Tj.PRIOK SHOPHOUSE

Located at the north side of Jakarta, this 6 units of shophouses try to maximize the land use as well as creates some rhythmic forms, blending secondary skin with building mass.Re-identifying retail typology usually built in the area with block bright colors ,cube extrusions, and/or overlapping linear shapes familiar in minimalist design, the design provides subtle character that is still dynamic and eye catching. Designed with Atelier Prapanca Studio.

Consists of two resort hotels adjacent to water, and condominium compound at the back, we need to move existing road located in the beach line up to the back. The study is to create minimum cut and fill, and create balanced area dividing the site to three different use. To differenciate the two hotels creating different experience, we decided to put the lobby of Hotel A up to the top, and near to the beach for Hotel B. I study the grading slopes, cut and fill area, and lot layout in the site, creating the optimal posibility of villa and condominium number. h

This complex of hotel was designed around 10 years ago and just before the construction, the operator wants a complete review of the facade and the internal layout. After the first presentation, they decided to bring another tower of Ibis hotel, which add complexity to the project. I learn many things about vehicular ramps access, designing building housing a function, hotel and retail at the same

The building consist of a conference center with main ballrom, junior ballroom and meeting rooms; food-retail space, and two hotels : 5 star Pullman and 3 star Ibis. The challenge of this project that we were doing revision on construction drawing from previous designer, with columns and structure already fixed, and the contractor al-ready digging for piling on site. When client approached us, the agreement is only to do a facade treatment. But looking at the poor space planning, unefficiency in parking layout, and bad safety access, we ended up redesigning everything, added another tower for Ibis Hotel, which has only 3 star. Now we have three big functions that have to be distinguished one to another.

In this project, I work closely with senior designer and senior vice president, creating alternative of design. This is a great opportunity for me to learn arrangement of func-tion in mixed-use development, horizontal and vertical connectivity, safety requirement, circulation for vehicle.

The basic idea is to separate the entrance along with its drop off and in-out access between three function. The new layout must be in coherence with column layout. The architecture style explored in this project is art deco - which is decidedly will create good rythm in Bandung city especially being the neighbor of the landmark, Gedung Sate, which is built in Dutch-indies style.
