Yea it's adorable but animal obesity is an issue. More than half of our nation's dogs and cats are obese, yes, more than half. While some dogs are starving on the streets others are having steak for dinner. How can we stop pet obesity? Limit dinner time handouts We are what we eat, and what are what we feed them. Be aware to not overfed your pet. It is dinner time and your pooch is sitting by your feet staring at you with those innocent eyes. You take another bite of your pizza and you their paw tapping on your leg. You give in and share your crust. One piece of crust doesn’t hurt, but we know that one piece turns into 3 and those dinner handouts can become a problem day after day. Read labels on their treats Many treats add sugar to treats so make sure to buy brands that are sugar-free. Pet store treats look desirable enough for humans to eat, but have lots of added sugars. Simply reading labels or even baking fresh homemade treats is a great alternative. Exercise Yes, this is well-known information, but just get up and do it because our animals matter . In another life our pets were not domesticated. They didn’t have the comfy couches or the ability watch squirrels run up trees through their windows. Make an effort to take your pets for walk or spend 20 minutes playing with them Our precious pets don't have a lot of time with us, lets not shorten their lives because of our poor decisions about their diet and exercise. How can we stop pet obesity?

Limit dinner time handouts

We are what we eat, and what are what we feed them.
