joining us for the worship online at 10am on Sundays, or viewing the recorded service at a later time. You may comment on the facebook/web page video post, or email or call the church office. Thank you!

Submissions for Next Sunday, July 12: Please send in any Announcements, Joys or Concerns to be printed in the bulletin by 11:00am on Thursday, July 9th. Thank you! Private prayer concerns may be submitted to the Women’s Prayer Group at

any time, to the attention of Helen Schnackenberg, at: [email protected].

Going forward: The Administrative Board continues to monitor the fluid COVID-19 situation and is working to phase in the church “re-opening” while following the national, state

and county orders. Thank you for bearing with us during this challenging time.
