Factor Womens’ pursuit for the world’s top model By Anna Buchanan Her favorite book is “The Glass Castle,” she enjoys spending time with her husband and her pet cats, running and shopping. Most of all, Factor Women’s Director of the Runway Division, Bridget Halanski, loves her job with finding the world’s next “It” model. From the getgo, Halanski knew that she wanted to be a part of the entertainment industry. Halanski started her career as a Booker at Irene Marie Model Management in Miami Beach and relocated to Chicago in 2008. As a talent agent, she now represents over 100 runway models in Chicago and other U.S. markets. Halanski has since become an essential part in Factor Women’s mission, booking men and women for fashion shows, trunk shows and other live events all over the world. “We want to find and discover a hidden gem a diamond in the rough and develop him or her as the next 'it' model,” said Halanski. “Make them the most money and get them the most exposure. Not just here in Chicago but all over the world and in the fashion capitals of the world.” Formally known as Elite Model Management, Factor Women is one of the most highfashion boutiques in the city of Chicago and has launched the careers of successful models. Do the names Cindy Crawford, Karlie Kloss and Amanda Murphy ring a bell? At the age of 12, Kloss launched her career in Chicago with Elite Model Management. Murphy has appeared on the covers of Vogue all over the world. In the 1980s, Jane Stewart, owner and president, discovered Crawford and took a chance. Due to Crawford’s beauty mark her mole alongside her mouth no one would work with her until Stewart took that risk. The rest is history. Not just here in Chicago but all over the world and in the fashion capitals of the world.”

Formally known as Elite Model Management, Factor Women is one of the most highfashion boutiques in the city of Chicago and has launched the careers of successful models. Factor Women’s Director of the Runway Division,

“We do look for girls that are a bit unconventional. Unconventionally beautiful. So we have really pushed the envelope,” exclaimed Halanski. “The biggest compliment in the world is being at a show for Jason Wu and someone saying that these models can't possibly be from Chicago, that they must have been flown out from New York. It really goes to say that we do have clout and the caliber that a New York, Paris, or Milan agency has.”

What Halanski really concentrates on are her relationships with Chicago’s luxury retailers. She upholds strong relationships with Ikram, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s and Bloomingdales. During designer runway shows, designers such as Tory Burch, Jason Wu and Carolina Herrera do attend to watch and discover new models for their brands.  Factor Women has its perks but also keeps its employees busy, busy, busy. Copious amounts of coffee is gulped down as phones are ringing constantly and emails must be typed and sent off. Multitasking is crucial but it’s this urgency that has made Factor Women a global agency.

“The biggest thing about my job is that I love the relationship with my talent and my clients. Whether it's with Neiman Marcus or with a PR person or a model I represent, you end up having a kinship and you're dealing with these people on a daily basis,” said Halanski proudly.  Coming soon in May from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago is “The Walk,” a show where Chicago fashion students show off their new designs and hope to get noticed as the world’s next new fashion designer. Last year, Halanski successfully booked 60 models through Factor Women to walk the runway.  But most importantly, Halanski thrives in Chicago’s booming fashion scene and all the demanding yet eventful duties that comes along with it.   “My goal, and our goal as an agency, is to be a manager, a friend, a physiologist, an agent, and to book the talent that we have in town. We want to help them make a living at this.”
